Creative and entertaining, but no drama! Slave to the muses. A mixed bag of femslash, a scoop of a couple m/f pairings and a dash of poly for spice. I have proclaimed myself Grand Poobah of the sturdy little dinghy that is AgentCorp! I also LOVE dansen and agentreigncorp. Huge Peggy Carter fan! 1st officer of the SSS Stegginelli. Angie Martinelli makes everything better. I want to be Steve Rogers, or at least my version of him.
I don't know how people watch the S2 reunion scene and think Vi's a dom. She's the one with the plan to be restrained, she's the one asking to be hit, "being tied up sure helps." It's like they saw the spit scene and decided Caitlyn must love being submissive and degraded. Hello? Brats can spit too!
I have a feeling people want to see Caitlyn being submissive because she messed up when she was in charge so therefore she must never be in charge again. Her being submissive is then supposed to be her penance to Vi. (And some people treat Cait like Vi's personal sex doll and it's weird.)
I want to address this reasoning I've seen before for Cait being a sub is that "she thinks too much, she deserves a break." It's actually Vi who thinks too much and spirals in her thoughts and guilt and supposed mistakes. There was a whole montage of it! She quite literally says as much in the jail scene. Stop putting even more responsibility on her!
Caitlyn, lacking control of her own life, finally getting it and fucking it all up. Vi, not trusting anyone else to do what needs to be done, finally putting her trust in Cait and that blowing up in her face. So yeah! I agree that it's thematically pleasing to have Caitlyn be in control and doing right by Vi and have Vi choosing to trust Cait and getting that trust honored and not be another mistake she makes. It goes full circle with their character arcs.
(Also, it's hot.)
BRATS CAN SPIT TOO!!!!
honestly, you're so correct about all of this. we literally have basically an impromptu bdsm scene IN the show and it's vi subbing. btwn that and caitlyn using domme voice in that war planning meeting there is no doubt in my mind.
you've given me a chance to really go all in with this so i'm just going to start rambling under the cut
i think you're really onto something wrt the idea that some people seem to think cait should submit to vi sexually as some sort of reparations for her villain arc. honestly, i think it goes further, i think from the very beginning ppl have been uncomfortable with the power imbalance in their relationship due to the wealth/class disparity and also due to Caitlyn's position as an enforcer vs Vi's status as a victim of the corrupt prison system.
Leaving aside how absolutely fucking weird and twisted it is to view submission as something that can be used like fucking carbon offsets to account for privilege or misdeeds and/or something that can be "owed" to a person for any reason - it's so fucking BORRRIIINNGGGG to approach all that crazy good tension by trying to like. idk. diffuse it by having the person with less structural power "balance the scales" by dominating the person with privilege over them. there's nothing about that that creates any equality, you're just assigning a weird moral value to both privilege (and lack thereof) and acts of dominance and submission (and sometimes even top/bottom - all of which are morally neutral)
@haxanhexes and i were talking about this earlier, actually
and i think that's basically a good summary of what i find appealing. i think caitlyn as a character who has a lot of power and still craves it is interesting and i like complicating that by having her struggle with how it makes her feel about herself sometimes. conversely, vi as someone who hasn't had the opportunity to choose to give her power away could get something really meaningful out of being in that position. as hex says and as is truly healthy in this kind of dynamic, the power imbalance is played up and a huge factor of control is held by the submissive who is choosing what to allow.
anyway you're sooooo right about this part
Caitlyn, lacking control of her own life, finally getting it and fucking it all up. Vi, not trusting anyone else to do what needs to be done, finally putting her trust in Cait and that blowing up in her face. So yeah! I agree that it's thematically pleasing to have Caitlyn be in control and doing right by Vi and have Vi choosing to trust Cait and getting that trust honored and not be another mistake she makes. It goes full circle with their character arcs.
THIS IS BASICALLY IT!!! THIS IS THE MANIFESTO. CLAPPING AND CHEERING AND HOLLERING
and finally your best and most salient point
(Also, it's hot.)
thank you for showing up in my inbox with this. it was fun to get on my stupid little soapbox about something ultimately not that deep that i have spent a lot of time thinking and writing about lmao
next time ask me for my HC about caitlyn kiramman's domme origins
#Helios was declawed by his former owners so he doesn't just slap things he dislikes like most cats#he really only feels confident in hissing at them#Especially because a lot of the thing he doesn't like are bugs and those are sharp sometimes :(#Selene has figured this out and now when she hears him hiss she sprints over the kill the fuck out of the bug#Helios has learned she will do this so he'll hiss at stuff louder and louder until she hears him#A nervous old man and his emotional support homicidal maniac

Yes, he is more than twice her size.
Yes, he is five times her age.
Yes, he cries like a big baby until she kills Unacceptable Scary Things (earwigs) for him.
A french one a friend sent me, we send each other pictures of doors for.... reasons.
The direct translation is "door out of use" and "just like us all", but the french word for "out of use" also means "doomed". So it would be something like "door doomed, just like us all".
Drinking soda is better than drinking nothing all day. Eating ice cream for dinner is better than eating nothing for dinner. Eating salsa is better than having no produce in your diet at all.
Water is way more hydrating than soda, but soda is more hydrating than nothing. A balanced meal is way more nutritious than ice cream, but ice cream is more nutritious than nothing.
Something is better than nothing. Some hydration is better than no hydration. Some nutrients are better than no nutrients. Some produce is better than no produce.
Don't let societally imposed food guilt trick you into believing that nothing is a better choice. Nourishing your body, however you can, is always the better choice. Fed is best. Always.
I have spent a significant portion of my life sick in bed. This means I have read... a lot of fanfiction. I do not want to run the numbers (for my own sanity) but there is a nonzero chance that I have read a greater volume of fanfiction than most of you will in a lifetime (yes, even in a tumblr crowd, where I have some real competition š).
For a number of years I was really embarrassed by this because for most of my life, I've fit best with the 'socially elitist nerd' set. You know - the ones who don't care if you make a little less eye contact, as long as your performance of intelligence can make them feel intelligent too. I "passed" there. So more than a decade of constant fluff and rom-com "junk" really felt like something I should be ashamed of.
But I've realized recently what fanfiction (or any free web fiction) really is. It's the author's hopes. It's the author's fears. It's all the things you wouldn't write to publish because they feel too sad, or sinful, or sacred.
Without really thinking about it, I've been drinking from the well of human desire - from fear, and love, and lust. I've been reading your precious wishes for family, or protection, or connection. I've been learning how you dream life could be.
Thank you to every writer whose work I have read or will read someday. Thank you for sharing the most precious parts of your heart, even when you didn't realize what you were doing. To every writer out there - every middle schooler with dreams, every suburban mom wishing her life could be something more. You reached out into the oblivion with the piece of yourself you probably don't even share with those closest. And somewhere in this world, a person noticed. Your dreams and hopes and wishes became a piece of me too.
at this point whenever the topic of trans healthcare for minors comes up i just say that i would rather a million cis kids start hormones and then change their minds than have a single trans kid commit suicide because they were barred from medically transitioning and i refuse to budge on that even a little bit
i get so emotional every time i think about fanfic culture. it's just so beautiful that people are writing and anonymously posting these thousand-word stories about characters we all love and not even getting any money or public fame from it. it's literally just for the love of the game.
shout out to everyone who participates in fanfic culture, be it reading or writing fanfics. you are contributing to such a lovely thing <3
Ok but can we talk about the loneliness that comes with being chronically ill? If youāre not able to work or go to events, thereās so much time spent by yourself.
It feels like Im a zoo animal with no enrichment or friends, just me staring out the glass
Pleased to report that after a day of this i am not longer craving caper brine and my mouth is not dry as usual. There's some good suggestions in the notes too that I want to try.
-ancient roman posca: water, red or white wine vinegar, honey, salt, herbs (coriander, mint, thyme)
-switchel: water, ginger, vinegar, sweetener, lemon, salt
The answer to "How did these Ancient People do this????" is basically always
1. A lot of dudes. Just a ton of fucking people from beginning to end of the process.
2. Ancient people weren't stupid, they just figured shit out the same way we do: fuck around until you find out.
3. We're gonna plan this out and it's gonna take ten fucking years, and you will cope.
4. Sticks and string are surprisingly versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, like moving stuff and making sure things are even and go in the spot you wanted to put them in!
5. I want to make this easier and more efficient to move. If I put this on the round thing and push, it will move. If I put this in water, it will move. If I get some animals and rope and have a whole bunch of them drag it, it will move. All of these things are a better option than one guy trying to pick the whole fucking thing up.
History absolutely does record the stupid megaprojects that failed. Here are just a few of them:
Fidenae Stadium Disaster of 27AD. A huge gladitorial stadium, built fast and cheap, collapsed and killed 20,000 people, as well as injuring many more out of the total audience of 50,000.
The Sagrada Familia was started in 1882. It is still not finished.
Mingun Pahtodawgyi was started in 1790 but a prophecy said the king who commissioned it would die when it was finished, so he stopped building it.
The Pyramid of Neferefre was never finished because Neferefre died early and his successor didn't bother.
Alai Minar was supposed to be twice the diameter and twice the height of Qutb Minar. Didn't get past the first storey, abandoned in 1316.
Bara Kaman, abandoned in 1672.
The Basilica of San Petronio was started in 1390. The main facade was never finished. In 1514, they hired a guy to construct the dome, but the pope ordered the "megalomaniac dream" halted.
Arguably every empire that has ever fallen counts as a stupid megaproject that failed.
