(I need quiet time, and I need to be away from the game for a while, so I’m putting all of my blogs on hiatus effective immediately, and I’ll be largely unreachable for a while

Heretics Walk the Streets
Ware, faithful child of Ishgard:
When chaos and uncertainty reign, all manner of fearful tales are wont to spread, and difficult it may be to sort the sensible warnings from the baseless hysteria.
Mayhap you, pious child, have heard rumor of heretics walking the streets in unprecedented numbers, so embolded by the turn of recent events that they have no fear of conducting their business in plain daylight. Some say that heresy now prefers the capital and grows faster and more weedlike in Saint Reymanaud’s shadow than it ever did when exiled to the corners of Coerthas.
Not all the rumors spread in these troubled times have basis in truth, but this one, alas, has fact as foundation.

“I thought your ears looked a little pointed. So, you’re an outlander and a mongrel?”
“I mean, I know it’s not the same thing…what with both your parents being Ishgardian…and I know it’s not an easy topic for you…sorry…”
“Love, are you suggestin’ what I think you’re suggestin’?”
“Yeah…I know…but hey, at least we have something in common, huh?” He is drunk, so topics were bound to change quickly.
“And what, exactly, do we have in common?”
“Ugh…only if you mean sick and tired of cold weather…I miss the Shroud right now…” Yup, he’s homesick, just his luck.
“Unfortunately, I don’t have a cure for that.”
“Everything is so sodding cold thought, even the damned beds…what good is real if it’s cold as the floor I’m already on?”
“...You’re not sick, are you?”
“Ish my bed, I can shleep whenever the bleeding hellsh I want on it…”
“Technically speakin’ it’s Gibrillont’s floor, but anyroad--up you get. There’s a nice, real bed waitin’ for you upstairs.”
“zzzz”
“Had too much to drink, did you? Come on, get up, the floor isn’t a good place to sleep it off.”

Just to let people know that you will not be upset or uncomfortable if their characters do develop crushes and act/make advances to your characters! Also if you’re ok with certain characters but not others than please specify! (◡‿◡)
“So if you would have an end, you would make it such an end that the dragons remember it for eternity, eh?” It was not a bad thought–undying glory was the same as immortality, after all.
“I must think. Dragons usually favor air attacks–the ballistae, if manned by those with eagle eyes, will deter them… a dragoon could help drive them to the ground. It would help to have a man that could keep them busy on this squad–but this would work fine when it joins with another regiment, I am sure.” If only he could be everywhere… the Gate of Babylon, surely, was firepower enough to pierce a dragon’s hide. But… this was not his fight, all the same. “… If the dragons come, they will need to stay together. A broken wedge is useless.”
“So what you’re sayin’ is we should expect them to be all together, in one big group? That’ll make things easier...” She didn’t like thinking about this--the possibility that Aymeric’s troops would fail and the dragons would breach their defenses--and a part of her longed for when her mission was simpler. Improving the lot of lowborn seemed to her a much easier goal to achieve than defending a whole city.
But this was war, real war, and Hilda would not have her name synonymous with craven.
“You seem to know what you’re doin’, any advice on escape plans? If things go really wrong, how many should I spare to get the civilians out?”
“Actually, that’s why I’m here. It’s not quite dragon-slaying, but I’ve got experience with both lancer and firearms training. If you’ll have me around to help.”
“I’d be thrilled to have you on board, lad. I’ve seen you barking at the recruits for the Order, think you can work some of that magic on these louts?”
“I wouldn’t worry too much, Hilda. The Watch might be a lot of things, but they’re not slackers.”
“You obviously haven’t met the newest recruits.”
“Besides, we’re revolutionaries, not guards. There’s a lot of trainin’ needed, if we’re to fill in while you’re all out dragon-slaying. Not to mention what happens in a worst case scenario...”

He lowered his voice, that the other recruits would not hear. “Just because someone must do something does not mean they can. ‘Failure is not an option’, they always say, but sometimes the odds are too great.” Gilgamesh contemplated her force, a handful of odd gunmen and spearmen. “… Move those ranged men to the back.”
“We have to try,” she said, lowering her voice to match. “Even if we fail, the horde won’t take the city that easily.” She watched the stranger, wondering why he was showing an interest, but questions aside, Hilda wouldn’t refuse help where she could get it. She nodded at his suggestion, and focused on her troops again. “Right, you two!” she barked, waving to the two machinists standing there. “Move to the back, you’ll be our cover fire!”
“Any other helpful ideas? You clearly know more about this than we do.”
“Not anymore, but once thugs do not become an organized fighting force overnight. You cannot help me, no… but I have curiosity. Do you believe they will prevail?”
“And that’s exactly why we’re doin’ drills now. They’ve gotta be ready for the real thing in...too soon, honestly. They’ll have to win, won’t they? If the soldiers don’t come back, we’re all that’s left...”
