When editing the portraits I made of my father last weekend, I unconsciously selected the one that has the most in common with this self-portriat he did in the Army nearly 50 years ago, which has always been my favorite photograph of him. A happy accident.

Two and a half years after its original publication, I am finally making the book I created for The Spotless Mirror available for purchase. I hesitated for so long because it’s more expensive than I would like it to be, but it’s silly to keep it to myself forever.

Houses of the Holy (2013-????) I've been thinking about abandoned projects. A year ago, while working on a project about my family, I started photographing all of the churches in Lee County, South Carolina, where my father was born. There are 19,220 people in Lee County, and about 99 houses of worship. That's approximately 1 for every 194 people. I only made it to 20-something of them. I don't know if I'll ever pick it up again, but if I do I hope to with a title that is not a Led Zeppelin reference.
