177B Bleecker St, the address was scrawled in a messy script under a short message, it hadn’t been difficult to find, and she’d made good time from the hospital. Only she finds herself standing in front of the great doors, unable to lift her hand to pull them open. What was she doing here, she’d honestly thought she’d put him behind her—when he’d left without a single good bye, though their last conversation had been a good bye on its own. Still, it seemed his ability to draw her in was intact, and God she had so many question about what she had witnessed, about him and where he’d been—there had been a floating cloak, she vividly remembers that.
Above anything else, it was her good conscious as a Doctor that made her drag her feet over, despite the reluctance. His stitches would need looking after, he’d been on the move too soon after the wound had bee closed. Inhaling deeply, gathering her courage, she opens the heavy doors and steps inside. Her eyes fall on him without fail, perhaps it was the eye catching outfit or the habit of seeking him out when she entered a room so she might best situate herself.
“Stephen.” she greets him simply, walking inside and letting the doors close behind her. “I got your message,” holding up the paper she waves it once in the air before burying her hands deep in her coat pocket. Taking in the grandeur of the hall they stood in she can’t help but make the comment. “You know, some how this place still manages to feel homier then the penthouse.”
The hall, the cloak... it was all a facade, an illusion like the ones he had learned to conjure in all that time away from his old life. He had let go of everything. His money, his possessions, his career as a doctor. Everything but Christine. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that she could see past that mask the Masters requested him to wear.
As soon as she walked into the room, his mind was thrown back years ago. All the responsability he was recently burdened with seemed to fade for an instant. “You never liked that penthouse to begin with.” Allowing himself to glance around the ceremonious hall, his eyes were drawn back to Christine in no time. “Although the wifi here is better.” he added, a playful yet rather cocky grin curving his lips.
“C’mon in. I’ll make you some coffee.”
