The losers x The party
Bill Denbrough as Mike Wheeler: Most obvious comparison ever, they are literally the same character just in different fonts. Both are the leaders of their respective group, both come from a neglectful family, both are authors, both are clearly in love with their best friend but unable to express their feelings, both are depressed and sometimes can be VERY annoying. And this are just a few similarities.
Eddie Kaspbrak as Will Byers: I was wrong, they are the true twins. Both are seen as the weakest in their group that consistently treaded like they need to be protected (the both save their groups numbers times), both have daddy issues, both have a “crush” on their best friend who they see as perfect, both are heavily bullied because believed to be queers and EASILY went through the worst traumas in the entire group. I could go on for the entire day so it’s best if I stop for now, lol.
Richie Tozier as Dustin Henderson: I don’t see them getting compared as often I would like. They are soooo similar: both are ridiculed for their looks, both are easier the funniest members of their respective groups, both have problems with their teeth, both can be very childish, both suffer very much for their loneliness.
Or
Ben Hanscom as Dustin Henderson: Even if they are nowhere as similar as with Richie, a some factors that are also in common like: both are ridiculed for their looks and and both suffer very much for their loneliness.
Stanley Uris as Lucas Sinclair: They both represent the voices of reason in their respective groups, most of the times just because they act simply more mature than others, they also are part of minorities and often get bullied just because of that. They also are the only ones that are really do go against their leaders when they come up with ideas that really don’t make sense.
Or
Mike Hanlon as Lucas Sinclair: All the arguments I’ve already stated for Stan can work just as fine for Mike (they have a very similar role in the book) so I’ve no much to add. Maybe the fact that they both played a sport in high school?
Beverly Marsh as Max Mayfield: I had an hard time deciding between El and Max, but in the end Max fits her just better. Both have a troubling home life, both are seen as cool by the boys in their groups, both can be very sassy and have a very strong spirit. And lowkey I don’t really mind imagining Bev and Stan as a couple… 10 times better than Billverly anyway
