FIVE DEEDS TO DO BEFORE GOING TO BED

Once the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) directed Hazrat Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) to do five deeds every night before going to bed. They are:

Give four thousand as alms before going to bed.

Recite the Holy Qur'an before you go to bed.

Pay the price for Heaven before going to sleep.

Reconciliate between two quarrellers before you go to bed.

Before going to bed perform Hajj.

On hearing these instructions Hazrat Ali said: "O Apostle of Allah it is impossible for me." Then the Prophet (S.A.W.) explained and said:

Reward of reciting the Surah Fatihah four times before going to bed is equal to the reward of four thousand dinars.

Before you go to bed recite Surah Ikhlaas three times, its reward is equal to reward of reciting the Holy Qur'an.

Before you sleep, say: "Astaghfirullaah" ten times, its reward is equal to reward of reconciliation between two quarrellers.

Before going to bed recite Holy Duruud ten times. It will be price of Heaven.

Go to bed after saying third Kalimah four times; by doing so you will obtain reward equal to that of Hajj.

On hearing this explanation Hazrat Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) replied, "O Apostle of Allah! Now I will perform these good deeds every night before going to bed."
