I really felt the same way. the game itself was very frustrating with all its different forms and animation which made hard to read the story entirely. I felt like I didn't understand the story at all because I was mostly concentrating on not exploding and coming up with techniques to finish the level I was on.

Evidence of Everything Exploding

evidence of everything exploding I thought was fun way to basically learn something new. Throughout the game my concentration was not towards the story itself but the main fact of not exploding. even though the game itself is very interesting and in my perspective very completive they were a lot of flaws to it. one of the flaws that in the game is that as a player you fin the game confusing because on the screen their a lot of things going on at once. when I started to play on level one I was basically lost in all the different animation(distraction) that was on the screen. in a way it makes it more difficult to read the story. The videos I thought was pointless to the story it was too much..

understanding muse by using comics

the reading begins by narrowing down the definition of a comic into a distinguished piece of work. a comic is said to be " juxtaposed pictorial and other images in a deliberated sequence" by that definition we can see that comics are merely derivative of past forms of sequential art that sketch throughout history. development of comics is an ongoing unfolding process the way in which comic ideas can be conveyed in bondless at limited to certain mediums or materials.

it can be said of cartoons, that stripping down the form to simpler more abstract one direct attention to greater purpose and essential details

the author project that our fascination with cartoons is based on the nation that we identify ourselves within these rough sketched faces cartoon are vacuums , drawing in our imagination, such as may other objects w invest our imagination and identity into. the author here would say these extensions of us. the power objectification can render an idea with a sense of "otherness" ambiguity, or complexity.

Review on Maus Page 158-159 my thoughts on it.

After reading the last couple chapters of Maus I found the book mind blowing. I'm some of the chapters of each page I found my self screaming no and I also found myself having moments of disbelieve.

In the last chapter on the last two pages (158-159) I found myself calling art a especially when he stated " God damn you! you- you murder how the hell could you do such a thing!!... murderer." I felt like art shouldn't be calling his father a murderer because he burnt her journal's that she had. when in fact in the chapter where is dad pick up one of Art's comics which is called prisoner in the hell planet you can clearly see that art himself put his mom into even deeper state of depression( which caused her suicide) because of the lack of communication between the two of them and the family as a whole. In a way I felt like he was being hypocritical.

I think that your idea of why speigelman wrote Muse as a graphic novel was spot on. I felt like we had the same idea of why he made the Jew's and Nazi's the character he did. (I think its some kind of sick game Art's playing with is drawings). I also thought the drawings sums up what the author is saying on each page. Maybe art choose this book as a graphic novel because he's familiar with that format but it could be because he wanted to have as little as much details within it; and with a graphic novel you don't need as much details.

Response to Maus....

The first couple chapters of the book muse I thought it was interesting, with every page I wanted to read more and more.The creative aspect of it I thought pulled its audience in .Throughout the book, for the most part I felt like I was apart of the storytelling aspects of it,because the author would go between story’s of the past and present.

Spiegelman used the form of a graphic novel because it basically gets straight to the point than having to go into massive details. Writing in an graphic novel format help the readers to visually understand what he’s talking about. Which you can see through the images he used on each page. I thought the images was interesting, especially the images that he used for each character within the book. For example, when you start to read the book you know right away hows an Nazi and who's a Jew, because the author give every single person an distinguished anima. For an Nazi they were cats and for an jew they were rats. This to me felt like a play on cat and mouse

For this review on Bervins Net by Howard I felt like we had the same opinion on most of the review and arguments that Howard discussed. One of them was the content of Bervins poem, I taught the content was a little different which brings the authors personality to the book which I taught was very simple. Keeping the words of the original poem in the back ground with an almost faded look to it and the having the words she wants readers to focus more on highlighted and very bold.

I also thought that Howard was being to hard on Bervin's book. In my opinion I thought that Howard was scared of Bervin's interpretation of Shakespeare's sonnets, in a crazy way I thought he was also scared of her form and content of the book because it was something new for him in a way, or he felt threatened by the book because other authors have done the something Bervin did to Shakespeare's sonnet.

Response to Howard's "roses no such roses": Jen Bervin's Nets and the Sonnet Tradition from Shakespeare to the Postmoderns

From reading howards review on nets by Bervin I can tell that some of his points were valid and some wasn’t. To be honest at some parts of his review I felt like he was giving Bervin a hard time I felt like he was calling her book a joke especially when it came to the form and content of the book. You can see this when howard stated that “Bervin’s Nets could thus be rightly placed within the context of what Douglas Lanier theorizes as ‘Shakespop’ parody”. At first I thought it was just Bevin's opinion on what she thought Shakespeare sonnets was about by emphasizing words she thought would connect to the Shakespeare s sonnet, but from father reading of the review I can understand why they are so much controversy on whether the book nets is and I quote “ A prose poem” because in some way having all those highlighted words and the meaning of what Bervin's thought of the poem was an overlook the vision of the original author ( which in this case is Shakespeare). Even after reading Howard's review of Bervins book I still felt as though she wasn’t giving as much appraise that she need because her technique of giving her own opinion of Shakespeare's work was different than other writer like Bronk who did the something or it could of have something a little more exhilarating ,or in the words of Howard “ could have been extended into an even more exhilarating, multi-faceted project” in a way I felt like Bervins work was being judged the same way Emily Dickinson work was.

Jen Bervin (Sonnet 127)

In sonnet 127 the writer I feel was in a sad and depressed state of mind. It seems as almost someone died or death kept happening around that person or a person they know. He talked about how black was not counted fair or counted a beautiful, it was almost like the author was saying death is something beautiful, when you think of it in a different perspective, but as you read on to me at one point the poem itself wasn't surrounded by death or sadness its was just the writer describing the beauty of someone in a dark way. “Stand'ring creation with a false esteem: yet so they mourn becoming of their woe. That every tongue say beauty should look so." This quote I felt was the author describing a person in a dark way..

To me this sonnet was similar to the sonnet that we did in class because in Shakespeare's sonnet he describe someone's beauty as a everlasting beauty but went on to saying that the kind of beauty he just described will never happen to that person. In both sonnets they were things that was kind of similar.

Within in the poem “Beauty borrowed no name no bower so our becoming says” was the words Bervin highlighted. I thought that those words goes well with the poem in an way I feel like it was like the thesis of the poem

Dickinson's Aesthetics and Fascicle

In the second section of Heginbotham's research into Emily Dickinson's poem. The research focused on the two of Dickinson's poem, "They shut me up in prose" and "This was poet" in Dickinson's fascicle. With those two poem the research was mostly tying to configure what Dickinson was trying to say and why she would chose the words she used within it.In the rest of the reading you can come across some strong arguments and great points that different scholars have about Dickinson's poem. some of those scholars points were reasonable and some wasn't, some as went as far as to criticize the way Emily organized her fascicle when they should be focused on Dickinson's grammar usage.

Eleanor Elson Heginbotham's introduction to the reading of Emily Dickinson's contextually. In the introduction it mainly focused on the fascicles on Dickinson's poems by investigating her writings.The organization of the way Dickinson's set up her poems with-in the book was was interesting. Digging deeper into Dickinson's thoughts Heginbotham's found that Dickinson's poems wasn't just poems it was intentional artistry with her canny, intriguing, obsession with illness, and the phrases she uses to compile with-in her book. Like the use of rewording the same poem in multiple fascicles.

They shut me up in prose

In the poem , Emily Dickinson is giving readers a insight into her world by sharing some of her experience as a child and as an adult. In the first stanza of the poem Dickinson explained how she was a well liked child by her family member's but at the same time punished by them. Punishments like being locked in a closet, which was something she feared most(the thought and feeling of being trapped in an confined space). At the end of the stanza Dickinson went on to comparing herself as a caged bird who's freedom was taken away, which was interesting because a bird can't be caged and she's simply saying she cant be caged because she's a free spirited kind of person who doesn't care what society or anyone have to say about her. Even the way the poem is written shows Dickinson's careless and fearless thoughts of what people think by the random use of her capitalization of words, word choice, and the multiply dash she as in her poem. In the end everything in Emily Dickinson's poem is a mask of her true self.
