the fact that smeyer is making another twilight book...the fact that its all about the creepy white boy...whew
anyways, help support the quileute tribe move to higher ground and take a few minutes on their official website and finally take a look at truth vs twilight for a simplified breakdown of the problems of their portrayal in the books (and click around for more in depth readings)
“I always remember having this fight with a random dude who claimed that ‘straight white men’ were the only true innovators. His prime example for this was the computer… the computer… THE COMPUTER!!! THE COM-PU-TER!!!
Alan Turing - Gay man and ‘father of computing’ Wren operating Bombe - The code cracking computers of the 2nd world war were entirely run by women Katherine Johnson - African American NASA mathematician and ‘Human computer’ Ada Lovelace - arguably the 1st computer programmer”
- Sacha Coward
Also Margaret Hamilton - NASA computer scientist who put the first man on the moon - an as-yet-unmatched feet of software engineering, here pictured beside the full source of that computer programme. #myhero
Grace Hopper - the woman that coined the term “bug”
- @robinlayfield
Grace Hopper did more than coin the term “bug”. She invented the first program linker in the early 1950s, for the UNIVAC I. A program linker translates instructions from one language to another (for example, numerical codes that represent instructions translated to machine code that computers can read), which is the very foundation of how computer’s operate independently. she also pulled a steve rogers and tried to enlist in the military a bunch of times and was denied. then, an exception was made for her when she joined the navy reserves, and she ended up serving for over 40 years (half of which was active duty). she retired from the navy Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. she was born in NYC in 1906. Grace Hopper was a fucking badass.
also computing was typically a job for women (many of whom were black women that made incredible contributions) back in the day, so it’s absolutely fucking wild that straight white men think they are the foundation of computer innovation. men PUSHED women out and took the credit.

i love this website because people can just assert anything they want no matter how untrue it is and as long as it’s stated with some modicum of confidence people will be like ‘yeah that sounds right’ and reblog it
At first I was like “Wow, if Vanitas is Darkness and Demyx is the MoM, it’d be really weird for Vanitas and Demyx to be ancient enemies…”
But then I realized… No. This makes sense.
They’re both the cartooniest characters.
They’d be like Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner.
I feel like everyone deserves to share this thought with me. I think it’s beautiful.
Sorry but If I saw a door into another world of course I would go through .
Did anyone else’s undiagnosed depression when they were young manifest in terrible dental hygiene that haunts you to this day or was that just a me thing
I am shocked and relieved by how relatable this is
Hey I want everyone on this post know that I didn’t brush my teeth for years. My parents never had the follow through to help all us depressed and/or autistic kids actually make brushing teeth a habit since they themselves don’t have it as a habit.
Anyways, I got to a point with my depression where I knew that I had to do something. Anything for myself. And I realized that my teeth were a huge source of self hatred and reinforced a lot of my negative self talk, so, I decided that I would just start keeping track to see how often I actually was brushing.
When I first started tracking my brushing habits on my phone, I was only brushing my teeth once every two months or so and that was after months (if not years) of thinking about how I wanted to start trying to brush more often. Then I got to doing it once a month. Then twice a month. Then eventually I got to a point where I felt like it was something I had control over, not just a fact of life. Something I could actively try to change, not an unfortunate consequence of my upbringing.
It took me a year and a half of tracking my brushing (and using mouthwash) before I brushed my teeth every day for a full month. It took 8 months to start flossing just once a week.
But now, I brush my teeth everyday and floss once a week. The dread and the barrier that my depression puts up telling me that I don’t wanna do it or I don’t have to do it today is still there sometimes, but it’s a lot quieter and it’s a whole hell of a lot easier to push past. Just two years ago, I thought I was going to lose all of my teeth one day due to smoking and never brushing my teeth, but now I can confidently say that I brush and floss my teeth. Maybe it’s not twice a day and three times a week, but it’s something that I do consistently and also, ever.
So, if you’re struggling with brushing your teeth, my advice would be just keep track. No judgment, not expectation of change, just see where you’re at with it so you can work with yourself to find where you can add an extra time or two in. And, eventually, it will become an activity that you can do, even a little bit more than you did before.
i’m so happy to have Villanelle and her facial expressions back

I know there’s a lot of dudes that hate their arrogance. You know what? SUCK IT. As a woman, it is so, SO GOOD to see this.
Never apologize for this!!
Also they’re right? Captain Marvel is insanely powerful, and Valkyrie is literally a god???
This isn’t even arrogance, this is them refusing to make themselves small in order to make other people better.
I love arrogant women
