Science bros as text posts! (Bruce Banner pt I) (Bruce Banner part II)
PETER CAM! || headcanon
Peter sometimes hides on the ceiling of the lab and tries to scare Tony as he walks in. Sometimes heāll film it to try and get his reaction.
thinking about peter copying tonyās mannerisms the more time he spends with him. I think we sometimes forget that tony was peterās IDOL for YEARS before he recruited him during CW. Like imagine your favorite celebrity just sitting in your living room when you come home from school one day.
peter adores tony, but tony builds this emotional wall between them from the get-go, mostly because heās afraid heās going to be a bad influence. At the beginning of the mentorship he keeps peter at an arms length, because he knows everything he touches turns to ruin.
I certainly think that, in the earliest stages of their relationship, before peter started to see the more human side of him, he would copy his mannerisms, even simple little things like the way he stands with his hands in his pockets or the way he nods at the receptionist when he walks into one of his fancy business buildings. He thought that maybe, if he was more like tony, tony would like him more.
SCENARIOS:
when theyāre in the lab, peter copies little things about tony, the way he sits, the way he stands with his arms crossed, the way he moves seamlessly around the room swiping at holograms and picking up tools in a controlled, chaotic dance. At this point, peter doesnāt know where everything is in the lab yet, but he feels insecure asking, so he just kind of fumbles around until tony helps him.
peter yells at DUM-E to pass him things the way tony does, except DUM-E doesnāt listen to him.
peter starts picking up some of the sayings that tony has, even the less⦠school appropriate ones.
peter gets kidnapped while heās out on patrol. itās the first time this has happened, and quite frankly heās terrified. when tony is scared he doesnāt show it. so, he tries to act all tough and smart like tony. it only ends up making the kidnappers more angry with him, and they hurt him more.
after this, tony has a heart to heart with peter about all this, sort of an expansion on the classic āI just wanted to be like you / I wanted you to be betterā moment from Homecoming, where he explains to him that he likes him just the way he is, and the reason heās been so distant is because he doesnāt want to rub off on him.
peter explains that the reason heās doing all that in the first place is he wants tony to be proud of him, and think heās worth his time.
from there, they start to open up to each other.

Peter accidentally picking up Tonyās speech patterns is genuinely one of the funniest possible internship side effects.
May walks into the kitchen at 7 AM and finds Peter drinking coffee straight black while staring at the toaster like it personally betrayed him.
May: Honey, youāre sixteen.
Peter: and yet the bagel remains untoasted.
May: Why are you talking like that.
Peter: I spent fourteen consecutive hours with Mr. Stark and Dr. Banner trying to stop a satellite from falling into New Jersey. This is who I am now.
messages peter parker sends to tony stark before leaving him on read
I'm watching Iron Man 3 again(I know it's a problem don't mention it) and I just realized that Tony actually watched DUM-E fall into the ocean. He was actively aware and actually seeing his bots, his kids, fall to their death. He saw DUM-E and U reach for each other trying to save themselves when their home was being destroyed. Tony watched as the floor gave away and DUM-E made his little sounds and tried to go towards Tony. And just ya, I know even after years, and rescuing the bots the image of them falling still haunts his nightmares because he failed to protect them.
Shit Peter parker would post on the internet:
"There's this dude who wants to be my dad, but I'm not sure if i should agree he yelled at me :/ "
And he would # it with "that's mean" and "if it hits 50 likes i will let him be my dad lol "
i'm totally convinced that peter's actions in homecoming were just out of confusion. he doesn't understand that the tony stark cares about him, why would he? all peter was trying to do is to get tony to care about him and see him as worthy, but that's just the thing, tony did. he did before he saved his plane. he did before germany. he did before showing up in his apartment. he did before he ever met him.
tony made the suit a while before civil war, he put in all these protocols to protect a kidāwho soon becomes the kidāhe doesn't even know. he saw a child in a onesie with powers and decided to take him under his wing.
peter never truly understands that tony genuinely cares about him, even after tony dies.

āits been a long week, kid. get some rest now.ā
(AN: just finished my last final today. so long, high school)
Peter domesticates his dad (takes Tony shopping)
Peter doesnāt have very many friends. Tony doesnāt understand whyā heās very easy to love.
So when Peter describes Tony as his friend to the lady at the front desk to explain his visit, Tony wears that like a badge of honor.
āHeās my friendā to reassure Aunt May over the phone before a particularly dangerous mission. āHeās my friendā to warn his kidnappers that hellās coming to them. āHeās my friendā when someone asks why he trusts Tony Stark, someone who got rich off of destruction, off of apathy.
Among the many, many things heās been in his lifeā CEO of Stark Industries, Iron Man, an Avengerā being Peterās friend is one of the things Tonyās most proud of.
obsessed with tonyās problem solving mind being applied to the domesticity that followed from him mentoring peter more often.
the kid gets hungry in the lab. heāll eat anything of course; but heās too polite to say that he doesnāt exactly love the very expensive snacks tony has stocked up. ok. tony now has an updated pantry with shit that the kid WILL eat. heās figuring out peterās favourite by monitoring what goes the quickest.
the kid spends a lot of time upstate and sometimes nights run late. that leaves peter to sleep in the car, where his neck cramps, and happy has to drive frequently at night, which leaves may to stress out over when her kid is coming home. ok. tony now has reinstated a room in the compound for peter to stay at. lab days are now on weekends so he doesnāt miss school. itās better that way. win-win.
and this kind of thing goes on for EVERYTHING. bed sheets and spare clothes and the temperature of the building. healthy food and healthy sleep schedules and what to say to make peterās rough days moderately better.
itās tony learning all about how to take care of someone out of comfort rather than necessity. itās such a healthy outlet for him to use one of his (usually unhealthy) coping mechanisms.
