homecoming
ravenduluoz:
There is a giggle escaping her lips as Riley speaks up, Raven shifting her weight a bit before she was released, finally able to hover her weight over the other. She obliged to what Ri had requested of her; wanting to give her blonde all that she wanted, desired, and oh so much more. Rae’s own bright hues scan over her girlfriend, lips turning into a bit of a pout as she listened to the other. It tugged at her heart, the fact that Riley was voicing what she had so greatly and deeply desired to say. “Besides my family, I never thought that I would get so close to someone … and then I met you and just …” Raven leans down, finally doing what she had wanted to do since asking if she could get off Riley, and locking their lips together. Most definitely something that could not be done over the phone or their skype calls, and even though Rae had more than once blown kisses and all of that, nothing compared to their closeness - to the real thing. Raven cups Riley’s face, before breaking apart from their kiss ever so slowly ( but she didn’t move her hand away ). “I missed you so much, and I have to admit that I was scared … I didn’t think that you would like what you saw in me now, I don’t know. I was being stupid, huh?” There is a laugh escaping her lips, a light one, and she moves closer again; lips trailing to Riley’s then off to her cheek.
Riley hadn’t expected so much. Raven hadn’t just grown into herself emotionally- her body had caught up with her, too. Sure, Riley had an idea from all the times she saw her in pictures and videos, but.. damn. She bit her lip as she tried to stop smiling before her cheeks started to . “You look so mature now. People are going to assume you’re my babysitter.” She teased, shaking her head as she moved to let her hands rest on the other’s hips. “I love the dress, though.”
She felt her heart flutter again at Raven’s words, skipping a beat or two as she noticed her begin to lean down. It was insane to think they had gone a year without touching, never even seeing each other without a screen in between. Or maybe it was insane that they were seeing each other now, being with each other now, at long last. Riley shuddered involuntarily at the feeling of Raven’s lips on hers. She had almost forgotten how it felt. She had almost forgotten the electricity that sparked in her veins at the slightest brush of their hands. She had almost forgotten how much she could love a feeling just because of the person eliciting it. She felt herself tilting her chin up into the kiss, one of her hands finding Raven’s hair, the other holding onto the hand Raven had placed on her cheek.
A soft smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as her girlfriend pulled away, a quiet laugh falling from her lips as she nods at Raven’s disclosure. “Yeah, you were being stupid.” Riley speaks, propping herself up by her elbow so she’s closer to the girl above her. “I would never not like you. I love you for whoever you are, and whatever you look like. That’s non-negotiable, because no matter what, you’re still Raven, and I'm still Riley, and I still can't get enough of you.” Riley smiled at Raven's laugh, closing her eyes as she listened. She returned the kiss with a quiet hum, tilting her head to allow Raven access to the rest of her cheek. "I was scared, too. I was scared that, with everything you see on a daily basis now, that I'd be too boring for you. The way Roseboro is now."
homecoming
ravenduluoz:
Being back home … back with Riley, thus far it was everything she could have hoped for. Of course, Rae had to realize that pretty much nothing had been said yet, but the look the other had given her seemed to put everything between them already. No words seemed necessary when she could see how much the other still cared for her - how much she still LOVED her. Raven felt the same way, or truthfully, all that she had felt had been intensified while she had been gone; now she felt free, she allowed all the positive emotions to drown all else out. Hearing the nickname questioned by the other was all that had been needed for her to break into that light run and tackle the other. Frankly, Raven had done her very best at staying strong, but upon that there had been no more fighting. She did not need to fight anymore; and she wanted to show everything that she felt to her girlfriend. There is a bright smile on her lips, laugh coming to escape, echoing around the room. “I don’t think you missed me as much as I missed you.” Rae teased, her head coming down to rest upon Ri’s shoulder; she buried her face in the crook of her neck, never wanting to part from her. Realistically, she was highly aware that she would have to soon enough for their position would become uncomfortable, but she was willing to steal a few more minutes like that. Riley’s warmth seeping into her own. Minutes stolen, and the older girl is coming to wiggle in hold slightly. “I’m going to pull back now, is that okay?” Raven questioned, hoping the other would loosen the hold she had around her. It was for good reason, however, for Rae wanted nothing more than to pull back and kiss the other. That was one of the things that she had missed the most during her year away - she had missed her touch, her lips … everything.
Their position, their closeness, the comfortable silence that had settled over the room, it was something she had needed desperately. In her head, their reunion was nothing but excited chatter, sharing of all that couldn’t be expressed over the phone. But this, it was so much better. The still of the room, the pause of the world had been just what she needed. It was the time she required to grasp the reality of their situation- Raven was here, in her arms, and she wasn’t dreaming a second of it.
Gradually, the world came back and the moment fell apart. She felt Raven begin to shake in her effort to stay up, and the pressure the other’s weight put on her chest finally began to ache. Riley laughed again at the request to pull away, nodding in response. “I guess, if you have to.” She joked, loosening her hold enough for Raven to break out of it completely if she wanted. “Actually, sit up. Just for a second. I want to see you.” She whispered, letting her legs fall limp against the mattress instead of keeping them around Raven.
“I’m so glad you’re back, Rae. I didn’t know I could miss someone that much.” Riley admitted, her voice softer than before. “I spent so much time here, and none of it felt complete without you.”
homecoming
@ravenduluoz
To say Riley was nervous was an understatement. To say that she was terrified and had officially shed any and all newfound confidence that senior year had brought her because her long distance girlfriend was finally coming back to town, would be more accurate. She had resorted to adjusting and readjusting her necklace where it rested on her chest and staring at the door in wait. Raven had changed. Not in the ways that mattered to Riley, but in superficial ways that Riley knew mattered to everyone else. She’d seen pictures on Raven’s Instagram and Snapchat that scared the living hell out of her, because Raven wasn’t the one growing into herself anymore. Riley was. Everything she saw in the mirror wasn’t good enough, and nothing she did felt mature enough for her to be dating Raven. Because her girlfriend had been gone for a year, seeing the world and meeting people whose personalities probably far surpassed Riley’s own in every way. Sure, it was fun to say that she was dating a college girl, but how did that compare to Raven saying she dated someone in high school? Every insecurity she’d ever possessed about their relationship had come crashing down on her as soon as she found out Raven was finally coming home. She’d pushed past her girlfriend’s teasing brothers with an amusing struggle, practically fighting two of them off to get to Raven’s room to wait inside. “And if any of you even so much as touch this door, I will break fingers.” She’d warned, only to be laughed off. She had spent too much time with them over the last year for anyone in the house to take a threat from her seriously. She now sat at the foot of Raven’s untouched bed, hugging her knees to her chest as she waited for her to come home at last.
Raven was ecstatic to return home; sure, Roseboro seemed much too small and dull for her now, but seeing her family and girlfriend again after a year served to numb that sensation of conforming and being tied up. The girl was drowning in excitement and anticipation as she got out of Robin’s car, a slight bounce to her steps as she made her way towards the front door. She was aware that they had arrived slightly earlier that they had planned and announced, twins having been beyond eager to arrive and having decided not to take some stops along the way, which explained why her parents car was not parked upfront. “You got the bags?” Raven questioned, laugh escaping her lips as she did not wait for an answer, instead opening the door and allowing herself inside. Clear hues traveled over the living room, the ombre haired girl deciding that the house had not changed much … she had been the one that had done the changing. Hand moved down, and she pulled at her dress, suddenly thinking that maybe she had grown up a bit too much. Heels clicked on the wooden floor, and she dropped her backpack and jacket on the couch, steps quickening as she made her way towards her room. It was colder that she had expected, and she thought of taking out some pajamas and fuzzy slippers to battle her little black dress and boots. Upon opening the door, eyes landed on Riley … and her heart skipped a beat. The Duluoz girl could not help but grin at the sight of the now blonde, she thought she looked absolutely stunning ( could only hope Riley thought the same of her and her changes; both inside and outside changes for that matter ). “–-–Hey.” And without a second thought she ran to the bed, body crashing into Riley’s and pushing her down under her, “I missed you.”
She didn’t know what she had expected. Despite all the video chats, the calls, the texts, Riley had never realized how much had changed between the two of them. How much Raven had changed herself, really. It had never settled in her that the girl she’d first met was gone, replaced by someone older and different and new. Nothing about the sight of her was familiar.
But the feeling in her chest, the one that made her weak at the knees and stole the air from her lungs, it was all the exact same. She knew then that it didn’t matter how much anything differed from the way it had been, because Raven was still beautiful. They were still beautiful. And nothing could change that.
She studied the older girl frantically where she stood in the doorway, a smile so wide it was painful sweeping across her expression. “Rae?” Was all she could say, hoping the single syllable could be enough to convey everything she needed to tell her. I missed you. I love you. You’re so beautiful. Please, don’t leave again.
Riley hadn’t even allowed herself to look at anything but Raven’s eyes, too stunned by her presence to do anything but admire how bright they had become in her absence. She didn’t have the chance to see the rest of her anyway, because before she knew it she was laying on the bed, arms and legs wrapped around her significant other as she laughed at the unexpected tackle. “I missed you, too.” She echoed, pulling Raven closer with the arms she’d wrapped around the other’s shoulders. “So, so much.”

I swear, the first day back to school, I’ve already heard at least five girls say “new year, new me”. Ahh, the cliches.

@ravenduluoz
Fingers tapping against her leg, teeth biting her lip, and feet swinging in the space below her, Riley’s doing everything she can to hold herself together. After leaving to live in Tennessee for two months, she’s anxious to finally be back. With the warm weather still having been in tact down there, she’s surprisingly tan for the end of December, and there’s a big part of her really hoping for Raven to notice. When the name re-enters her mind, Riles looks back up to the front door. When one of her brothers answered, Riley asked him to go get her friend and let her know someone is here for her.
They never exactly severed contact upon Ri’s disappearance, because somehow they grew to mean more to each other than that. Everyday it was texting and late calls and an occasional Skype conversation. But none of that, none, will ever compare to the real thing. Really being there with the girl that she has become so fond of. The door finally opens, and a smile forms on her lips that’s almost child-like when Raven steps out of the door and onto the porch. Her hand lifts, a damask rose rolling between her fingers.

“I’m everything a stereotypical Scorpio is supposed to be.” -Raven Duloz , 17, Senior
With claustrophobia, anxiety, anger issues, and depression, already well under her belt at just the age of seventeen, Raven finds that she is every bit of how a Scorpio is described and made out to be. People look at the ‘descriptions’ and ‘common traits’ of Scorpios, and see that they are made out to be manipulative, stubborn, negative, and resentful people. While some would be bothered by how they are described, or others would entirely disagree because of the Scorpios they know and that are quite different, Raven finds that everything fits, and she can identify with it one-hundred percent on most days. At the end of the day, even if she identifies and feels understood—– she can’t help but be bothered by it. Scorpios, most of the time, are portrayed in such a negative light that it does call for some self-hatred, especially when she sees how some of the other signs are made out to be, and hers is one of the worst. After all, it was just a coincidence that she was born in November, two months before she was do, and just happened to be everything a Scorpio is portrayed to be. None of this would bother her, not one bit, if it wasn’t for the fact that her mother is obsessed and entirely dedicated to everything that has to do with astrology. She has to live with her mother calling her out of her room just to show her a post she saw on Tumblr or on another website. Raven has to live with her mother telling her she couldn’t have been born at a better time, because there was a post that said Scorpios “look like they’re ready to murder everyone”, and they’re in the “has a list of people they would murder squad”, and that is “just so her”. Raven doesn’t think it’s her fault that she has so many things to deal with, and that most of the time, she indeed wants to snap at everyone for being the way they are, or saying things that are triggering to her. It’s also not her fault that most of the time she’s into “dark things”, and has a tolerance and like for things and films that others find strange and gruesome. It’s not something she chose to be, she didn’t chose to be as cold, tough, and detached, on most days, as Scorpios are made out to be. And it only makes it worse when she’s started to only identify with the most negative descriptions, and traits, she sees on those sign posts. She’s very emotional, protective, and loyal—– there’s many depths to her, but with everything that she sees, and everything her mother shows her, she’s so eager to just fit in somewhere, and bathe in the feeling of acceptance and understanding. So as lovable and friendly as she can be, on most days, with her traits and disorders, she’s just begun to go with the flow ——- if Scorpios are meant to be cynical, unemotional, and a force to be reckoned with, then so be it. In the long run, as hard as it makes it for her to make actual friends and have a circle of acquaintances, it does seem to help that she’s a bit of a loner; that way, there’s less people to bring out the ugly side of her, and she can just live in peace…even if that means being in an isolation that makes everything worse for her.

Hello my loves,
While I’m sure this doesn’t catch any of you by surprise, it’s time we officially announce – Stonegate is closing. In the next 24 hours we will be replacing the theme with one that removes access to our posts and pages.
We welcome you to continue playing your characters, either here on the dash or taking them elsewhere with you. We’ll probably check in from time to time just to say hi. If you plan to take a canon somewhere else, we just ask that you please rewrite their bio in your own words and link to the main as credit for the original idea.
Feel free to spend the next 24 hours talking to each other IC and OOC, making sure you’ve reblogged your characters’ bio onto your blog, and saving any other memorabilia you want from the main (like Prom King graphics, etc.).
In case you were wondering, nothing went wrong, it was nothing any of you did, and it most certainly is not because we stopped loving the group or all of you. The short version: Trace and I are both too busy to dedicate the time and energy to be the admins that Stonegate deserves, so that you can have events and activities and a thriving dash full of wonderful roleplayers. We don’t want to be the admins who just scrape by, because you deserve more than that. We used to give you more than that, and we want you all to find a home where you have that.
Both my and Trace’s long versions are below the read more. Before you jump down, I want to reiterate one more time just how much we love all of you, what a pleasure it has been to be your admins, and how glad we are to have shared this group with all of you. We would not have had a group without you, and we thank you for bringing so much to our small little town hidden in the middle of tumblr.
We wish you all the best of luck for the future, from the bottom of our hearts. And we know, we’ll see you again.
Until next time and love always, Sara & Trace

“Smile, nod, agree, and then do whatever the fuck you were gonna do anyway.” -Jasper Brice, 17, Senior
He’s that guy sitting at the back table in the cafeteria. No, not the one with a pile of unfinished books, and glasses with tape wrapped around the center. No, he’s the one with the unlit cigarette hanging from his lips, eyes cloaked by black sunglasses, fingers dancing in thumb and middle rings, and body clad in the clothes he’d worn to bed the night prior. On the outside, Jasper Brice, is your typical mysterious looking bad boy. The James Dean of Roseboro. There’s just something dangerous and intriguing about a boy who says absolutely nothing as he stares at you blankly through the tinted lenses of his ray bans. In fact, Jasper Brice was practically a ghost boy. Walking through life leaving people with plenty of questions about the boy who had the ability to have not a care in the world. That is, if it weren’t for his video blog.
Yes, Jasper Brice was a dark, quirky, yet mysterious, mute, when he wasn’t sitting in front of the upload button of his blog. jasperafterdark.com, the late night feed that everyone tuned into when they were up at 3 in the morning and had nothing else to do but listen to a teenage boy rant about all the shitty things in life. Jasper hadn’t meant for people to find his blog. His foster parents constantly smashing plates and having screaming matches being his nightly entertainment, he’d seen it as an outlet. An online diary, that maybe somebody would come across before they lost interest and kept on browsing. He had never expected to suddenly come home one day to see his blog had over 4,000 views, all of which were from half of the Roseboro population. Suddenly, Jasper was no longer just the mysterious guy at the back of the cafeteria. Jasper was “Jasper After Dark!” and everyone knew about him and his inner thoughts.
Jasper didn’t let the sudden awareness of his existence and presence of a human soul effect his life. He remained anti-social when surrounded by his supportive peers, and town folk. But Jasper After Dark adjusted accordingly. His usual opening of “It’s currently 3:00am, and i’m talking to no one,” turning into a drag of his cigarette, rub of his eyes and a raspy “Hello Roseboro, it’s currently 3am, you know the drill. This is Jasper After Dark.” The mystery still remained within Jasper. Most people wondered if they were even watching the same guy. For some, trying to crack the code of Jasper Brice, was something like an obsession. Girls stared at him in class, conflicted with whether or not they liked the Jasper in school who wore leather and shades, or the Jasper after Dark who wore black t-shirts and no shades. Boys, wondered if they’d rather become bros with the guy who flicked open switch blades in class, or the guy who ranted about why high-school was an idea invented by the supply companies. Jasper Brice was a walking rubix cube, and he felt things were better that way.

“I’m not trailer trash.” -Margaret Jane “M.J.” Abrams, 16, Sophomore
A recent transplant from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Margaret is finding Roseboro to be pretty easy to settle into. The town isn’t much bigger than her previous home, there’s a fairly good art supply store on Main Street, and they know what a half and half is without her having to explain. The town would be even easier to settle into if her classmates weren’t fixated on where she lived. See, M.J.’s family lives in a modular home community or, as her classmates refer to it, the trailer park. Her home isn’t a trailer though, it’s a comfortable and stationary three-bedroom home akin to a rancher. Try detailing the differences to the idiots at lunch though, and you’ll understand Margaret’s frustration.
It has been said that she always looks annoyed or bored with the world, but resting bitchface is only one of her problems. She’s knows a little about a lot, and her humor is as dry as her wit is sharp, but prioritizing has never been a strong suit of hers (or, well, one could say subscribing to the standard priorities of society never has been). She can’t enter the art show without at least a B- in English (her worst subject), and it’s hard to find time to read whatever boring book she’s been assigned when her illustration muse is finally back to where it was before the move.
It’s a struggle, but if there’s anything M.J. fully understands, it’s how to take an idea and transform it into something beautiful. But art takes time and time means patience, which is something her classmates are causing her to run out of. With notebooks full of sketches and observations of the world around her, all M.J. wants is to focus on her art, make it into the school art show, finish unpacking her room, and have everyone stop calling her trailer trash, but that doesn’t seem to be on the horizon.

“I have no idea who I am.” -Jay Daniels, 18, Senior
Captain of the football and lacrosse team, stage manager for school productions, and A&E co-editor on the The Wolfpack, Jay Daniels is as well-rounded as you can get. There’s nothing he hasn’t had dabbled in, and it’s almost infuriating how quickly he picks up on everything he lays a finger on. Like that time he decided to join the Debate team on a whim and ended up ranking higher than one of the senior debaters in the first (and only) competition he competed in. Sure, he stayed hardly slept for three days while writing his case, but still. And that time he decided to learn the guitar and was strumming along to Stairway to Heaven by the end of the week. Jay’s popular and on the tip top of the social ladder. He can be a bit intimidating at first, but spend five minutes with him and just try not to like him. It’s impossible. He gets along with everyone — it doesn’t matter if you’re a social butterfly or a social reject (as long as you’re not a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, at least).
How does he do it? Jay’s got a knack for figuring out what type of person he’s talking to, and he’s able to change his personality to match them. To the quieter, literary kids, he’s insightful and studious, and he can keep up a conversation about plot lines and analysis like no other. To the loud partygoers, he can chug a keg as well as the best of them. The only thing is, he’s changed and altered his personality so often that he has no idea who he actually is. Is he the obnoxious, almost stereotypical teenage boy from last Friday’s party? Or is he the good humored teacher’s pet he becomes in first period Calculus? Does he really like musicals, or is that just him trying to fit in with the theatre kids? Jay’s got absolutely no idea, and it’s begun worrying him more and more. Especially now that he’s a senior, cause how is he supposed to decide what he’s going to do for the rest of his life when he hardly knows who he is?

“I’m stuck here forever.” -Riley Sanders, 16, Sophomore
Riley’s always been well taken care of. Like, very well taken care of. Her father was the head of a huge company in Kentucky (though she lived in Clarksville), called Sanders and Co. Which managed finances of many smaller businesses across the country. Unfortunately, one of the people handling the budgets and finances was actually stealing money from multiple accounts. Now her parents have shipped her off to this place to stay with her uncle and his family, in the name of a ‘drama free’ life while they handle legal formalities. It’s been two and a half years.
The more time she spends in Roseboro, the less she can see herself going back to Tennessee. In fact, the idea hardly ever comes up now. Riley is a girl who can be totally different from you and yet understand anything you say. She’s someone who finds a friend in a building full of enemies. So it was easy for her to adapt to the sudden change in life, just.. Not the new lifestyle. She’s mostly adjusted to the small things like living with other teens, riding the bus, and the absolute lack of spontaneous shopping trips. But even now, she goes a little crazy when someone kicks her seat, or she remembers that top in that one boutique that she used to afford. But she tries not to complain too much, if she can help it. But everyone has a breaking point. How long can you stay happy about never seeing your parents, worrying over leaving everyone close to you behind, and counting seconds until you get back to your old life? Soon enough she’s going to cave in on considering ever seeing her home again. Or worry herself insane about leaving everyone behind now that she’s finally rooted down
