DESCENDANTS HEADCANON: Being Evie’s younger sister and dating Carlos (Part 1)
Requested by @winterxisxcomingx. Thanks for the request, it was really fun to write and I hope you like it! I decided to divide it in 2 parts, this first one focuses on the “Isle of the lost” book (so it’s about the reader’s relation with Evie and how she gets to know Carlos) and the second part is going to be about the events shown on the movies, I hope that’s alright.
When you and Evie were finally able to go out again, you were excited and uncertain. You had no idea if Maleficent's banishment was finally over or if your mother had just lost it for good but getting away from that castle, from her constantly "fixing" you and your sister and from that mirror voice she made while talking to herself was worth taking a shot
You and Evie were very close as you had to grow up with only each other as company. You'd let her talk about what she had been studying, she didn't have to play dumb with you (at least not if your mother wasn’t around to remind her "men don't like it when a woman is clearly smarter than them, sweety. Noone likes a know-it-all, specially with pale cheeks like that, oh my, where is your blush?")
None of you were ever good enough for your mother and you felt constantly compared to your sister. "Y\N, look at your hair! Is it possible that I couldn't even teach you how to braid it properly? Just let your sister do it for you."
And Evie did, she always did it and always told you how it was not bad. "You're younger, I’ve had more time to learn how to do it. And she's exaggerating, y\n\n, your hair looks beautiful." "Thank you, Evie". You took a look in the mirror and sighed, your sister hugged you from behind, her chin resting on the top of your head as you sat in front of her "The fairest sisters of them all, uh?" you said with a forced smile, she answered with a sad nod, "Do you want to do something else? Anything, really."
When it was time for the party Mal had planned at Carlos’, you were beyond excited, you hadn’t been to a party since Evie’s birthday and you had been so young
Once you were there and Mal had tricked your sister into Cruella’s fur closet, you tried to run inside it but Carlos stopped you “You can’t go in, it’s terrible in there.” “Exactly! And I need to help Evie.” “You’re not going to help, you’re just going to be stuck in the closet as well.”
You gave him an annoyed look that became one of full anger as you turned it towards Mal, starting to make your way to her. Once Carlos realized you intended on confronting her, his eyes widened and he held your wrist “Are you crazy?!”
He was able to take you away from the party and to his bedroom. Both of you sat in front of a door, waiting for Evie to come out or for a noise that would help you understand what was happening in there
It was difficult to stay mad at the boy after you noticed how he also turned to the door at every noise. It was as if his instinct was to go in and help her as well, but he held himself back and looked at you to make sure you weren’t going to run inside. He was afraid and you could understand that
One particularly loud noise and you were up on your feet. He stood in front of you with almost pleading eyes
You crossed your arms and looked around to try and think about something else, “Is this your bedroom?”
He looked embarrassed as he tried to make excuses for the lack of comfort in there. It’s not like anyone had a comfortable place to live in the isle but you had somehow expected the son of Cruella to at least have pillows or a decent blanket for the cold nights, you were sure his mother had it
Once your sister was out of that horrible place, you hugged her and checked for any wounds
Time passed and not only Evie became close to Carlos, Jay and Mal but so did you, specially to the De Vil boy
He was the one you trully saw as a friend, the one who would listen to you when you had a bad day, who would let you talk happily about the things you liked and the one who you couldn’t help but notice had the bightest smile when showing you his inventions. Yeah, you had developed a crush on him...
More than once, you caught yourself just staring at him when he was explaining about how it worked and it was in one of those times, you did something you never knew you had the guts to
“So if I got it right this time, it should work and we’ll be able to... Y\n?” You looked up at the mention of your name “Are you alright? You are not even listening to me.”
You didn’t answer, you held his hand instead; the confused way he looked at your fingers intertwined made you smile and before he could ask you about it, you tugged him closer, putting your lips together
He let the work on his machine for another day and you sat on your sister’s bed that night, telling her all about the way you kissed him and how he kissed you and then you kissed him again and soon that competition didn’t matter anymore as you both just laughed, cuddled together, pecking each other’s lips or cheeks or foreheads from time to time just to grin again at the fact that you could do it.
