i took it upon myself to draw another take on taako (the eleventh hour edition)
#taztober day 28: Kiss
âI love you, Taako, and at this point, I think that everyone in reality is going to love you after hearing your story, and⊠nothingâs gonna change that.â
One of the first digital drawings I did when Lup was first introduced which I decided to redraw upon graduating Highschool. Itâs really cool to see the improvement Iâve had over the years and Iâm super proud of how it turned out!!!
[ID] Two digital colored drawings of Lup. The Lup is an elf with tan skin and long wavy blonde hair and a gap between her front teeth. The first drawing shows her sitting floating in the air with her legs crossed, holding a hand up with a flame coming from it. Sheâs grinning, her hair covering one eye. Sheâs wearing a long red robe that falls onto the ground and curls around the edge.Â
The second drawing is a full color drawing of Lup from the thighs up in her lich form, her arms held out to either side. The skin of half of her face and her left arm is gone, showing bones and skull underneath. Sheâs grinning, her hair flying off to the side and sparks flying around her. Sheâs wearing a long red robe with the sleeves rolled up, a black belt around her waist, and black fishnets. She has a determined expression on her face and grey smoke is forming behind her. [end ID]
Hey guys!!Â
The holidays are right around the corner and that means - wow! Iâve been a part of this fandom for a good year. Itâs been a wonderful time.
Iâve been able to create so much art for all of you because Iâve been sick for most of 2017, and unable to work. While I love creating so much content, things are still not going too great for me. On this note, thank you to everyone who has commissioned me, it means the world.
But, in any case, if you enjoy what I do, maybe share this post!! And if you can afford it, maybe you want to send some appreciation towards me over ko-fi!Â

Happy Holidays & wonderful Candlenights to all of you.Â
Sorry I've been so absent! Tumblr mobile sucks but I've got a huge queue of likes ready to reblog once I just log in on my laptop. Meanwhile have some TAZ looks from AUSA this weekend! I did a casual holiday/conservatory Lup and then @hackedmotionart's Suffering Game version of Taako (pics of the full outfit soon). Met so many great people at the TAZ meetup and hopefully will find them all online...! If you were there please let me know!!
the story so far (complete):
There are wars happening in other worlds, but they are other peopleâs wars. This is your war: your war is a search. Your war is chasing and being chased. Your war is unblemished fingers and smoothed-away scars, the same blooming of a bruise over your best friendâs eye. You are never dead. You are always young.
Your war leaves no room for casualties.
Here is what you have learned: everywhere in the multiverse is exactly the same. Here are the cities, here are the towns and the people who live in the towns, or the people-analogues who live in the town-analogues, the point of the metaphor being that everything exists in relation to everything else. Infinite verisimilitude. Here are the worlds that resemble the world that you were born on, the one that some of you donât remember.
âI was twenty when we left,â your other best friend says to you. âIâm still twenty, I guess. It was a long time ago.â
She had only just finished school, she says to you. She had gone out to dinner with her friends to celebrate, and the next day she had pulled on her red jacket and then there was the press conference and boarding the ship. She talks about it like it happened in another life. It did happen in another life, not this life where she does not age (she should be old, she says to you) and you do not age and the two of you watch old movies on the couch in the living room and your brother walks in and lies across the two of you and you push him off the couch and your best friend laughs.
The world narrows to a ship, a set of rooms not meant for long-term cohabitation, four bedrooms that you swap between the seven of you. You and your brother, you and your other best friend, you and your boyfriend. The world narrows to the way your best friend laughs, your captainâs voice over the intercom, quiet conversations with your boyfriend in the dead of the night. Night-analogue. Time is a concept for other people.
You have: 365 days, 24 hours, 60 minutes â shipâs time. The years pass differently on different planets. Orbits are different. Mathematics is different. The slicing of time changes with every new world. You celebrate alien holidays. You wear alien clothing. You are the aliens.
Your brother stopped learning math thirty-something years ago. Youâve stopped learning how to read, mostly. Your brother and you race through worlds like playgrounds. Itâs hard to see the worlds as anything but temporary constructs. Here are the only real things in existence: the Starblaster, the Hunger, the seven of you sitting at dinner that your brother has cooked, talking about what you are going to do next. The long stretches of time between world and world, like a breath held in the lungs, just waiting to land and search and run. Your days not filled with desperation.
There are the good times: Shooting ranges and fireworks and water gun fights. Sunrises across orange skies, passing a wine bottle from hand to mouth to hand on the bank of a foreign river, board game nights and watching old tv recordings from planets that no longer exist. The comfort of company, here are seven hearts that have learned to beat like one.
The best times: sixty years and you look at the man standing next to you and realize that maybe a perfect love does exist. You are not sorry that you made him wait. He says he regrets not asking sooner. You say no, no this was right. It was the only way this could have gone, sixty years to wear the edges off your sharpness, sixty years to build him solid and secure. No other world where you meet as equals.
In another world your boyfriend is old and you are in the prime of your youth and the two of you never intersected.
All planets look the same when being assimilated into the black. You do not dream about it. You sleep and you wake and you dream about the kaleidoscopic everywhere that no longer exists for you, face pointed forward, no turning back.
Everything in the world is always the same. The ship, the crew. The world is never the same, planet and planet and planet like a row of dominos knocked down one after another. Â
If you stop running everything dies. If you keep running you will eventually stop. You are fighting a war against an enemy that does not die. You are always dying.
You drape yourself over your boyfriendâs shoulders. He puts his hand over your hand and laces your fingers together.
âBabe,â you say. âWhat do you know about liches?â
Taakoâs good right here.
Goodbye TAZ! I spent a century listening to this podcast and I didnât forget a thing. Thank you McElroys!!
I cannot believe heâs afraid of elevatorsÂ
I havenât posted a lot of TAZ art over the years, barring my Refuge piece, but the moment Griffin described Careyâs wedding dress in the finale this design crystallized in my brain, fully-formed. Had to commit it to paper. â€ïž
Wanting
@the-sighs-of-sunset requested post-final battle Hurley/Sloane, and I finally have a fic!Â
Sloane sometimes wonders how long they might have slept if they hadnât been woken by the Voidfishâs song. âSleepingâ and âwakingâ were the wrong words precisely for what she and Hurley were in the cherry blossom tree, but in terms of their awareness of the outside world, the concepts werenât entirely inaccurate.
When asked, Sloane liked to tell people that they were honeymooning. Hurley liked to laugh at her when she said things like that, but the wide, wide creak of her smile didnât discourage Sloane in the slightest.Â
âWhat are you smirking at?â Hurley asks now, perched in the branches of their shared tree, overlooking the lingering efforts to restore the great city of Goldcliff to its pre-apocalypse glory.Â
(And possibly also still itâs pre-Sloane glory. Oops.)
Sloane considers lying, briefly. It is a beautiful day, so perfectly peaceful, not a time for potentially difficult conversations. But she has spent too many days with her soul intertwined with Hurleyâs to dishonor her like that.Â
âDo youâŠever regret, that the Red God led you to this life?â she says carefully. And then she looks at Hurley fully, almost desperately earnest, and speaks her true heart: âThat I, led you to this?â
When the Gaia Sash had whispered itâs final offer to Sloane, that fateful day when the silverpoint poison ran black through Hurleyâs veins, she was already a creature of the relic, sap gathered up in channels where her blood once flowed. After all, she had been its creature from the beginning. Sloane had known from the moment she had tied the Sash around her waist that her life would be tied to the relic, and she had done it anyway. The power it had offered was too much to pass up, and in turn she offered herself up to it freely. It was less a moment of weakness and more a fatal flaw, but in that moment she hadnât harbored any regrets.Â
Sloane had never really considered herself a good person. Not that she thought of herself as a bad person necessarily, just, a person. Who made somewhat questionable choices on occasion. She was a thief because she liked being a thief, liked the challenge of planning out a heist and not getting caught at it. She liked the the grey morality and the no-holds-barred stakes of battle wagon racing. She wasnât one to play dirty on the track, but she liked the option being a possibility. She liked the freedom to make choices that elevated her above the realm of ordinary people.
When Sloane, in turn, had murmured the Sashâs final offer into Hurleyâs dying ears, she knew regretâs full weight.
She remembers the pull of the relic, the power, the rush. Sloane sometimes thinks that maybe even more than the thrall, it was fear of what might happen if she didnât take it. All of the lost opportunities. Living with that regret forever. That eternal question of what if sitting in the back of her mind. The relics werenât evil, just powerful. But power spoke to the dark places in people, the reckless places, the places that wanted. And Sloane was so full of wanting.Â
Hurley was a good person, good in every sense of the word. Seduced by fast battle wagons and thieves in black leather, perhaps, but good nonetheless. Infinitely better than Sloane at any rate. She could have been captain of the Goldcliff militia herself one day, if she had wanted it.Â
But she had wanted Sloane.Â
Hurley smiles, soft and serious, head tilted almost wistfully.Â
âSloane,â Hurley says. Just that. Just her name, and Sloane understands.
The language of trees is a slow, steady thing. Less a language of words and more a language of life force, energy exchanged across cell walls, carrying whispers that are more emotion than thought. Their time in the cherry blossom tree had taught them that slow, understanding language, had ingrained it in the very fabric of their bodies, written it into the twist of their spirits. And Sloane feels at once silly and exuberant and overwhelmingly in love.Â
She shifts herself in the branches of the cherry blossom tree, twines herself with Hurley until she doesnât know what is dryad, what is vessel, because it doesnât matter when it is all them, a beautiful tangle. Hurley brushes leaves against her sun-warm cheek, and they sigh as one.Â
They may not be legends, not yet, maybe not ever, but Sloane thinks what they have is better than any bardsong.Â
She wants to be worthy of it.Â
oh my god theyâre so cute
Mavis had never met a Dryad before.
Now she could say sheâd met two.
