Learning about FNC lore through you for KH has wired my brain wrong. I've just started playing FFXVI and, it might be surface-level, but I'm already seeing a ton of connections.

Well, feel free to share any intriguing discoveries you might have! I love to hear about the connections and similarities people find in other FF titles.

I've seen a lot of people lately who are in support of the MoMyx theory (good! yay!) but then I've also seen posts with THOUSANDS of retweets that are like "Demyx=MoM would be dumb and stupid and he wouldn't even be a good villain and I think that would be BAD writing and I'll stop playing the games if it's true!!!"

Like, wow you sound like you must know everything about something that hasn't even happened yet. ngl, if you're the type of person who isn't even willing to think about how it might be *good* instead of immediately writing it off of "bad writing", then I hope you DO stop playing KH. Listen, even if it's not true, it comes across as really fucking rude to the people who DO like the theory and I tend to block people who get that aggressive about it.

Hi! I stumbled upon your INCREDIBLY detailed google doc about the Type 0/KH connections and I'm just blown away. I had to track you down just to say thank you for taking the time to research and compile all that information. I've been looking for a way to explain connections between the two series and I feel like I stumbled upon an already written master's thesis (no pun intended). 😄 I am unfamiliar with Type 0 aside from some characters and general themes so I found the whole thing totally fascinating.

It's been my theory since KHII that something is off with Demyx- his dialogue has always been strange, like he knows more than he says. And his unusual strength plays into that. There's a scene with him and Vexen in KH3 that seemed odd too. Vexen talks about "men like us- in the pursuit of science" and says he wants to atone. Demyx glares for a second when Vexen is turned. It's like the mask dropped, like he was mad at being "exposed" as a 'man of science', as something other than the incompetent fool. Or he doesn't like the idea of atoning. Possibly thinking there's nothing to atone for if he's anything like Jack.

Anyway, I just wanted to say bravo!! You got me SO excited for KH4, even more so than the trailers 💗

I actually made a post about that Vexen and Demyx scene a little while ago. Here's that if you're interested.

There's definitely always been something strange about Demyx. He has unexplored depths. I wouldn't even be surprised if Jack was Nomura's way of trying to do more things with a "Demyx-like character" before the Nobodies were brought back in DDD. Heck, as you read in the doc, even Jack has depths that were unexplored in base Type-0. Had Agito+ not been cancelled, Jack's fanwiki page would be a lot longer; there's so much information that only exists in a lost media game now. I hope that Nomura finally gets to fully realize these characters the way that he wanted. 🙏

There was something I noticed some time ago, but I guess I decided that it wasn't relevant. Now that KH4 is back, I'm thinking about it again.

In Japanese, the MoM tells Xehanort that he could refer to himself as "Jack" or "Taro." Obviously, I think that "Jack" could be a blatant reference to Jack from Agito XIII/Type-0, but the two names are also common names of characters in fairytales.

One such fairytale is the story of Urashima Taro. The protagonist, Taro, rescues a turtle on the beach. The turtle brings him to the Dragon Palace under the sea where he meets the princess, Otohime. For his kindness to the turtle, Otohime entertains him for several days and he has a great time. When it's time for him to leave, she gives him a box called the tamate-bako and tells him to never open it. Upon returning to the surface, Taro discovers that he was actually gone for over 100 years, and all of his friends and family are dead. In his grief, he opens the box and rapidly ages into an old man, the box having contained all the time that he spent under the sea.

You may have heard the story in various anime and games. I was just reminded of it while playing FFXIV's Stormblood, where you're tasked with finding the tamate-bako in one questline.

I feel like this pairs well with my theory that Demyx is the young version of the MoM. The box could contain time or his memories - something that would "age" him. If the MoM told Luxu that the box would age whoever opens it, perhaps that's why Luxu reacted with "But why?!"

Just needed to have this thought here in case it actually IS relevant.

I might just be overthinking it, but I feel like there could be something special about the giant Darkside in the KH4 trailer.

Ava says that the darkness was given form once they (presumably the Foretellers) arrived in Quadratum. I believe that the Darkness is following them specifically. We know that it would follow the MoM relentlessly no matter where he went, and he was hoping that he could finally escape from it if he went outside of reality.

The Darkside and the other Heartless appear to be more human-like in Quadratum. It makes me wonder if this Darkside is so gigantic because its form was based on someone in specific - someone very strong - like the MoM. If that's true, its appearance might be a hint towards what the MoM looks like.

You may notice that it doesn't have the "tentacles" that usually cover a Darkside's head and face. Instead, it has some "hair" that falls over its face and spiky hair on top. (I'm trying so hard not to say that it looks like Jack's hair. I truly might be hallucinating. I see Jack in everything.) Even if its features don't end up being unique, I think its sheer size will be; I doubt that every Darkside we encounter in KH4 will be the size of Godzilla like this one.

It isn't the first notably unusual Darkside we've seen...

"It looks different from other Darksides Sora has battled with, but the cause remains a mystery."

Even the journal points out its strangeness. This mystery has plagued me for a long time. I feel like most people forgot about this or just shrugged and never thought it was that important to begin with.

Why did this Darkside from the Final World look so different? It's either made of light and darkness -- or water, since it seems to be see-through.

Anyway, based on how difficult the battle against this Darkside seems to be, I don't think Sora will be able to defeat it by himself. Is that when Xehanort steps in? Or will the MoM himself take it down?

Edit: I've been reminded that Donald and Goofy exist. The two lights in the trailer could be D&G to the rescue. lol (But will they be enough?)

Assuming that this is Sigurd, I do think that this could be Luxu in yet another body.

In the first Missing Link trailer, we heard Sigurd's voice. However, when we heard him again in the first KH4 trailer, he sounded completely different; same voice, but his tone had changed and become much darker. I don't think that Luxu was the one in the black coat, covering the eye of the No Name in that first trailer. Rather, that was probably Brain who had accepted the keyblade from him. In short, I think that we would have probably met the real Sigurd in the beginning, but then he would have gotten taken over by Luxu.

So. Since Xehanort can apparently look like his younger self in Quadratum, I think it's possible that Luxu could assume any form he's taken in the past.

Also, I'm pretty sure his eyes are yellow...? Since Luxu's eyes were still yellow at the end of KH3, I think that's just one of his traits now rather than a sign of "norting."

edit: How could I forget how similar their names are in Japanese? Xigbar is シグバール (shigubaaru) and Sigurd is シグルド (shigurudo). Their names contain three of the same characters.

Luxord’s Suit buttons have Phoenix imagery on them, ik its not the exact same as Rubrum’s but VERY ODD.

That's such a small detail, I didn't even see that. lol HMMM... There's still my theory that he's Brain, and Brain is very similar to Machina. So he could have his own type of connection to Rubrum/Daybreak Town in that way. But his overall outfit is definitely screaming FFXV to me with the black on black.

I feel absolutely insane for not having noticed this sooner. I'm amazed that there are even still things for me to notice. It never ends!!

OP, let me tell you. Let me tell you my thoughts.

ok, so I'm still on the train that Demyx is the younger version of the MoM who traveled from the past to the future, (unintentionally?) erasing his future self in the process. And I'm still of the belief that the MoM is based on Jack from Type-0/Agito XIII. Because he just is.

The "Agito" of Agito XIII is supposed to be a destined hero foretold in prophecy who would save the world from its repeating history of war. They aren't Jack. They aren't any member of the main cast. In fact, Agito never appears in the story of Type-0. They were *supposed* to appear in Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Agito, the mobile game sequel (which got shut down before the story could officially be completed.)

And so, as a result, Agito remains as a bizarre, unresolved remnant in the story of Type-0, leaving it up to players to decide whether or not Agito is even real or just symbolic. But they ARE real! They really were meant to be real!!

And that's Sora. Or maybe it's Riku? Whoever the Child of Destiny is, they're Agito. Spiritually. In the same way that Yozora "is" Noctis.

All of this to say, I don't think that the MoM wanted to be a part of this. He didn't want to be involved. He watched his friends die and couldn't save them because he isn't the special, destined person who can save everyone. Imagine how demotivating it must be to have the ability to see the future and realize that there's nothing YOU can do. I'm reminded of Demyx's Character Files profile which said that he became even more unmotivated when he was put on the bench. Remember how seemingly uncharacteristically excited he became when Vexen told him that there was something he COULD do.

Because my gf introduced me to FFXIV and I made Jack as my WoL and I've been having too much fun dressing him up in silly little outfits, ok!!!

I'll have to do a whole glam showcase. He's very handsome. Very fashionable.
