It’s the first day of winter and it’s 10°C and I’m dying its so fucking cold

Concerning dance en pointe, I’d like to write a short rant because I keep seeing pictures of girls (and I mean young girls) or inexperienced people posing in pointe shoes. Please do not support something like this! It’s unhealthy and dangerous!

You know, all of this sounds like a fairytale to me. I did ballet for several years in childhood and we started pointe routines on the third year (which was 9 years old for me but 8 for other girls, because I missed one year). And we had a Mariinsky ballet-dancer teaching us, so you can’t actually say she lacks knowledge or expirience... Not that I’m in any way for inexpirienced people doing pointes, but I guess Russian ballet traditions are more harsh.

Funny thing, I’ve registered there right before Worlds but didn’t post anything so far because I didn’t know where to begin haha! So yes, ofc I know about the fan forum and read the posts there every once in a while, especially the fantastic interview translations. Is it easy to join the conversation? My experiences with forums were not the best in the past tbh.

It’s very polite and supportive in the Deniss thread, and I haven’t ventured further yet! I’m fourth_dimension there.

I was thinking that it might be better to separate the Deniss content. In my case, I’ll be using the #team deniss tag for every post that contains my personal thoughts and opinion or to communicate with other fans. My #deniss vasiljevs tag lists pictures, gifs or other more ‘official’ reblogs.

Unfortunately, I can’t see every post tagged with #team deniss but I guess that’s a problem with tumblr?! Is it the same for you guys?

I'ts been almost 5 years since I’ve uploaded something, so it kind of feels uneasy to post thiss haha. But I really, really wanted to share this. I’m glad Yuri on ice has been my trigger to loving ice skating, or should I say to watch other categories apart from ice dance (which I already was into haha). I’m very thankful to be now part of the ice skating fandom, and I can’t wait to one day go to a world championships to support my favourites! I’ve become and enourmous fan of latvian skater Deniss Vasiljevs, or should I say that I was mesmerized by his skating. To say that I like him even more than Plushenko, is a real proof of my admiration haha I can’t wait to see this skater grow and become on of the top skaters of his generation, and look forward to the day I’ll be able to stand next to the rink he’s going to skate on. For now, I’ll just enjoy drawing him Yuri style (somehow) haha

AND JUST TO MAKE MYSELF CLEAR BC I REALLY DONT WANT TO START A DISCOURSE, i absolutely love yuzuru hanyu’s skating. i think he’s incredible, his PCS is incredible and he’s a phenomenal jumper. But I also think the majority of the men in figure skating are pretty damn good. My stance is that it’s a different sport today than is was a few years ago. but my bigger point is that it’s just nasty for some fans to have to shit talk other skaters in order to make their fav look good. and it’s not just yuzuru fans who do it but that’s where i see the vast majority of it happening. if anything, you should want every skater to be in top shape, that makes it more fun to watch.

you should never hope for a skaters failure. you should never mock another skater for doing something that i sure as hell cant do and you probably can’t do either. it’s supposed to be fun and it’s supposed to be artistic and it’s supposed to be beautiful. there’s no beauty in dragging another skater down.
