Hi, I'm back
Enjoy yet another previously uncirculating recording featuring the final performance of the early tour arrangement of Brothers In Arms.
Just like Tel Aviv 1985, the show is incomplete, but at least here we have 6 songs in a completely uncut form. Performance-wise, it's a great show though the band did better.
Now it's time for me to enter a month long slumber again
(hopefully not)
okay but mark knopfler actually be lwky adorable
Hammersmith Odeon, London, July 22nd, 1983 (aka secondary Alchemy source)
Just for funsies made a very quick remaster in under a day and posted it. Only speed correction and basic EQ was applied, but it's a lot more bearable than before. Enjoy!
A collection of shots from the band's very first show in Luxembourg, and also the last of the On Location tour, July 6th, 1981
This was the band's first time visiting Luxembourg, they chose the Hall Omnisports as the venue for the concert. This show was originally scheduled for June, but it had to be rescheduled to July 6th, one day after the famous Werchter Festival appearance in Belgium, making it the final stop of the 1980/1981 On Location tour. With that, this is also the very last show with Pick Withers in the band. He left before the Love Over Gold tour began on November 31st, 1982
Ticket for the show Luxembourg show.
The show is really good performance-wise, Mark is having an amazing night vocally and on guitar, John plays well, and Pick is incredibly tight. The tape for this show is not perfect quality-wise, definitively its sound is going to be an instant turn-off for some people, but in my opinion, the show is very much worth checking out. The show is 95% complete, only missing half of News, leaving only the coda still standing.
As promised, I published Tel Aviv 1985 (at least all I have of it) Enjoy!
Never-before-seen shots from the second night at the Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv, Israel, May 2nd, 1985. This is the fourth night of the 1985/86 Brothers in Arms tour.
These have been taken by an attendee who also recorded an audience tape from this night, but determining the date took some detective-work. You see, there is about 30-35 seconds of footage of one of the Tel Aviv nights from a TV report. That footage features snippets of So Far Away and Romeo and Juliet. Unfortunately, the incomplete audience tape from this show does not have those parts to compare, so I had to find an alternate way of figuring out the date. MK is wearing a white suit jacket in the TV report, which after translating the Hebrew spoken, turned out to be May 1st - the first night. Looking back at these photos, you can see Mark wearing a black suit jacket. This discrepancy proves that these photos come from the other night, which is May 2nd, finally putting the mystery to rest. The aforementioned audience tape is the only source for the complete Six Blade Knife '85 arrangement. Split is the other recording of it, but it cuts mid-way through. I'll post the Tel Aviv May 2nd tape on Youtube soon, since it's uncirculating and has not been heard by the greater public yet.
In the studio, recording On Every Street. Early 1991
Dire Straits during the second night at the Rainbow Theatre, December 21st, 1979.
The show is quite special, as it's the final date of the Communique tour, marking the last time the band used their classic pub rock sound. Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy was brought in as a special guest for Solid Rock and special encores, which were old rock 'n' roll covers sung by Phil with MK on backing vocals.
