Hi Hardcase! Hope you're doing well! 🩵 I was wondering if you would be able to give me some advice, and I think you would be really good with this particular area.
I'm a very shy, introverted person, and social anxiety is something I struggle with a lot. I get super uncomfortable when talking to strangers, I hate public speaking, I always loathe classes that center around class discussion/participation, and I always have awful reactions when I get nervous talking to others: I get really blush-faced, my palms sweat, my stomach feels sick, my mouth goes dry, etc.
What do you think is the best way to better ease social anxiety, gain more confidence, and get out of my shell more?
Mesh'la, I'm sorry I don't know what I can say. It's not a struggle I had to deal with, I had others. I was told a lot that I talk too much, then later too loud. It made me anxious that I had done something wrong I hadn't. Volume is a problem, Kix explained some of it to me a long time ago. Then on top of that, well let's just say I have an even harder time regulating it now. Maybe it's your head telling you the same thing people told me all the time?
Maybe some of my vode will have some good advice? @tup-perware @professional-tooka-herder @i-outrank-everyone @idiot-tamer @is-that-regulation or any of the rest of you.
@rebel-without-a-zeppelin I’m something of an introvert, so I hope I can assist. I never cared much for social situations (still don’t if I’m honest), but through talking with more and more of my vode, I discovered I wasn’t the only one. There are so many of us fighting that internal battle and sometimes it helps to think of that, that you’re not alone.
Also it helps to remember that your thoughts are unique and valuable. What you share can only come from you, and it would be a shame for the people around you to miss out on your perspective. I hope this helped a little. It’s something I’m still working on myself to be honest 😅
