Trust was a big word for Caleb, but it was one he was willing to offer up for the time being. “I trust you. Sure,” he said with a shrug. Rolling his eyes at the thought of her leading the dance, he just shook his head, reaching over the flick the radio station when a particularly annoying Miley Cyrus song beamed from the speakers. “That won’t be necessary, Freckles,” he said, narrowing his eyes. “I refuse to be led by a woman,” he teased.
“Confident is the only way to be.” she responded, catching his eye when he looked over at her. Her fingers tapped rhythmically as he continued to drive. “Great.” Isla smiled softly, softening her usual judging features. “I won’t let you down. Promise.”
The blonde couldn’t help but let out an airy laugh, honestly taken back by his words. “Freckles?” she began. “Already have a nickname for me? A little early for those.” her smile gave away her joking. “And why is that? Is it just an alpha male thing or a confidence lacking thing?”
