Lorde for Document Journal (May 2025)
What I would do to go back to 2017 when Lorde first released Melodrama…
Asuka vs Becky Lynch at the 2019 Royal Rumble >>>
Posting my thoughts on showgirl here because I don’t feel like doing it in twitter
Taylor is happily engaged and doesn’t need or have to write about heartbreak anymore. She’s also wildly successful to where she doesn’t need to switch genres anymore cause why risk it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
But because of those 2 things aren’t in play anymore (the 2 things lyrically she could always go back to) the album was the way it was. I never listen to Taylor for vocals cause that’s not her suit or production cause that’s not her strong suit, her bread and butter is lyrics. And because she’s engaged and a billionaire, the things she used to write about doesn’t apply to her anymore.
And with that, her song writing this album gave off “out of touch billionaire white person who doesn’t have anyone to keep her in check and is surrounded by yes men” like how is any one of her fans, or any one at all, supposed to relate with anything she talked about on the album? Just no one in her team helping her keep up the standard of excellence she set for herself through her career and instead just a team of people focusing on profits
- And that’s not even touching on how half the songs were samples or rip offs of other songs that she gave no credit to which is wild following the whole Olivia Rodrigo situation
- the god awful rollout with AI in the promo video and the album announcement happening on a football podcast
- How it sounded very commercial and MAGA coded, “did I girlboss too close to the sun” is a god awful lyric by someone who made “The Man” and “I like my friends cancelled” by someone who, because they’re engaged to a NFL Player, have friend who are either very much Trump Supporters and/or wives and girlfriends of trump supporters (especially when those people live in fucking Missouri, the Midwest)
- how she’s beefing with Charli XCX for some god forsaken reason or how despite how possible it is for a white woman from the south to grow up and break out of their evangelical roots and denounced the racist culture of the south (I.E Hayley Williams) she just refused to do it thought out her career despite posting as a democratic, Feminist, communist.
The best way I can sum it up is like this, there’s a rapper named Chance the rapper who made a Mixtape called acid rap in 2013 and it was a project inspired by drugs and it was one of the most influential albums of the decade Following that he stopped doing drugs and got married and had kids and we loved that for him. But in 2019 he made a album called the big day and it was so bad people started memeing his wife and was joking that he should be doing acid again so his music would be good and that went on from 2019 to August where he made Starline and it was well received.
How this relate to Taylor is much like Chance being trolled to go back to acid or something for the sake of his music, she needs to go through some great break for the sake of hers.
She shouldn’t release another album unless it’s 5 years from now when she’s 40 and has life experience, she and Travis breaks up, or unless she’s doing another genre of music cause right now she reached her ceiling with her pop thing in this stage of her life and it’s ain’t pretty
This TakeOver should be preserved by the Library of Congress as being culturally significant for being a fucking amazing wrestling show.
In hindsight, I would be mad too if my best friend left me high and dry to dab on TV

how could anyone hate future by paramore. like. i'm writing the future, i'm writing it out, loud. we don't talk about the past, we don't talk about the past, now. so, I'm writing the future, i'm leaving a key here. something won't always be missing, you won't always feel emptier. just think of the future, and think of your dreams. you'll get away from here. you'll get away eventually. so, just think of the future, think of a new life. don't get lost in the memories, keep your eyes on a new prize.
