thank u!! I hope so soon... I’ve been really busy lately and also just feeling weird about tumblr in general. I liked the feedback and the conversation of it a lot, and just sort of how personal it is. But a lot of the people I followed don’t post a lot anymore, and I always have to read so many stupid takes on here :/ I’ve kind of dropped off social media in general because things are just so intense in the world lately that being online has just been stressing me out. But I do miss how tumblr felt like a community for me for a long time, and I don’t really have anything like that anymore, and so I would like to come back eventually. I hope there’s a tumblr revival LOL

In 1988, Dread Scott created the indelible installation What is the Proper Way to Display a U.S. Flag?, sparking a national conversation on compulsory patriotism and freedom of speech. The installation was comprised of a photomontage of flag-draped soldier coffins and South Korean students burning U.S. flags; blank books on a shelf with ink pens; and an American flag on the ground in front. Visitors were encouraged to respond to the question, posed by a text above: “What is the Proper Way to Display a U.S. Flag?” To write their answers in the book, they had to stand on the flag, thus disrespecting it by the standards of many Americans. The work sparked outrage from conservative politicians around the country; in response, Scott staged a flag burning on the steps of the capitol in Washington, leading to a landmark Supreme Court case that ended up protecting the rights to “flag desecration” under the first amendment. It’s obvious why I’m thinking about this work today. In fact I’ve been thinking about it since Colin Kaepernick’s first protest of the national anthem. And tomorrow I will continue to think about the power of these simple, profound gestures to cut to the heart of American nationalism, a toxic psychosis that allows half our country to hide their racism and xenophobia under the cozy umbrella of love of country.

International Men’s day got like twice the amount of interest on International Women’s Day than on the actual International Men’s Day last year.

In which men are more interested in talking over women’s moment than actually having a meaningful one of their own.

This is evil and stupid, but the notes are even worse. People are complaining because “International Men’s Day doesn’t get any corporate sponsorship like International Women’s Day does” 😂😂😂😂 Wow women are such a privileged group... we get the LUXURY of corporations profiting off our insecurities and exploiting feminism for a profit while pretending they actually care about us 😂 who me? I don’t need feminism, I was actually just sold this tube of eyeliner that says “empowerment” on the packaging, so centuries of violent misogyny now cease to exist.

Hey HB! How's your darling girl Matilda doing?

hi!!! Matilda, my sweet angel, is doing AMAZING as always! She went on a diet and lost a lot of weight recently, which is good because she was kind of unhealthy. I am happy to report that she is still pleasantly round and squishy though. She is the #1 snuggle queen of this world. She is always in my lap if I’m sitting down - including right now. Attached are photos of her right at this moment for reference: 

it is so cool that we’ve been together for years now and she is my partner in crime and my best friend. She gives me so much joy in this life. I think she is a bit jealous of my girlfriend but it is okay, and we’re all going to move in together in august so that I don’t have to divide my time between the 2 women in my life.
