▪ Lies by Michael Grant review! ▪
“You don’t understand, Edilio,” Sam said so softly, he doubted Edilio could hear him over the roar and crackle of the fire raging all around them. “You can’t do anything else with people like this. You have to kill them all." • Review: The third installment of the Gone series, Lies, is the stepping stone for the next three books in the series. While all the pieces on the chess board were being placed, the story continued to transform into multiple nightmares that I still think of today ⚰️ Lies was a great read, one that had me gasping in *actual* horror, and it had me on the edge of my seat. While the first two books of the Gone series are much the same in the ‘thriller’ scale, Lies created a scale of its own, with no mercy. Feelings of dread, fear, shock, and anger circled within me, I was wholly invested in the story Michael Grant was telling. The characters’ emotions seeped out of the pages, towards me, and I cannot explain in words how well the author expressed their feelings and trauma. I felt like the characters had more depth in this book, and the emotional trauma that they had experienced was finally developed and involved in the story more 😍 Not only were the character developments great, but the ending had me spiralling down into a tunnel of absolute shock and horror 😭 And awe. Many emotions were built into the ending, and I can’t explain what I was feeling when I read the last line of the book. I was… mesmerized, of how the author pulled it off, and how the sensations of the battlefield fell over me. It was clear that the author was setting up for the rest of the series, which was slightly annoying at times, but the plot never disappointed me. It’s difficult to explain in words how well the plot was timed, and explained. Purely incredible to be fully honest! 🦋 There’s a lot more I want to say, but then this review will be too long and boring! 😂 I would recommend this to those who love apocalyptic reads, Sci-Fi, drama, romance, horror, and thrillers! My rating: 4.5/5 ✨ TW: cannibalism, eating disorder, death, extreme violence/cruelty • QOTD: what series do you want to read this year? 👀 • • •
