What in the fresh heck was the end to Nolan's Odyssey? I mean that film was absolutely beautiful and I liked some of the changes and additions to it.

It actually kind of makes sense though I guess.

hello i was bored so i made a 'greek myth' reskin mod for Balatro

some clips i took when playtesting to see what it looks like in game!! been itching to try something new and that was super fun to do, i might eventually tackle the tarot cards with the gods whenever i feel like procrastinating

if you own the game and happen to be one of the three people interested in playing with this deck yourself, i'll provide the files and more infos below!

Features:

Face cards are modified ♥ Hearts: Paris (J); Helen (Q); Menelaus (K) ♦ Diamonds: Elektra & Orestes (J); Clytemnestra (Q); Agamemnon (K) ♠ Spades: Telemachus (J); Penelope (Q); Odysseus (K) ♣ Clubs: Achilles & Patroclus (J); Andromache (Q); Hector (K)

Aces are modified to correspond to their respective suits

Turning 'Pixel Art Smoothing' on in your graphics settings will enable alternative versions for some cards (Blonde Paris, Black hair Penelope, etc.)

'High contrast cards' are available (though i don't think i did a very good job on it...... will have to fix at some point)

Some minimal QoL changes on non-face cards that probably won't be useful to anyone

How to install:

I made two versions for the sake of being practical

This one is the mod version: Balatroy.zip If your game is not currently modded, it will require you to install some stuff beforehand for Balatro to be able to run mods, i'd only recommend that one if you plan to use other ones as well

If you want to keep your game vanilla, you can download this one instead: Balatroy (unmodded version).zip No prerequisite, but you'll have to manually edit and replace your local game files yourself (very easy though)

whichever version you pick, it should redirect you to a .zip in google drive. Click File > Download. if you extract its contents, you will get a 'Balatroy' folder with the files and their respective instructions in it!

do you ever think about those first few days after the Achaean army won and Penelope received news that the Trojan war was finally over. How elated Penelope would have been, eagerly anticipating the arrival of Odysseus. A smile never leaving her face as she gently assures a nervous 10 year old Telemachus that his father will be so proud of him and adore him when they finally reunite. Penelope hurriedly ushering the house staff to clean the palace and grounds up, to polish their wood furniture, to plant flowers. Distressed in choosing which dress to wear, asking a Eurycleia who can barely contain her laughter if she should wear her bronze or her beaded earrings so she can look her best when they reunite.

It’s a 6-day journey, one surely most of the way over by the time word reached her ears.

A day passes.

Two.

Then a week.

A month.

Another.

Most of the other kings have arrived back to their homelands.

Excitement and anticipation slowly fade away. Worry and dread fill their place. Telemachus looks at her confused and disappointed, he thought he would soon meet his father.

Where was he?

Where was her Odysseus?

8 years had gone by, making it 18 since she had last seen her husband. Penelope was tired. She failed to get out of bed more days than she would like. Entitled, brazen suitors had filled her halls and had been greedily tearing away at her husbands riches, feasting every day without a care.

It felt hopeless.

Then, she received word that Menelaus and her cousin Helen had returned to Sparta.

And suddenly, she’s flooded with feelings she’d almost forgotten.

Joy. Hope.

If those two can return, apparently with even greater riches from Egypt on top of all they’ve won from Ilium, who’s to say her husband couldn’t do the same? That he was still alive, fighting to return to her and their child.

Eurycleia looks on at her in pity. Telemachus looks at her, conflict behind his eyes on a face that reminds her all too painfully of who she had lost.

No, not lost. She could see him again. Would see him again. Even if it took an eternity, even if these suitors tore down the very walls of their palace and depleted every resource of their kingdom.

It’s not rational, she would hear some whisper.

But it didn’t matter.

She was patient.

She was determined.

She would see him come home to her.

So I've been playing Tomodachi life on my switch and my island is Ithaca. And well my avatar is Pallas Athena . So I eventually created Pallas and Athena 🤣

From top to bottom

First row is Achilles, Patroclus, Amphitrite, Pallas and Tiresias.

Second row is an OC Callianeira (who will eventually hopefully be Polites' wife and is Odysseus' sister) Anticleia, Laertes, Poseidon, Athena and Hermes

The final row is Odysseus, Penelope, Polites, Eurylochus and Ctimene.

Edit: I got Telemachus birthed the next day 🤣 So I suppose he's inside of Penelope here
