Umbridge and cat McGonagall
Okay so I’ve seen a few posts on what would happen if Umbridge found McGonagall in cat form at Hogwarts and all the cute (and devilish) stories that followed, but I have a problem with those theories. Every (legal) animagus is registered with the Ministry of Magic.
This includes all their characteristics while in animal form. McGonagall is for sure registered there.
Umbridge worked at the Ministry of Magic and I cannot imagine her not having checked if there are any animagi at Hogwarts (if she didn’t already know). She would know McGonagall can shape shift into a cat and she would know what she would look like.
SHE WOULD KNOW. Now, all of that aside. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if she knew the cat she encountered was McGonagall and still pet it and fed it milk?
