Marauders halloween party: James is dressed as Dumbledore, Peter is a ghost, Sirius is a werewolf (haha), and Remus as Count Dracula.

James, Sirius and Peter had started a game of exploding snap on the floor, much to the annoyance of other Gryffindors trying to study - to which Sirius had retorted that the library was “made for nerds like them”. Dorcas pointed out the legitimate argument that they weren’t allowed to wear pyjamas in the library. “What are you boys going as for Halloween?” Lily asked, stretching out on the couch.

“Vampire, probably,” Remus answered first, holding up his copy of Dracula as evidence. No doubt he was reading it for extra credit in Muggle Studies.

“A ghost,” Peter offered.

“Dumbledore,” James said, wiggling his eyebrows.

“Werewolf,” Sirius said without hesitation. Silence fell over the group. They all looked up, trying to gauge the reaction of the others. Sirius kept looking at his cards like nothing had happened, although Lily could see a grin starting to grow damningly on his face. The tension was diffused by Remus, who snorted into laughter, and the others followed suit.

This was in contrast to the only Wizarding photograph on the walls, which was a picture of four Hogwarts students standing arm in arm, laughing at the camera. With a leap of pleasure, Harry recognized his father; his untidy black hair stuck up at the back like Harry’s, and he too wore glasses. Beside him was Sirius, carelessly handsome, his slightly arrogant face so much younger and happier than Harry had ever seen it alive. To Sirius’s right stood Pettigrew, more than a head shorter, plump and watery-eyed, flushed with pleasure at his inclusion in this coolest of gangs, with the much-admired rebels that James and Sirius had been. On James’s left was Lupin, even then a little shabby-looking, but he had the same air of delighted surprise at finding himself liked and included…  or was it simply because Harry knew how it had been, that he saw these things in the picture?
