< sorry for the sudden absence. i’ve been rounding ‘bout for a directory/collective to join and i have yet to succeed on doing so. for the meantime, though, like this if you want a starter~ i’ve been wanting to build relationships w/ this muse & never had the time to ;; >
“Hey, at least you can’t say I didn’t warn you.” He laughs, hand reaching for a piece of toast. As expected of Joohui. Words always manage to flow into her ears late for some unknown reason. He takes a quick glance at his hand watch that reads 8:45. Plenty of time to kill. “You could,” he agrees while biting into his toast. “But I won’t allow it. Anyway, pretty sure the whole world is aware that it takes less than 5 minutes to fix my hair.” It’s like she doesn’t even know him and he is slightly offended.
After gulping down his coffee, he raises the now empty cup as if to show it off and places it in front of the younger. “Your turn to wash dishes.” The chair he’s sitting in creates a sharp screech when he moves it back to leave the kitchen area, his feet leading towards the living room. TV sounds good right about now. It’s not like he has to rush to get ready anyhow.
“You mean what’s left of it?” She chimes in a teasing manner. She always had the knack of pushing on people’s buttons, and her brother is no exemption to that. Joohui was against his new haircut, despite it being anything but new, which is why she doesn’t let any opportunity to make a joke out of it slip past her fingers. “I kid, I kid. You look great.” The statement was followed by a snort as the female finished chewing on the last bit of her breakfast, before proceeding to empty her morning coffee. One cup is never enough when she has to deal with children for five hours straight, so she made a mental note to drop by a coffee shop later that day.
An apparent groan is heard from the younger one, but she knows better than to complain. “Yes, sir!” She salutes at no one, diligent fingers stacking the plates on top of each other as well as the mugs used before making her way to the sink. She turns on the tap water after putting on a pair of gloves- she just did her nails the night before, like hell she’ll have them be ruined now. “Oh, that reminds me” Joohui calls out, loud enough to be heard over the sound of running water. “We have to get the groceries today. We’re out of juice!”

“Considering who you are, yes. I can.” She nodded quite enthusiastically before her lips broke out into a confident grin. The store was bustling with kids, seeing that it was that time of the year where parents would like to gift their kids Build-A-Bear merchandise but yet Sana seem to find time to bug Joohui. “Hey hey, later, do you think we can grab something to eat? I’m hungry.” Then her eyes downcast to the floor, avoiding eye contact. “But do you think you can pay? I spent my paycheck on sweets again…”
Spineless. Terrifyingly spineless, the way she asked to be treated out so casually. Joohui often wonders if she influenced the younger one with her sporadic shameless outbursts, or if she’s always been this way and Joohui just failed to notice. Either way, she was impressed. “You know, usually it’s the one who asks that pays.” She began, standing up from where she’s stationed and without any warning, pushes the unfinished toy in the other’s arms. “But I’ll humor you this once, so long as you stitch this up for me. Deal?”
“Don’t you crumple your face up at me.”
Winter arrived rather early this year, something Joohui was more than thankful for. The cold, brisk weather means that people are smart enough to stay indoors, thus lowering traffic and the chances of a packed afternoon at her favorite coffee place. That’s what she thought, at least. ’Packed’ would be an understatement considering how there was little to no space for anyone to move upon entering the cafe, the doors blocked by the masses of bodies all huddling in the corner for warmth. The young female wouldn’t call it luck to have accommodated a booth for herself minutes before the rush of people, seeing as how someone found it easy to spot her amongst other faces and had took it upon themselves to ruin Joohui’s solitude.
”Don’t you crumple your face up at me.”
She scrunches her face yet again for no reason other than to spite him. Cold fingers wrap themselves around her cup before bringing it to her lips, letting the steam warm her face as she takes small, tentative sips. “I didn’t peg you for a people person. Or are you here to leech off of my cookies, because-” She holds two fingers up “-I charge twice as much.”
“What have you been gathering today little sister?”
She cocks a brow upon hearing the familiar voice, her head tipped slightly sideways as she eyes the younger of the pair. “Would you believe it if I were to tell you I’ve been gathering evil spirits to summon into this bear?” Joohui lifts the lifeless toy, one that lacks quite a noticeable lot of stuffing. One of the kids had managed to spill their coffee on one of their displays. Yes, giving coffee to a twelve year old sounds like really great parenting, she thought seconds before the incident happened, which brings her current situation. “And from what I recall, seniority doesn’t come from height. Little sister...” She mutters the last bit to herself, carefully pulling the stuffed toy from the machine. Now comes the part she dislikes the most: Stitching.

Four slices of toast are placed on a plate, each covered with a decent amount of butter. The coffee maker finishes filling up the mugs Yongguk had placed under it earlier and makes way to prepare the drinks to his and his sister’s liking. Careful not to burn himself, he grabs the mugs by their handles before placing both on the kitchen counter top to join the sugar and cream. One teaspoon of sugar and cream for him and two and a half teaspoons of sugar and loads of cream for Joohui. He slowly looks up at the sound of, speak of the devil, his sister’s voice.
“Mornin’, sleepy head,” he smiles, gums and all. “Nothing special. Buttered toast and coffee. Here.” He stirs the liquid once more, making sure it’s blended well and finally walks over to the table with the toast platter and coffee mugs. “Be careful. It’s still hot. The coffee, I mean,” he says while taking a seat. It’s funny how he usually warns her about the tiniest things, but it’s not like he can help it either. “What time are you supposed to be in today?”
“Mm” Came her own shortened rendition of a ‘Morning’ as she lifts her elbow on the table, chin settling on the center of her palm, eyes at rest at the busy figure of his brother. Over the past few years they’ve decided to live independently from their parents, Yongguk has managed to learn a few (specifically three) recipes on his own, which is enough for the siblings to last a decade longer compared to living off of instant noodles. “Thank you~” She chimes, fingers curling around the handle of her mug as she takes a small sip, hissing at the sting on her tongue from the heat she was asked to be cautious of. “Warn me earlier next time.” The younger one played it off like it wasn’t her fault, scrunching her nose in distaste.
”10 o’clock sharp, if we’re talking about being punctual.” She says between chews, crumbs unceremoniously flying from her mouth to the place mats on the table. A true lady, Joohui is. “Could always clock in around the same time as you and tell them you were taking too long doing your hair.” Grinning, she takes another sip from her drink, more careful than before.

Pale covers rustled as the sleeping form beneath it awakens from deep slumber with a close-mouthed groan, arms stretched cat-like above her head before proceeding to blindly reach for the blaring sound of her alarm. It can’t possibly be morning already, but the small rays of sunshine peaking through the blinds were enough indication to prove her thought otherwise. With a harrumph, Joohui dragged herself out of bed. She knows lazing around in bed any longer than necessary will give the people at work more reason to give her a load-full for the possibility of being late to work (again), and she’d rather not deal with that.
“Guk-ah,” She greets sleepily upon entering the kitchen, resting her chin on the dining table after sitting down, eyes leering towards the general direction of her brother. “What’s for breakfast?” Joohui asks, as she does everyday, despite knowing he could hardly crack an egg open, much less cook anything other than that.
