What would happen if someone fell into the dark fountain?

Not the dark world, not falling through a light world door, but the actual prismatic pillar we see before sealing the fountains. What if someone just. Took a swim.

Bonus points: what if someone was inside one as a fountain was sealed. Logic would dictate they are just spat out like everyone else. But I think that this is what happened to dess.

I get why they most likely don’t mention it, for people backed by big publishers there’s probably an instinct to stay away from this sort of thing, but man if I was an author of one of the booktok bigs and knew people were making ai versions of my characters, I would be so pissed. That would be like the highest insult in my eyes. Someone could show me a stick they found that sort of looks like a stick figure version of my OC and that would mean infinitely more to me than 1000 Jacobny Cavillordi homunculi

I know that segment was a joke, but the whole time I had this odd lingering feeling. A character associated with the color orange, trapped away where only we can hear, only visible through shadows on the wall.

Ok that’s kind of where the actual connections end, but with Aqua also feeling like a maybe reflection of Kris as a child what with the knives, copying others (Kris and the knights mirrored poses), and general mischievousness, I feel like it has weight. If not an actual connection (I doubt it’s that deep tbh), it’s an interesting parallel and something I might think on when characterizing Dess. (I’m a Knight is Fear truther atm)

Concept me and a party member are kind of working on in the background:

Stormpunk, or the Stormlight RPG era 2.5

Since canon is out the window anyway, we decided to make the setting a “post shard roshar” in a way. After unspecified events, the shards of odium and honor folded into one another, creating a weird feedback loop where neither can really act as they are crushed by the others power. The exact mechanics don’t work or need to make much sense, it’s just setdressing. What it enables is a massive flow of warlight through the planet, and a state of “cognitive entanglement” where the cognitive and physical realms begin to intersect near high investiture locations. The old world is gone, left unrecognizable by the decades of eternal rain. Even those scarce places untouched by the Night of Sorrows feel the effects. In this new world, the silver cities have risen again, each a glittering metropolis of light and industry. Fabrial technology has rocketed forward, allowing even the most common man to stand alongside the radiants of old.

Speaking of the radiants, their role has changed significantly. With no looming war to unite them, the already tenuous relationships between certain orders fractured further, and even began to break apart entirely. While some stand side by side with the corporations that rule the cities, others have taken to the shadows, fighting for the old way of life which may never again exist.

Uhh yeah anyway this is just a fun side project I’ve been working on with for my cosmere rpg group. It came about when the image of a listener band popped into my head, which led to shardguitar which led to this. Why am I posting it? Because it’s more fun than having the notes live in obsidian like all the other projects I have. Idk how much I’ll post about it tbh, probably just whatever I’m working on at the moment. Currently I’m focused on urithiru, because I think a tower city is a sick setting for this kind of thing, but I might expand who knows.

It would be cool if MAWSM had Nia Nal show up at one point. With Kara being a central character, I would love to see that aspect of the CW show brought over. Kara making a friend outside of the main cast could also be a fun plotline.

Hate when someone comes out talking bad about romantasy/booktok even when I agree.

Mostly because for every one semi nuanced point they tend to have (over reliance on trope marketing, glorification of misogynistic ideals, etc.) there’s always 3 more that come across as near rage bait with how bad they are. This latest catastrophe of an article has an entire segment about FMCs with disabilities, which I think is weird to complain about but whatever.

My very belabored point is that there is so much to criticize in this space. Things that cause actual harm, and things that aren’t inherently bad but should still be looked at with a critical eye. But when these articles and think pieces constantly come back to the same points about smut and women reading fairy porn (a term I’m starting to really dislike ngl (except in that one instance)), it flattens what should be a space to talk about these real problems to moral grandstanding about what women enjoy, which doesn’t help anyone.

I’m not defending romantasy fandoms or booktok here. I’m not going to do that after seeing how quick some of them were to call a trans woman who was a little mean a male hating on real women for enjoying things. But focus on the real problems, I promise the smut can’t hurt you. Focus on the obsession with ai images, just talk about anything else.

My distaste for booktok and the community is has cultivated is superseded by my burning loathing for the anti smut “activist” accounts infesting Instagram. Hydras those ones, I block 3 and 9 more appear.

Yes, booktok can be (sometimes unintentionally I believe) trans exclusionary at best and oftentimes far worse. And I do believe that there are some elements of misogyny baked pretty deep into certain tropes.

But NONE of this is the result of, or even “evidence” of, some moral failing among modern women. It’s all just purity culture “sex is wrong and immoral” BS and it pisses me off. Because there are so many valid reasons to criticize booktok. But this whole moral panic about smut ruining the minds of our precious women is just ridiculous.

CASE in point I just stumbled across an ad for a book ranking service that ranks books on cleanliness. One of the categories was LGBTQ+ content. Hmm, weird how that’s considered something that needs a warning label. I thought this was about explicit content. But then why is a queer book with no sex rated the same as a straight book with. Hugs and kisses are a 1, unless they are gay, then it’s a 3. Also for some reason the scale for religion goes from “positive religious messaging” to “satanic content or rituals.” Anyway read more smut happy pride and fuck book banners 😊
