Over the past weekend, the husband and i had our first ever staycation together to celebrate our 2nd anniversary.

Don’t die.

There was a time in my life when I was suffering all alone.

Or so it seems.

It was the darkest moment of my life.

Everything I thought I knew was a lie. I was this close to losing everything.

I almost lost all hope.

•

Then I realized, the people dearest to me were also suffering alone. They were the ones who were suffering all alone.

If I continued to isolate myself, I would’ve lost them forever.

•

He called me, Jesus Christ did.

•

“You’ll never be alone,” He said.

And I’ve held on to that

and all of His promises ever since.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

Who cares who is the fairest of them all?

People who gossip with you will gossip about you: What they say about you actually tells more about themselves than about you.

On the other hand, what you tell yourself says a lot about how broken you are. And it gets worse – the more you try to boost your image through “positive self-talk”, the more your brokenness is revealed.

For others, they go by putting other people down. But for you, you try so much to not hurt other people that you end up hurting yourself.

There is a better way.

Look again.

•

You may not be the fairest of them all,

but God doesn’t expect you to be perfect.

He only expects you to be honest with your brokenness … and trust Jesus in doing the rest.

Who cares what other broken people think about you?

“Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.”

We’re most like our Creator when we’re creating.

Can you believe that you were God’s idea? It’s hard to believe this at first, because for so long you’ve hated yourself for your flaws, your quirks, your imperfections.

But He’s way smarter than you. He’s more magnificent than everything good in this world combined into one big chunk of awesomeness.

Now here’s the catch: You are part of that chunk. You were made for awesomeness.

Our minds are too small to fully understand His will. But in the midst of our self-doubt, two things we know for sure:

1. He wills that you exist, and

2. You’re meant to be like Jesus.

So when in doubt, create. Not for your own sake, but for the joy it brings to the world.

Band-aids don’t fix bullet holes

With the things that I’ve been through recently, I realized one thing: That it’s all His story.

Most of my life, I’ve grown too comfortable with the band-aid that’s been covering my pains.

But in order to fully heal, you gotta take it off at some point.

It felt extremely painful. But somehow, I know He is behind all this.

He is behind everything.

History is His story.

Your story isn’t over yet.

To encourage myself and others who are drifting through life and its endless difficulties,
