Myth: concern trolling
There are two people who will comment on your weight:
Bullies.
Those who are concerned about your weight.
Bullies are complete assholes. Theyāll say shit about your weight, and act like they are very bigoted. They might even say ābut being overweight is unhealthy!ā to act like they werenāt doing much. Well clearly if they call you names and then go ājust cos youāre unhealthy.ā You know theyāre pigs.
The others: the people who are polite and comment on your weight. They donāt call you names, they just give you advice. They are actually worried.
So there are people who are worried. Just because there are bullies who, after being an asshole, say āhealth though!ā doesnāt mean that the others arenāt concerned and are just there to irritate you.

How do I lose weight when I cannot afford any of those superfoods?
Why do you need that to lose weight? Frozen vegetables, oats, rice, eggs, beans, lentils are perfect. Whatās your problem? You donāt need a perpetually fancy diet to lose weight.

Just an excuse that people use so no one tries. And even if people do, itās not because CICO doesnāt work, its because they resume terrible eating habits.

Yeah, you will, but not a hugely unhealthy amount. A small nice sweet snack everyday and McDonaldās once a week. Thin people eat that, donāt worry. Also cook nice stuff. You will lose weight eating two chocolate bars a day if the total is below your daily energy expenditure.
I stopped losing weight, this isnāt working!
Only because you weigh less, so your energy expenditureās gone down as well. You can shave off another 200 or more calories and lose more weight. If you lose weight at 2000 calories, then if you go down by 200, this is actually what many people eat everyday, not as a diet, so it wonāt be that hard.

Food is nourishment. Itās job is to give me energy to get through the day. Itās job is to give me nutrients, help me get stronger, and fuel my brain. It is not a replacement for real life. It is not about pleasing my brain, it is about pleasing my body. True change starts at the very foundation. Change your relationship.

Calories really do make a difference in our diet. See how the foods are the same in each row but one row has more calories. It doesnāt look like much food but calories is what matters, not at how little you eat.Ā
Calling all weight loss ādisordered eatingā is just rude to people who actually struggle with eating disorders. There is a huge difference between loving yourself+wanting to lose weight because you feel itāll improve the quality of your life and having an eating disorder where you eat less than 500cal a day/throw up everything you eat/etc because youāre disgusted with your body. Not everyone who wants to lose weight wants to because of self-hatred.
A lot people with eating disorders have their lives revolve around their weight and food intake (before I recovered from anorexia that was the only thing that mattered to me). Healthy weight loss doesnāt.
This, I am so sick of EDs being misused. Calling someone eating disordered just because they eat healthy or count calories and budget them and limit sugar is like calling everyone autistic who is shy and introverted and good at math and seeing patterns. Lot of people donāt even know what an ED is.Ā

Why do I even have to say this? The trained medical staff of the ER need to know your weight to treat you right. This is not fatphobia. They want to save your life you fucking nut.
And it doesnāt matter if youāre underweight, healthy weight or overweight.
They have to know so you donāt fucking die. Nobody cares if your feelings are hurt because they weigh you.
They weigh everyone. Average sized, scrawny, fit, curvy, underweight, bony, you name it.

We really need to normalise exercising and eating well for reasons other than losing weight or building huge amounts of muscle. Iāve started going to the gym recently to relieve stress and help me sleep but despite the fact that I fit into shirts and skirts in size small, Iāve been asked if Iām trying to lose weight numerous times.Ā
Hereās a list of non-aesthetic reasons to exercise:
relieves stress
keeps you healthy
improves sleep
can have a positive effect on mental health
makes you stronger and fitter
something to focus on other than work/school/uni

I have been health shamed too and thin shamed and accused of having an eating disorder by my family. Itās annoying but I donāt get all upset about it. Lot of people have no idea what an eating disorder is.Ā
i think some people get upset when they hear āeat less, exercise moreā like they think weāre telling them to eat an apple as their entire calorie intake for the day, and run 10 miles every morning before work and then go to the gym on your lunch break. but what weāre really saying is to start off slow, replace candy bars with fruit, drink water instead of soda, take a walk outside once a day, and then slowly do more as you build up strength and get used to your healthy lifestyle. it isnāt hard.
The misuse of the term anorexic really annoys me. To be anorexic you need an underweight bmi and/or to have lost your period if you're a woman. Yes bigger people can develop eating disorders but that would fall under EDNOS. Not anorexia. Starvation mode is a stupid belief too. Your metabolism can slow down a little but not enough to make you gain weight on a small amount and on 600 you would continue on losing. Ugh.
