it's with an incredibly heavy heart that we are closing ironforged. we have had over 700+ days of writing and creating, sharing, bonding, celebrating, grieving, persevering and supporting each other. two years is an eon in the RPC; we have never had a hiatus nor a revamp and we had truly built a family here. but the time has sadly come where the admins can no longer manage keeping the roleplay afloat whilst battling our own personal problems and our concerns with the slow decline in activity. the sad truth of it is that the admins can't bear to watch something we have invested thousands of hours slowly wither and die before our eyes, and rather than allow that to happen we would rather preserve ironforged as it is and not what it could become. we have survived so much hardship and trials again and again but sadly this time we have no choice to surrender to the circumstances beyond our control. this is an incredibly hard decision to make, and we hope that you understand. with love always, the ironforged admin team ♚ ♕ ♚

from anonymous: is it possible for my character to have learned magic if they were taught or if there were some brief allusions to magical properties in their bloodline / ancestors?

   hi anon, whilst there are rare cases of people being ‘taught’ magic in the universe of ASOIAF, that is not something we consider lightly.  inherited magical abilities are like recessive genes, and whilst they are stronger in some families, we have to account for the dilution of the genes as generations have passed.

   as for learned magic, the only way we could consider this as part of the character's narrative is if they had spent a lengthy stint (several years) training rigorously and daily with an appropriate master of that ability. arya stark travelling to essos to study under the faceless men of braavos is a good example of this. it’s a clear example that the secrets of magic, regardless of which culture it comes from, are closely guarded and require the utmost dedication and commitment from the person wishing to learn.

   for that to work, like with study or combat, a very solid chunk of their narrative and biography would need to revolve around their pursuit of learning it, how, why, etc., as it is considered a proficiency.    unfortunately it is not possible to learn any kind of magic from books in our verse, save for the alchemist guild of westeros where they use both text and tutelage.   essentially, for someone to have learned magic in their narrative, they would have had to dedicate 1/3 of their life at minimum to the craft to the exclusion of most, if not all, other things.

—   PLOT UPDATES ( “A MARAUDER IN THE NIGHT” )

  these are the updates to the plots unfolding during the midsummer ball with the tag of a marauder in the night. a big thank you to plot moderator, salma, for writing these up. this post is to help you form an idea of how everything turned out and which plots are still ongoing. the plot points can be found HERE for those who may not have been here during the midsummer ball. it is important to remember your character will not know all this information as some plots are kept secret by the characters. for all those plots that are not kept secret, please feel free to use them in your threads. 

in the weeks following the aftermath of the midsummer ball, a heavy blanket of mourning seemed to cloak upon the city and all the souls who had ventured so far from home in the name of peace. as funeral processions and pyres lit up all around the city, there has been movements, changes and revelations behind closed doors and in the shadows.

despite their best efforts and united front, the targaryens of dragonstone alongside their cousin, falhar fanghorn, were unable to gather any answers regarding the murder of their much-beloved targaryen servants. their investigation ultimately came back inconclusive, with too many dead ends and question marks ( @drragonbcrn + @youngdrvgon + @fcnghcrn ).

another targaryen never found an answer, queen rhaena never found the culprit who broke into her room and stole her vials of the dreamless sleep concoction given to her by ellavida waters. likewise, vida has not found those who broke into her wagon and stole several of her supplies and notes. while the crimes seem to be connected, none of the women has found the answers they seek ( @rhcena + @liifewcter ).

lord vickon greyjoy and his sister, lady morra greyjoy, are still on the hunt for red harras, the former greyjoy crew member who they believed betrayed them. they have recently gotten hold of a tip to where the man and suspected traitor might be hiding ( @thereapcr + @captain-morra ).

whilst storm queen, kyra baratheon, had made her presence known in Dorne from the very beginning of what was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter in westerosi history, the late arrival of storm king steffon baratheon raised many eyebrows. his abrupt arrival became clear after some days; it has become common knowledge among the nobles that the stormlands and dorne are once again engaged in their ancient conflict along the borders of the dornish marches ( @tcrths + @stvrmking ).

thanks to his fiery temperament, nicholas lannister found himself under scrutiny by nobles and smallfolk alike for supposedly half beating a man to death; painted as a tyrant commander who uses his power against those who trouble him personally. an eyewitness soon stepped forward to speak to a member of king arryk lannister’s kingsguard, explaining how he saw the injured man involved in a drunken brawl before lord lannister was ever at the scene. despite having evidence to now clear his name, nicholas lannister remains disliked among the dornish smallfolk of sunspear, who believe the eyewitness to merely be a cover-up ( @nicholaslannister ).

initially focusing on their slow recovery, the mallister sisters night of freedom away from the hawk eyes of their mother karys mallister turned into near tragedy. as the weeks have passed, both annaya and neridia have slowly begun to realise correspondence from their controlling mother had reduced; to the point where the sisters of seagard receive nothing but ominous silence to any communication sent back home ( @ncridia + @lady-annaya ). 

finally, helena serrett’s rushed arrival in sunspear made sense to many of the nobles in the aftermath of the midsummer ball attack. what sister would not seek to ensure the wellbeing of her only brothers? however as time has passed, nobles have begun to whisper of the fact she chose to take residence in the tyrell lodgings over residences dedicated to those loyal to the Lannister crown. paired with the fact her husband, myles serrett, has not followed in her path, questions are beginning to swarm around her marital life and reputation ( @htyrell ).
