Semi-Automatic Shotgun
A Browning Auto-5 drawn by @qsycomplainsalot for the firearm section of the Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy rulebook, providing a visual example of a Semi-Automatic Shotgun.
Shotguns become slightly less effective a longer ranges, but at the short and medium ranges that most Eureka shootouts will probably take place at, they’re extremely deadly, and semi-automatic ones can keep up with the fire rates of most common rifles, leaving their only weaknesses being lower ammunition capacity and inability to penetrate most body armor. It is also much easier to custom make silver shotgun shot than a silver bullet.
