More about me and my interest in NSP
I've watched through every story video of NSP, and just.. adore the series so so much LOL. i show this love very passionately and even though i say i hate Midas, i dont actually. I think he's a very solid character, just.. overused. I love drawing chaos agent and tek the most but every NSP character has a special place in my heart. I've been able to body act in two newscapepro episodes so far, and hopefully more. but yeah. in general this is just my dumping ground for everything i do NSP related so i dont annoy my loved ones.
I feel as if that i have given some undeserved hatred to Midas. In some posts of mine i have no problem explaining my distain for Midas. But truthfully I have changed my opinon.
To me now, Midas is a father who ruined something so dear to his heart. His life with Jules, and it was from what he believed a fault of his own. He couldn't take it and spent everything and everyone in his life to bring her back.
He is a character that had a great loss and sacrifice. Someone who worked very hard for his goal. All he wanted was a family, and he had been alone for so long after losing Rio and Jules, building his empire and only focused on getting them back that he didn't notice the people around him (like skye) who thought of him as family.
But despite this he still fixed and set things right. His relationship with his daughter is still a bit strained but he was always wanting to do what was right for her well being.
Truthfully in this reflection, my previous statements on his character was because of how hurt i felt when Chaos Agent seemed to get the short end of the stick in favor of Midas. But, i think with his ending confirmed, even though he didn't get to come back he still got to be with Toxin and Chic and there was closure.
I now, ever since then had come to appreciate his character and the imporant role he played. even though he still seems to have favoritism nobody can really help that because Actual Fortnite keeps making Midas relevant again.
Okay you reblogged one of my posts and btw I like newscapepro too… Arcadecloud, newscapepro, and LLizard are all pretty cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎🔥🔥🔥
THE WAY YOU DREW HIM WAS SO CHIBI SND CUTE AND ACCURATE. ALSO YAY ANOTHER NSP FAN. I didn't watch alot of LL but still. Ough message me sometime. We can talk about the fortnite brainrot 🌄🌄🌄🌄🌄
I get unironically upset when people baby beef boss, bro is a grown ass restaurant owner, he isn’t dumb or baby, he is an old man who owns a business. Also I drew him with his lazy eye because he has one, I love it. 😻
Newscapepro episode so good it makes you want to kill yourself.
I will just say right now before this review starts. i.. LOVED this episode, that is not an understatement, this episode legitimately brought me to tears and made me actually feel hope for the future of NSP.
I have never felt so much like, anything watching a nsp video. and i think, legitimately, this is one of my favorites in a long long time. The pacing, the dialogue, the moments. Everything was perfect. it felt so complete. And the scrapped ending that Ryan showed gave SO MUCH. i wish that was the ending we got instead, but ill still count it in the review.
First, I'll go ahead and breakdown the episode and review it along the way, giving my final thoughts and opinions at the end, so if you want to skip the whole breakdown that's fair. it's a long one.
--------------
Breakdown
The episode starts with the crew that Midas has assembled to take down Zeus, riding the train together. Going through each group's separated conversation on the train cars.
Including a scene where Marigold foreshadows more about herself being revealed (which is important later), and this really hilarious scene where Tek asks Jones to sign his robo arm since he got saved by him (jones declines LOL).
The main group with Midas explains the plan with one another and motivating each other a bit. it's a really great smooth establishment.
We then go to the group against the mortals, Zeus, Hades, ect. Explaining the capabilites the hourglasses that they have in their power have. Along with the final member in Zeus' alliance showing up. His son Ares. With his whole group complete, Zeus seems more than confident for victory.
Zeus' guards spot the train that Midas and his group are on, confirming they're on their way to the underworld, and report it to him. The other gods try to stop him from striking the train, but he argues that even if Aphrodite and Poseidon is on the train, they are is still traitors and strikes it anyway.
The train crashes and everyone is at least injured, as Midas recovers first we get this kinda cool pov of Midas when he's checking in on everyone slowly walking through the train's rubble. Everyone is talking with one another to confirm they're ok and... the greatest moment in recent Tek history... he tells Midas TO SHUT UP. its more of a grunt, but STILL. i was so happy when he said that LOL my own Midas hate bias aside, the fact that Tek was able to say that to him when he was previously afraid of doing so when he used to work in Agency is huge, at least for me it is.
Finally, Midas checks in with Aphrodite, he relates with her a bit with the feeling of family betrayal and gives this honestly really well written inspiration speech for everyone for motivation. He breaks down the plan for everyone, where there are 4 hour glasses of Zeus' to break and 4 teams. So each team will split up and get rid of them.
Now the concert scene, this one is really cool to me for two reasons and ill say so after the breakdown.
Meowcles and Skye get to the concert and at the same time Tek, Jones, and Poseidon make it to Ares and initiate his battle. After that, Midas, Hope and Aphrodite make it to Zeus to destroy his hourglass. All while this is happening, the whole scene is truly wrapped together so well with the concert music playing overtop, with each team's separate arrival, I was really impressed.
But Meowcles and Skye finally stumble into Cerberus' lair to destroy the hourglass, and they exchange some dialogue and honestly the bit of comedy put in there made me chuckle, it's so well written. Meowcles and Skye reveal they brought Medusa to help with the fight, and she brought Perseus as backup so they all gang up on him.
And now we catch up with Jules and Marigold. They arrive to the Karin's hourglass, but they seemed to be expecting cerberus. They interrogate him a bit and surprise, surprise, he's actually Oro... obvious sarcasm aside this reveal was just.. not that strong to me, because you really could see it a thousand miles away LOL. But, apparently after Oro was killed he was taken to the underworld and convinced Hades to allow him to stay, his ultimate goal being to take over the Underworld.
Marigold with his reveal begins lamenting her history and how long she had been trying to find him. But he was 'here' this whole time. Oro just seemed to favor the alternate reality rather than where Marigold came from. Learning this she becomes enraged and she uses her iconic light blasting powers on Oro, he exchanges and fights back. Jules joins in and they seem to be doing well until Oro strikes Jules harder and she becomes unconscious causing Marigold to panic.
We're left on a cliffhanger going back to Aphrodite facing up against guards, she's cornered and in the nic of time Artemis saves her, killing the guards. They go into a squabble, with either one trying to convince the other to join their side. Artemis doesn't understand why she wants to help the mortals but doesn't want to harm her sister. Aphrodite is convinced her sister is blind to her father's madness and they result to physically fighting.
Posiden is brought to focus now, facing right up with Ares. and Tek has a really great moment where he sounds just. so dumb and clueless. going "that Ares guy looks tough!" yes Tek.. thank you for pointing out the obvious, hes so funny to me... i had to pause it and just breathe for a sec LOL he suggests helping Poseidon out and Jones advises not to and they just stick to shooting from the sidelines.
Finally we're back with Hope and Midas. now.. for a long time ive REALLY hated the way that exposition was done in nsp (Helsies very obvious self exposition of things she would say OUTLOUD to herself that she ALREADY KNEW.) but the way that hope had done it this episode felt SO right. she had a reason to speak her doubts and update the audience with Midas being by her side. it has a point!!!! and thats why i love this episode so much. All the choices in it feel like they have a purpose!!!! THEY HAVE A POINT THAT IS BELIEVABLE AND IMMERSIVE. and i just... i love it so much..
They share some dialogue with Zeus and again, the exposition IT FEELS SO GOOD. AND FULL OF PURPOSE. I just... UGH.. it made me feel so satisfied seeing it play out.
He strikes Hope down and Midas is left alone with Zeus, exchanging more dialogue each spat between the two enrages him more and more, and as makes the first strike to Midas. Mr. Godslayer reveals that Aphrodite gave him the power of flight.
We're back to Marigold still struggling to fight Oro, she swears to take revenge on what he had done to her. He doesn't take this threat very seriously, during his own threat Apollo shows up sent by Aphrodite. Marigold accepts the help but it's still not enough because of the hour glass that Oro still has since it grants him the power of Zeus. But despite this they go at him anyway, Jules still knocked out.
Back to Poseidon and they're also struggling against Ares, Jones tells him they're after the hour glass. But he drops the news that there was no hourglass. and he had destroyed it as soon as Zeus had given it to him, because he didn't think it was fair (which i actually respect LOL gg ares).
and we also get another amazing tek line where he points out the obvious and goes "THAT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE.... WHY?!??!"
Jones' last resort is to call in the fucking god of war kratos and lets him just face off against ares. which honestly even though its super plot convenient made me laugh cause we havent seen kratos in a while. So now while they face off instead; Posieden, Jones and Tek all decide to watch. Tek is so hilarous... all of the scenes he's in just make me squeal he's so stupid.
during this Aphrodite and Artemis are still fighting, having banter inbetween the punches. She manages to convince Artemis of Zeus' madness and they stop fighting. The emotion between the two of them is really strong.. Like.. i love the line delivery from Artemis. She sounds so regretful. But, when Aphrodite asks her sister help she seems already on the way and shoots an arrow into the sky.
The effects of this are immediately shown when we're back to the losing battle of literally 4 people vs Cerberus, two of which are of godly status.
Skye of all people decides 'well i guess thats it we're giving up' and she seems ready to die LOL. maybe she had a feeling things would work out anyway, but shes uncharacteristically giving up easily.. its a bit strange. While Cereberus celebrates his early victory, the arrow lands on the center of the hour glass and it blows up. So he begins to lose his power. While Medusa wanted to kill Cereberus Perseus argues that even if he was bad he still deserves a chance of life. so they spare him.
Meanwhile, Marigold even with the help of Apollo is still losing. They need to destroy the hour glass but cant figure out how.
In a surprising turn of events, Solid Snake out of no where had already put C4 on the hour glass and it blows up. Thank you Solid Snake. Now with Oro weakened he's finally vunerable, and Marigold has this really awesome line where she tells Oro to go to hell afterwards he dies pretty much instantly.
We go into the mind of Jules who is still knocked out, but shes in what i like to call Newscapepro Heaven, becasue thats exactly what it is.
But this is by far my FAVORITE part of the episode. we finally get to see what happened to so many characters who had died through the entire progression of the series. Brutus, TNTina, and Visitor are fishing and being buddies. Orin and Ultima Knight are training together. And finally, the most important part of this to me..
Issac, Toxin, and Chic.
They're all finally together, after so much struggle and hardship. Chic finally gets to be with her parents again. she's dancing, they're encouraging her. She finally got her happy fairy tale family back.
Even if they still have remains of their appearances during the Shadow era, theyre all together again, and happy.. Jules even remarks to them looking happy.. it just, broke my heart to see them all together again, to see Chic happy with her parents. I will not have shame in saying i cried a river to this. Knowing that they all really did end up together in the afterlife. It really broke me.
and as Jules walks through the grassy fields, she meets face to face with Fade. which made me sad too. She's shocked to see him, and he's surprisingly calm. I.. honestly kind of wish the reunion of this was stronger. But they're both pretty low emotion characters so it makes sense why it turned out that way.
He gives her a bit of insight of where she is, and she asks if she's dead. Shes not, even if she wants to be. Now, i .. dont think it was fair that Jules has to keep living on. I mean yeah Midas would be without a daughter, but she outright says shes done with it. And i'm sure she misses Fade, i remember how affected she was with his death. And honestly i kind of wish she got to move on.
But Fade tells her to keep going on, and asks if she's found anyone yet. and both of them havent, and it kind of.. makes me sad the way that he hints on having moved on, because i mean fade and jules .. were a great couple and it makes me sad to know that they've both moved on. Agh... Especially since he had to leave his earth family behind. Idk it kills me... IDK IDK..
they say their goodbyes and Jules returns to the real world. Marigold and everyone else makes it back to the yahct and we get this kind of ominous "ooooooo oro might come back oooooooo" end to that scene. Really.. i hope he doesnt come back he's been back so much LOL
Midas and Zeus are the last ones remaining in the fight and eventually through the fight Hades arrives and checks in. he realizes that the hour glasses are being destoryed and so now both Midas and Zeus are weak. Hades arrives and Zeus commands his brother to kill Midas right there, but hilariously enough Hades says no because seeing this unfold was interesting.
Artemis brings her sister to Zeus during this and he greets them both, she explain that Aphrodite has seen the errors of her ways. Zeus asks her to kill Midas for him to prove her loyalty. Hope arrives last minute ready to strike him now that he has no more hour glasses. But apparently there was one more that he... Implanted.. Into Aphrodite, who he claims he loves the most.
She invites him for a hug after hearing this, seemingly touched by this. But instantly stabs him in the back, literally, and asks everyone to strike Zeus now while he's weak.
Finally, with everyone attacking him he enter's some kind of Final Form cursing the apocolypse upon the island, the statue at Olympis coming to life. Its sword raising up and creating a strike of lightning hitting pandora's box. This lightining hops across the island until skipping across the ocean and creating a massive oncoming storm of sand.
Midas explains this must be Zeus' final gift to humanity.
Now finally, the remaining gods are all gathered in Olympis save for Ares who is fighting Kratos still LOL. They all discuss how Zeus is not dead, but now no longer welcome within their ranks.
Through some banter between them all they nominate Aphrodite to rule over olympis. She argues not to, but Hades convinces her otherwise.
Now in classic NSP fashion we get this end of season dance party with all the good guys dancing together, including snake. Marigold and Jules join in a bit later (which i will explain in a minute). And Midas is seen looking over the front of the yaut at the on coming sand storm. But decides to go and dance with the others. And in general its just a really nice ending scene, which goes on for a bit before they all group up and take a photo together (Tek got covered by marigold LOL).
and we fade out to a sort of teaser for next season, its super atmospheric, with old 50s music playing over someone driving a bus through the sandy wastelands of current time.
and out of the bus steps possibly. The Worst Newscapepro Villan. EVER. Deadfire. (who i .. thought died???????) he sees Oscar, but pays no mind to him. Instead walking into a building and gets the attention of Valeria. Noting her as the one who started all of this. And the episode ends.

Final thoughts
as i said in the beginning of this. This is possibly my favorite newscapepro of recent. It was done.. So so well... The comedy was great, the timing was right every time just.. everything. UGH. it made me feel just so satisfied after watching it.
Especially seeing Issac and his family together again. It really brought me to tears, and i've said that alot since it came out. but just seeing them all together again really meant so much to me. Especially since Midas got to recieve so much and the whole storyline with Chaos Agent seemed to be abandoned.. Though, i really really hate symbiote chaos agent, and willfully choose to ignore that is apart of his retcon LOL.. i just .. i will not go into that.
But, i did mention the concert scene and i want to expand on that more. the first thing about it that is so cool was that i kind of was in it!!! i got a bit cut off (probably because i took forever to choose emotes SORRY RYAN.) but i was love ranger!! in the last time i got to be in an episode i was jack gourdon.
another thing i thought was cool and is less of an ego point, was that the way it was pulled off. I love love love how even when other characters were doing their thing we still had the concert music playing in the background and it just really made the scene feel so connected. It was great.
Another scene i wanted to bring up was the deleted scene.
And, Ryan explained in the discord that this scene was cut because of pacing issues. But i just find that to be such a strange decision. because it's a really integral part to understanding the whole Marigold Jules thing. Dont get me wrong. I loved that scene, but it just bothers me that it was scrapped for pacing when the dance party scene probably could have been cut LOL.
Plus, the interaction between Marigold and Jules with her being accepted into the family.. it just made me so emotional too. It was done so well.. I really really liked it and the whole split time line thing made SO MUCH sense... it made me so happy to see really what the alternate version of the whole Oro Midas events would have turned out as if Marigold had been transformed instead. But.. just the idea that Midas probably had no idea how to react to her revealing this to me just kills me. But the fact that it wasnt Midas, but Jules who offered her the title of sister, speaks so much.. its so beautiful and ughhhhhh i love it so much.. sob sob sob sob
But.. i mean i can't really think of anything about the episode i didnt like. The pacing issues i previously noticed were basically non-exsistant here. And thats probably cause Ryan did all the work. So really really, it paid off. This episode was done so so beautifully.
