//I only watched the anime version but I have a strong need to watch the live action if it’s as good as you say it is!
//I highly recommend it!!
//Me finishing the anime: The confrontation with Yashiro wasn’t great but I dunno why everyone hates the anime ending so much, it was really good???
Me watching the live action and seeing how much the anime ending cut from the manga: oh
//Also the live action confirmed my headcanon that Satoru is pretty much constantly thinking about his manga/trying to find inspiration for things to put in his manga and for that I’m grateful
So how different/similar is the live action version to the mange/anime?
//The only part of the manga I’ve read is Yashiro’s backstory (and I’ve been meaning to change that I’m just really lazy when it comes to reading manga ;;) so I can’t compare the live action to the manga too much. I can say they cut down Yashiro’s backstory a little bit, they didn’t make a huge point about the whole spider thread thing (though they did show him reading the book!) and they left out the part about him drowning his hamsters and the part where he went to college and killed his girlfriend. They left the rest of his backstory the same though which was great to see since it was cut from the anime!
As for the rest of it? There’s certain scenes in the live action that are either altered from the anime or weren’t in the anime at all, but since it’s based off the manga I’m assuming most changes from the anime are things that were originally in the manga. (I do know the scene where Yashiro tells everyone Satoru’s in a coma and Kenya bolts out of the room crying is in the manga.)
There’s some good scenes from the anime that are either shortened or taken out altogether from the live action (Kayo doesn’t give Satoru her scarf, the scene where Satoru races that kid and lets him win and Kayo calls him out on it isn’t in it, etc.)
As someone who’s only seen the anime, a lot of the differences are completely new to me and I really like them honestly? We get to see a little bit more about Yuuki (he’s apparently the one who got Satoru into his favorite superhero anime?), Airi gets to be more of a badass and tries to fight Yashiro off when he attacks her, Kayo and Satoru visit the Christmas tree a second time, and I haven’t finished watching it yet but I’m at the part where Satoru’s still in a coma and we get to see how Kenya is handling the whole situation. (I do know that part is in the manga as well.)
I wouldn’t be able to tell you if the live action is more faithful to the manga than the anime was, but I can say for sure that I really loved the anime, and I’m really enjoying the live action series as well! There’s certain parts of the live action that make some scenes in the anime make more sense, and the same goes for the other way around too. I’d definitely recommend the live action series, to both people who are new to Erased and to people who are fans of the anime too!
Satoru lets out a loud, dramatic sigh. He’s very tired.
#i don't . . . i'm not adding to this#i just feel that this post kinda sums up the whole series
