Drain the pool, Andrés Gallardo Albajar
About 10 or so years ago i spent a few Sundays ripping this wood flooring out of a house that was soon to be demolished. For roughly 10 years this wood flooring was tied up in bundles . I moved these bundles different studios. Recently I double timed it to get my present studio/gallery in a presentable shape for a “soft “opening . Most the time leading up to this was spent on building new walls . One wall being a 10’x10’ movable wall . At some point I had the wild idea to prep , print and install this reclaimed wood . First step was to run the flooring through a planer . A solid human loaned me a planer and I let er’ rip . Next came the elbow tiring task of chiseling out years of crud on the tongue and in the grove of the lengths . 2 runs of sanding each length came next . Then the fun part began . Each piece was screen printed by hand on a older style 1 arm bandit press . An old piece of flooring that didn’t make the cut was out under the screen to give me my offset needed to make printing go smooth .
