The only good thing about Halloween is the candy.. | Event 2 | Kaius & Shale |
Kaius continued to watch his old friend get swallowed up by useless words until Shale blocked his view. But it was as if he stared right past her. It was only when she touched his arm did he look at her. His eyes widen and he slapped her hand away, “No, don’t touch me!” He wanted to back away some more but he couldn’t. So he just crouched down, as far away as possible from her, burying his face and hugging his knees. No, he didn’t want to see her turn into.. that. He didn’t even want to hear it. Even from a distance, her murmurs of no meanings continued to crawl into his ears, filling up his mind. He always wanted to hear Sora’s voice again, but not this one. “I.. I don’t want to turn you into that thing too…” His voice, cracked and muffled, shaking his head subtly.
The soft mutters seem to grow louder in his head, pounding inside to give him a horrible headache. He should never use his powers, never ever ever, not even in class. Remember that one time he asked Isobel if he could try using his powers if she ever got sick? What was he even thinking? He isn’t meant to use these powers at all, like a kid that got the wrong Christmas present and have no clue on what to do with it now; you can’t use it, but you can’t throw it away either. He didn’t know was going on, and he couldn’t think straight. He needed to, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t even remember what was happening before, all that’s in his mind is her wordless mutters and distinct whispers that float by, 'It's all your fault.'
"Just.." He finally spoke again, not looking up to her. He let out a shaky breath as he continued, "Just stay away from me…" He shouldn’t be here, it just brings his powers all back. They say that Apollo kids all had good powers to heal. Bullshit.
Shale was invisible to him, he stared past her, as if she were made of glass. But when she touched him, Kaius finally responded. He slapped her hand away. Taken aback, Shale retreated a few steps back. What was wrong with him? Waves of fear were rolling off him, his eyes huge and just staring at the girl. Kaius crouched down and buried his head in his arms. “I.. I don’t want to turn you into that thing too…” she heard him mutter, his voice cracking. Thing? What thing? The murmurings of the girl reminded Shale of her presence. That thing? Kaius obviously knew her, and her presence obviously tormented him.
As Kaius stayed frozen in place, Shale went to have a closer look at the girl. “…Who are you?” she whispered, as the girl continued to mutter nothings at nobody in particular. Shale tapped her on the shoulder. She was cold to the touch, and there was no response. Was what the girl became because of Kaius? She remembered that Apollo children could heal…but this was no where near healing. She realised she didn’t really know Kaius that much at all, actually. She looked through the book again, trying to get something out of the words, when Kaius spoke again.
“Just stay away from me…” his voice was strained, like he was battling a war in his head. Shale sighed, she was having none of that ‘leave me alone’ shit. Crouching down in front of her friend, Shale took a deep breath and spoke softly to him. “Kaius…Kaius, don’t tell me to stay away because that’s the last thing I will do. I want to help you, and if you’re not going to tell me what’s going on, I can’t, ok. I have no idea what’s happening, who that girl is, what you did in the past, but well, I’m ok, aren’t I? Whatever you did, or are afraid you did to me, it didn’t happen.” Shale gestured to herself. “I know you said that being alone is ok, but no, it isn’t ok all the time. Look, I’m here with you now, aren’t I? I’m here for a reason, and that’s to help you, but I can’t do that unless you look up and tell me what’s going on.” She ended firmly, hoping fervently that he would answer. The only way to save him from the agony that he seemed to be going through was to get him to open up. She held the book in front of her. “First off, what were you reading in here. Why were you speaking in Greek?”
