Metroid by Teke
WHAT such a gorgeous animation!! Very detailed and look at the smoky boi! ❤️
just found this sketch i did back when Metroid Dread was first revealed, prompted by someone's comment along the lines of "why is EMMI so angry? i think she and Samus could put aside their differences and make a relationship work if they really tried"
anyways happy pride month, let's go dreadsbians
yes mr of the torch please do illuminate the way to everyone's satisfaction
(i have so many favorite panels in WHA and i absolutely can't resist redrawing them in my style oTZ this one is from chapter 39!)
mucked around with a Qifrey redraw only to realize that it kind of matched the one i'd done of Oru a couple days ago in its posing 🤭 into the same post it goes!

I think about the "robot ghost story" from Portal 2 probably more than I should but it's such a weirdly brilliant piece of writing imo.
Early on, Wheatley tells a story about a janitor who went mad and "chopped up his entire staff... of robots" and how to this day you can "still hear the screams... of their replicas. No memory of the incident, no idea what they're screaming about". The whole thing flip-flops nicely between being a bit spooky and being genuinely silly. Why would there be replicas of damaged bots whose only function seems to be to scream in terror over something they don't remember? Idk, Aperture Science. (It probably would be scary if you're a robot though, imagine being cursed to exist in the grip of a nameless terror for your entire life!)
But then, later on when you're travelling with GLaDOS, she makes a throwaway mention of "the room where all the robots scream at you", as if she has no idea why it exists or why they do that, like it's just a quick of the facility. Clearly it's not even something she's bothered to investigate or resolve when in control, it's just there.
Idk to me it's like... almost Monty Python-esque in that it's such a great un-payoff. Throwaway dialogue completing throwaway dialogue, each with no relation to the other. Fantastic worldbuilding serving no purpose other than to expound upon the utter insanity that is Aperture Science.
