Iruma is Definitely a Human! Spoilers Ahead!
Utter lack of knowledge of the netherworld!
1.)Chants a dangerous spell
2.)Knows nothing about akudols
Note//We can accurately assume akudols are the equivalent of Japan’s pop idols
Unusual customs, tendencies, actions
1.)Summons a demon- one of the hallmark abilities of humans, notable witches
During the ranking test, Iruma is not affected by the demonic scream. While one could argue that Iruma is not affected because he is the wearer of the ring, it would not hold up because Akucred is searching for magic. If Iruma did possess magic, he, too, would have been affected and drained but since he does not, being a human, he stays outside the range of influence for now.
Again, Iruma cannot be judged by demonic standards or expected to abide by demonic rules or expectations. We’ll go into that later. So far, every time he has come close to being discovered most demons conclude he is either a.) very sheltered or b.) very eccentric.
Unfortunately, Iruma does outright expose his condition under moments of ease, relief, or surprise. Although to be fair to Iruma, this only occurs three times thus far.
First, he reveals he can read a human language. So far, we know through Caim that most demons speak one language and animals another. That’s minuscule compared to the 6,909 human languages (according to www.linguisticsociety.org)! So, Iruma is obviously a human to Ameri.
Second and the most unfortunate, Iruma makes a series of comments to Kirio, giving himself away. Out of all three incidents, this reveal was the most accidental and pure-hearted. Iruma’s ring is a special item that is meant to store magic away, serving the same purpose as Kirio’s necklace. As an informant, Kirio must have noticed Iruma is abnormal and gained the information he is also Sullivan’s grandson. As the Lord of Thunder in the elite group of the Thirteen Crowns, Baal must have noticed this sudden acquisition of a fully-formed ‘grandson’ despite Sullivan having no children. So, Iruma must be abnormal enough to catch the elite demon’s eye. Knowing Iruma is also in possession of a magic-sealing item only confirmed Baal’s suspicion. Why would a demon need an item like that if he is abnormal.? Iruma does not possess a weak body like Kirio’s or a huge amount of magic like Sullivan. In the class ranking test, Iruma needs magic power from others. Plus, the magic Iruma performs in class bears Sullivan’s signature showing casing the before-mentioned statement. Logically, Iruma cannot be a demon and must be a human.
With that information, every hapless slipup Iruma makes near Kirio is magnified.
Looking at the scene again, I feel disturbed.
Before discussing the third incident, I’ll discuss the background details of the third demon, Balam. Obsessed with the mythic legend of humans, he has become a biology teacher at Babyls. After a crushing incident, Balam’s mouth is exposed, revealing his demonic teeth. Afterward, he cannot pet animals anymore because they are scared of his appearance. So, he touches all living beings whenever he has the chance. He gets away with this odd behavior because of his high rank as a chet (8). His bloodline ability allows him to tell whether someone is lying or telling the truth: in Babyls. he catches the vast majority of student cheaters, gaining the respect of all the other teachers.
After Iruma comes to him, he touches him as is his custom. But something is off! He has no wings! After a series of Iruma avoiding him and Balam trying to expose him, Iruma gains his trust by showing fake wings and implying he is just an abnormal demon. This leads us to the third incident of Iruma’s exposure and the most ridiculous. No more explanation is needed.
TLDR; When viewed from an outside perspective, Iruma is obviously a human.
