Today was a great day!! Today, I volunteered for a charity called Hearts and Hammers. We had over 100 people show up to help others in need. All kinds of people, from contractors and their crew and families to people like me, volunteered to repair homes and do yard work and build ramps and whatever else needed to be done to help those who couldn't do these things themselves due to physical limitations or lack of money. I saw all people of all ages there. One girl i spoke with was 8 years old and there were several people in their 70s there, too!! Hardware stores and lumber companies and grocery stores and all kinds of places donated material and money to make this happen!! I was in the kitchen, of course, and I fed everyone 3 meals, throughout the day!! We all had so much fun doing this and we helped 18 people get their homes in shape. Neighbors helping neighbors... that's what it's all about. We all need to do this in our communities and nationwide!! This is the America I grew up in and remember, and this is the America I want to take back and live in again!!! Together, we are stronger, and if we all pitch in and do what we can for each other, we can all live a great life!! It doesn't matter who you are. I saw all kinds of people of all ages helping the 18 families live a better life!! I saw all kinds of stores help these 18 families live a better life. It felt great to be a part of this wonderful event. It made me proud to be an American, for the first time in a long time. It showed me that the things I loved most about my country are still here. We need to remember these things and work together to make the American dream a great thing again and not a nightmare like it is now. I'm getting all misty eyed so I'm gonna stop before I start singing the national anthem. That would annoy Petey to no end because I'm a very bad singer... it suffices to say that if we all work together, we can do great things. Today, in a kitchen, in a church, I helped to make a positive impact on my community. I feel great and so proud of what we all came together and accomplished!! It's a great day, indeed. This is what is all about and we need to start acting on this and come from a place of love and healing to make this country and the world a great place for everyone!!!
Look at all the people who came to help their neighbors live a better life!! What a great way to spend a Saturday!! And look at all those pickup trucks!! I love all these people for what they did today!! I'm so happy and proud to have been a part of it!!!
