86% aged 25-34 own them and use them frequently.
Not all millennials are using their phones just to post a snapchat geotag. Some are actually conducting business through their social media platforms. However, this picture is a pretty accurate depiction.

After getting tired of taking the bus to school everyday, Cory told his mother that they needed a car. He told her that he’d start selling hot cocoa and lemonade around the neighborhood in hopes that would generate some money. After awhile he realized they needed something extra to add to their menu so they turned to none other than....the internet. There they learned how to bake and also began to make the recipes their own by removing certain ingredients and making everything all natural.Â

These two 23 year old college roommates developed an app that can have snacks delivered to your home within 10 minutes or less. They developed this app because none of the stores or restaurants had what they wanted when it came to speed and price. When they launched the app goPuff, their first customer actually lived right next door to 711. When asked why he chose to use the app instead of going outside and into the store that's literally to his left, the customer stated, “Why go to the store when I can just use an app to get what I want?”Â
I honestly was so intrigued by this because this really shows you can make a business out of anything as long as you have the determination. Out of all of the mom and pop shops, bodegas and convenience stores in the world, who would have thought people would be buying snacks off of an app. And in all honesty I’m not sure why I thought this way...I am an amazon addict myself. Kudos to these two millennial's.
Top tip that these millennial business owners share?
Work on your customer service and communication skills!!! You have to be able to explain your business or skill to a potential buyer or customer well enough to establish an open dialogue. Find out what they are looking for. Find out what they like/dislike. Most importantly...find out how they found YOU.
“Social media marketers are often most successful when they are exceptional content creators.” If this class didn’t teach me anything else, it taught me how to grab and generate content so that a particular group can see it and pass the knowledge on and on and on. Being able to customize content makes you look like you know what you’re talking about. All else fails you can curate third party content and make it your own.

A millennial by the name of Brandon Boynton used his technology skills to create an upgraded version of our old school bully box. Brandon, who contemplated suicide himself at the age of 14 due to bullying decided enough was enough and presented the idea to his parents. Schools now pay $500 per year to use this app and its now available outside of the United States!
This millennial here is the youth commissioner of Long Beach, California. He also owns his own clothing brand (with an online store and now a brick and mortar location) and he now has his own nonprofit organization where he encourages kids and teens to excel in academics, sports, business and character development.

I took away an interesting piece from this post. One of the points that was made in order to build a brand for yourself was to create something based on what someone else was successful doing. Now, initially I was saying to myself why in the world would you want to spend time doing something someone else has done. Reading further, I realized that it kind of makes sense. If someone else was successful within their project, there is no possible way that you’d fail doing something within the same realm (but better than them). Tell me what you think about this notion.
