I was reading @kotabear--24's soulmate au, where Jeremy is tutored in French as a child and I found the scene where he was actually confronted by two very different accents really funny, good luck buddy

When Neil arrives, he takes one look at Jean's face and his expression drops the false amicable facade it had been wearing. "I thought this was the team of pacifists," he says in French that sounds different from what Jeremy's learned. "Wanna tell me what happened to you?" Jeremy opens the door wider, to invite him in, but Neil steps back, giving Jeremy a critical look. It feels like a warning, and Jeremy gets the feeling Neil thinks he might be responsible for Jean's injuries. Before he can defend himself, Jean speaks. "You could have come at a better time," Jean answers grimly, also speaking differently than both Jeremy or Neil, but clearly they can both understand him, because Neil shrugs.

I'm not sure if the author intended to give Neil a quebecois accent since he could have gotten any sort of accent while he was in france, but dammit I love the quebecois accent and we know Neil kissed a french canadian girl so I'm saying he spent time in quebec and picked one up. Or, more likely, he's very capable of code-switching between accents and just chooses the quebecois one to rile Jean up. Either way you can't take this from me.

once u start noticing how often neil talks about doing calculations in tfc it does make andrew's dialogue after seth's death more impactful on their relationship i think. bcus yes before this neil somewhat trusts andrew to react in ways useful to him (specifically ruthlessly and w violence but towards ppl who arent Neil now that they have a deal), but here he also realizes that where he failed to accurately calculate the risk (for the others not himself) andrew is already covering his blindspot (and also telling him not to worry about it). and u see neil move further and further away from his "i need to calculate all the risks and take care of all the angles" mindset as he starts to trust andrew more and more (since andrew is calculating Nsil's risk of survival. tho there is also the whole. neil just accepting death thing). like it's interesting bcus its another way that neil's focus moves from himself to the people around him (namely he starts calculating how to fix the foxes and break the ravens). and of course there is the "you're always watching our backs who's watching yours" comment from neil post easthaven.
