something about how norahs conversation with her dad centered on feeling out of control and finding ways to take a hold of your life and cope with responsibility, followed immediately by an encounter in which the only way out is to relinquish control... the way norah was setting up to confess her dislike of the flute and ask to be away from the river, finally utilizing her autonomy in a supportive environment, and she struggled all the way up until it almost killed her but eventually had to give up and let whatever happened happen. so much of norahs story centers around autonomy and her lack thereof and it hurts so bad :,,(
Hmm this is random but I can't stop thinking about the line "take my hand and set me free" from the Riptide Sea Shanty. It just fits for literally everyone in this fucking campaign.
Whether it's Chip reaching out a hand, desperately trying to find Arlin and smt from his past. Or Jay reaching. Her too desperate to find answers about her sister but also where she fits in this world. Gillion trying to find answers about his sister as well but also desperately trying to understand what this role of the chosen one means for him. Or Aurora LITERALLY reaching out and asking for help with her big decisions she is supposed to make. Lizzie wants a world where people get justice for the wrongdoings made against them where she is looking for people to help her achieve that. Queen reaching out to their captains about not knowing themselves and being scared. Bare with me cuz this one is insane (more of a theory) Niklaus reaching a hand out to make deals. Plotting and playing with everyone's desires in what seems to be the only way to ultimately set himself free from the immortal curse he is under. I can go on and on about all of them. All of them need others to help them with what they seek. Our trios story started with Chip reaching out a hand and it just kept going.
All their goals go back to the big theme of reaching for freedom and peace in this chaotic world and it all makes me sick. Anyways goodnight

Episode 125 spoilers ahead
There's a lot of angles to this that can be seen. As funny as parts of the segment of amputating Jay's leg was there was a big part of me that was quite annoyed by how it was handled.
As an able-bodied person I cannot speak for people who have disabilities that affect their mobility in day to day life. But in story Jay's leg getting fucked has been a huge deal to her. I can move passed that we kind of "forgot" about it as soon as the Undersea arc started but the amputation could've been handled so much better than to make a joke out of it. Just the idea that THEY decided to do it when the whole plan was "we have great doctors in trench" is kinda crazy to me.
I know a lot of people in this community who have felt so seen by all the NPC with various limbs missing or that use prosthetic so it just feels wrong to portray an already traumatic thing even more traumatic just for shits and giggles.
Representation aside even in story it was just cruel. Grizzly tells them twice that they can make this amputation as comfortable as possible for Jay yet when she wakes up they don't even try to get her back to sleep. Like truly if any type of magical sleep wasn't an option literally a punch would've been enough probably.
Even the aftermath was handled so badly in my opinion. Jay is actively telling the crew she is in pain and they dismiss her to talk about Gillions hand that isn't even hurting? The conversation is literally switched to them giving Gillion a hook for a hand while Jay is inconsolable in the back.
The argument here can be "oh Gillion also lost his hand" which yeah he did. The difference is his hand is frozen. He isn't feeling anything. Jay got her leg cut off without any anesthesia. That's soldiers in war type shit not a we have a cleric and druid who can help but we don't use them shit. Gillion also got a moment in character to express how he felt about loosing the hand and even time to process that it happened. Jay didn't. And that doesn't sit right with me.
I am not saying the council should've known better I not. I am just pointing this out to bring light to it. Able-bodied people very often fall into things like this because ableism is normalized in society and is hard for so many people to see because the world works good for their abled-body. I hope this post can help people see other angles to how this story is portrayed. No show is perfect but willingness to have a dialog about it is how we can make more people feel welcomed in our community.
To end this post I just hope they let Jay have a proper moment about the whole situation. That MAYBE there will be a point in future eps where our characters realize how traumatizing it was to put Jay through that and maybe even apologize to her about it.

yeah it actually really bothered me too as a disabled person and i felt like i was overthinking or something, so hearing the able-bodied people saw something too is nice. i understand that maybe they just weren't "in it" yet, but that moment had so much gravity for jays character and she and aurora were the only ones taking it seriously- especially after we found out that jays story beat was (accidentally) taken by chip with the dread queen. i dont usually subscribe to the misogyny argument with jays character bc a lot of it is just rooted in condis tendency to play "supporting characters", but here it felt really prevalent and nightmarish. i literally felt like i was listening to another dream segment, the dichotomy was terrible.
then again, it is just a horrible thing to have to do and i can see the argument of derealization in this moment. but i hope jays leg gets the attention it deserves, and i really want her to confront them about it. im not super hopeful she'll have good disability rep :/

Gosh where do I even start with her. Me and her are on a love-hate relationship. To preface this I'll start by saying how well made her character is. Something about characters that are built with so much complexity scratches my brain. SO LOVE YOU DM GRIZZLY. YOU ARE THE BEST DM GRIZZLY. PLZ AND THANK YOU DM GRIZZLY
All cards on the table I am and forever will be an elder and prophecy hater. Since day one none of it has ever made any sense to me. It is not until now that we have finally gotten en explanation to the exile part which also played a part in this hatred of mine. But atlas it still remains.
With that said let's start with my hate or dislikes for the ones who don't like strong words like that. She is very. VERY educated. She is the head of defense, foreign affairs, economics and ALL knights are under her including their training. That is not smt anyone can achieve easily. So the way she lacks so much empathy yet can be understanding the next second is so crazy?! Not only did you train Gillion a CHILD SOLDIER and made it hell because you kept treating him as a fully developed adult with the most unreasonable goals but you also can't even muster up an apology after Gillion tells you how much that fucking training ruined him and made him think all of you hated him?!
She is also so dismissive. Her frustration seemed to alway get out on Gillion and she became very angry at the thought of Odilath "babying" the chosen one as if HE WASN'T A BABY
I don't think it is far fetched to say that Celest probably spent the most time with Gillion before he was exiled so the fact that she never noticed smt had to be wrong with how much he was struggling feels so odd. Odilath couldn't have been there all the time so how tf does that just pass right under the nose of the head of defense?!
Memories missing or not it just doesn't make any sense. To use her religion against her this is THE chosen one of the prophecy. Yes you never really gave up on him except at the end but you also never made an effort to try to understand why it wasn't going well?! Or yk try being nice...
She also says it herself. She was too blinded by her own pride to notice it. I might be the harsh one here but holy shit. She truly believed that being harsher and more training would get him in line.
Now to what I like. She is a fucking bad ass we cannot deny her that. I am a bit sad we never got to see her fight but there is for sure a reason why Odilath froze them all and dipped.
The way she seems so calculated and just so smart makes me so excited but also scared to see more of her in the future x)
But what got me the most in my feelings was the very obvious sibling love she has for Caspian. Can't speak for Caspian as he barely talked anything about her when he mentioned her once but Celest clearly cares for him a lot and is actively thinking about him at times. She can call him a thief and an outcast all she wants but there is no denying the fact that she cares about him. Which. Giving their history is understandable. Caspian is her only family left kinda.
And this is why it's so hard to understand her as a character. She has so many layers and as we get more of her she just keeps getting more and more complex. My hope is that someday she can recognize her mistakes further and then apologize to Gillion for it.

Oh one last psa. Don't get me started on Tuc and Allrock. Just the idea of an old bitch who can foresee the future and somehow never saw any of this coming and then another old bitch who can barely speak in normal speed even after he is put on x2 speed is MENTAL and makes me want to throw some punches.

the way gillion was introduced in the hole in the sea oneshot ("and the much younger boy- you... maybe or maybe not remember the name of. you've seen him around here and there, he attends some of your seminars, a very bright-eyed boy. gillion, maybe").
the sheer amount of detail he put into his logs, that wouldn't be necessary for an outside reader to know; exact temperatures and times and the direction of the wind, pages upon pages going on about the sky and the types of clouds he saw and the humidity in the air. like he's trying to paint himself a picture in his mind so he'd be able to remember it just by reading the words.
writing hundreds, possibly thousands of books in his lifetime, with no mention of fictional stories- from what books we've seen of his it seems like finn writes from his life almost exclusively, with the exception of his research. yes he wrote for his job, and he loves his job, but I wonder if there was more to it than that.
