Why shouldn't Regina get credit for releasing the fairies? That was a team effort & yes, Regina was a part of that team. Hook & Belle figured out what needed to be done, & it wasn't exactly an easy task (wielding as much dark power as the dagger can't be easy) but Regina did it anyway. As for Hook "sacrificing" himself in the AU for strangers - Regina did the same thing. Henry was a stranger to her. And a child. She wasn't going to just stand by and watch him get killed. That makes her a brat?
It’s not so much that Regina doesn’t deserve credit for releasing the fairies. It’s that she doesn’t deserve more credit than Belle and Hook. She shouldn’t have been made out to be the sole hero of that moment. Belle and Hook never revived a moment of acknowledgement for the work they did. They were the ones who put months of effort into this and Regina was the only one who received credit. It was a team effort but apparently Regina is the only member of that team who mattered.
The same goes for the AU. “As for Hook "sacrificing" himself in the AU for strangers - Regina did the same thing“ Exactly, they did the same thing. So why is Regina the only one who is a hero? She was no more brave in the finale than anyone else. There were a lot of heroes in the AU and Regina was ONE of them. I don’t think that everything Regina does is wrong. I may find her to be a triggering character for me overall, but she does do good things and should receive credit for these things, but I feel that sometimes she receives too much credit both in cannon and from the fandom for doing things are no more heroic than what the other characters do all the time and receive no credit for. This happens a lot but these are good examples.
