Hello Tumblr
I do not understand women

THIS is the bear cave painting i was talking about, the line weight, the proportions, the fine details around the face, and the fact that this all had to be drawn from memory, idk man, it’s incredible to me. if i could meet one person from history it’d be the person that painted this bear 30,000 years ago
I have a horrible secret to share. to the five of you who care to keep up with new build a bear releases, you’ve probably noticed a lot of bald yellow animals lately. the lion, pineapple, narwhal, etc. there’s a reason for that. it’s because they made too much of it expecting the minions from despicable me to sell well. but they didn’t. so now they have all this extra yellow fabric to use. so all these new releases? yeah. they’re made out of minion skin

After the third or fourth one I started to think someone was just doing this on purpose.
I nearly didn't install Tumblr on my new phone but then it just copied across all my apps. Then I nearly didn't log in but I realised I hadn't checked it in ages.
Anyway, if there's anyone still out there I'm mostly on Instagram now and chatting on various Discord servers.
This scene from new girl will always be my favorite 😂😂😂
At 50 days into lockdown, David finds Patrick staring worriedly out the window at the wet spring. It’s been one of the coldest and wettest on record, and David assumes he’s worried about the old tree roots or something equally practical, but when he comes to drape himself over Patrick’s back and ask what’s worrying him, Patrick surprises him by saying, “It’s just… it will have fallen out of tune.”
He’s been standing looking out of their yard and worrying about the piano in the Town Hall, sitting alone and unplayed, slowly succumbing to the cold damp, and David thinks it isn’t fair that someone who makes him so happy can also make him so deeply sad. He holds onto Patrick until Patrick shakes off his worry and goes to mess with their CRM software, and then he texts Ronnie.
It only takes a few hours before Ronnie is backing her truck down their driveway with the woman who has been in the background the last few times David’s Facetimed her but whom they’ve never discussed. Patrick’s out for his run in the only two hours of sunshine they’re supposed to have today, so David stays well clear as Ronnie and Hurit lay down some ramps and push it up against the awkward bit of wall in the living room David was thinking of getting some kind of side table for. Hurit tunes it carefully, commenting on what a surprisingly good instrument it is for being abandoned to the Town Hall, and then they go home with the gift baskets David left out on the kitchen island, Ronnie reminding David of his promise that he won’t let Patrick call and thank her “so I don’t have to hear his dumb Leave it to Beaver politeness.”
Patrick cries, when he wanders back down from heading straight for the shower after his run and finds David setting their framed family photos across the top of the piano. (The flags of the world stayed where they belong at the Town Hall.) David cries when Patrick sits down and plays every song David’s ever said he liked, all in a row, starting with “The Best,” until he finally has to stop to address David’s growling stomach.
'kids these days have it easy' thats the point thats the point thats the whole point we're here to make it better for whoever comes after you sad selfish self absorbed puddle of wank
John Adams: “I study war and diplomacy, so that my son may study trade and commerce, so that his son may study art and music.”
I wasn’t sure about that quote, so I looked it up, and it’s a fairly accurate paraphrase of what Adams actually said:
I must study politics and war, that our sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. Our sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history and naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry and porcelain.

i know an engineer-type dude who said fiction bored him, because fiction is mostly-formulaic and tropey, and you can generally guess what’s gonna happen next, and yada yada
so his solution for this problem was… to solely read serial web novels in languages that (1) he did not speak, and (2) for which there was no actual translation, fan or otherwise
apparently, the combined forces of “trying to figure out WTF is going on via the power of Google Translate" + “cultural differences in storytelling conventions” + “the inherent randomness of where the hell amateur authors are gonna take their plots”—those all mashed up to make stories that were unpredictable enough to keep him guessing all the time
then he described to me this totally batshit-sounding Hungarian story he’d been obsessively reading once a week for years
and god i think about him all the time. like. that is the most wild way to process fiction that i have ever heard of, but also, i’ve gotta admire the sheer chaos energy of it
like i tried to tell him suspense isn’t about having no fucking clue what’s going on, it’s about having expectations subverted in novel and interesting ways that nonetheless accord with one’s understanding of the story’s universe, etc
and he’s just like “no. suspense is when i cannot guess what is happening next, full stop. quantum physics is a suspense novel”

Man, I’m kind of bummed out that the best resources for deer anatomy and body language are all on hunting sites. I mean, it makes sense, but it’s still kind of disorienting to be reading along and then have a description end with like, “…so if you see the buck’s ears do that, stay still and keep your gear from making noise”. I’m not crouching in the grass with a compound bow, I’m just an artist! I just want to draw a bunch of fake fictional deer and deer-adjacent creatures, not put on some forest camo and hunt me a Big Antler Boy or w/e in real life!!
Yeesh, I bet I’m going to get targeted ads about hunting equipment now. Just another way that the Research Struggle can be really real sometimes.
Here are amazing deer skeletal references by Rico LeBrun! They were created during production of Disney’s Bambi, to help aid the artists.
