Growing up, Sunny's family moved around a lot due to his father's work. He was born in Seattle and has lived in Fallbrook, New York City, Boulder Colorado, and has recently moved back to Fallbrook.

They moved from NYC to Boulder because of his father’s work, but shortly after moving his father suffered a heart attack and died

Sunny spent a few years getting into trouble and acting out until the age of 19 when he finally got his act together and attended a trade school. He became an EMT paramedic at age 21

In 2017 he got into a bad accident while he was at work, when the ambulance he and his best friend Luke were in crashed. Sunny was injured but Luke was killed.

Took some time off to recover from his injuries and emotional trauma. After a year he tried to return to work but found it too difficult. He instead transferred to a smaller hospital in Boulder and found it much easier

Started dating his former co-worker and close friend, Ashlyn  in the spring of 2021, but because of her addiction, they had to end their relationship until she could recover in rehab treatment

He enjoys staying active. In Boulder, he did a lot of hiking, kayaking, biking, snowboarding and playing sports. He continues to work out at the gym and play tennis and softball. He enjoys going to the mountains in the winter for snowboarding

Has a labradoodle named Chazz, who he adopted from a friend who couldn't keep him.

“That’s why you are my favorite cousin,” he teased Sunny with a growing grin on his lips. “alright, we can see where the night takes us.” It was still crazy to Darius that his cousin was getting married. Since known Ashlyn, he had taken her in as part of the family. He had a soft spot for the woman since he first met her. “Ah, she is? Damn, next time then.” He told Darius, nodding his head, “I totally forgot about the renovations happening.” Daris wandered towards his car, “Flying Pig?” He suggested as an alternative.

“I won’t tell my sister you said that. Although I’m pretty sure she knows.” he smirked at his comment. Part of the reason Sunny had decided to move back to Fallbrook was because Darius and his Aunt were there. Familiar faces, at least. ‘Yeah, it’s gonna be great. I have a lot that I want to run by you.” he said. He was glad that his family was as excited for them as he was. Sunny knew it was hard for Ashlyn that her family didn’t seem to feel the same but all of them treated her like family already. “Yeah, I’m not sure how close they are to being done.” he stated as they mad their way to the car. “I think they’re hoping to be open by summer at least.” He nodded before opening the door. “You read my mind, cuz. I could go for one of their burgers right now.” He got into the passenger's side.

She nodded. “That’s what he wants, at least. We’ll see.” She said and smiled at him. He definitely calmed her down with the talk of the wedding and she knew this was the reason she went to him in the first place. “I will. I’ll look into seeing one.” She promised him and rubbed his hand. “Well, what if we did it differently? Surprised people with it. Marry in secret and have a party and surprise people?” She asked curiously as to what he’d think before pausing. “I hope they do. And by then, I don’t think I’ll want them around. I won’t want our kids to hurt like I do.” She said with a sigh. A grin crossed her face as he called her his sexy wife. “And my sexy husband.” She kissed him back and laughed. “That doesn’t matter. No one else matters but you.” She promised and moved as he did before they settled back down she grinned as he went to write their guest list. “Obviously my brother, Noah, Hannah from upstairs.” She said and looked at him. “Darius and your family, maybe Finn from work?”

“Yeah, I guess. Maybe some change isn’t such a bad thing.” Sunny shrugged. The town had changed very little from how he remembered it as a kid. He looked into her eyes nodding as he touched her cheek softly. “I think it would be good for you. I mean you can come to me any time, but I don’t always have the right answers.” he said. A smile grew on his face. “I love that. Look at you with the good ideas. This is why I’m marrying you.” he teased. “We could do something small in private and then show up to the reception, already married. But we can still have a cake and all that fun wedding stuff.” Originally Sunny had wanted to do something huge and fancy because he thought that Ashlyn deserved that but as they talked he realized that wasn’t either of their style. He started to write down the names. “Okay, great. What about Patrick? That guy who lives upstairs with the white scotty?” he paused to tell her. He figured since they were inviting neighbors they were close it wasn’t a bad idea. “I’m also inviting Jack from work and Maddox, Darius of course, and a couple of my other work friends. Maybe the whole hospital, I don’t know. I did invite a lot of people.” he admitted and chuckled.

Franny had ran to the cafe to get some lunch since it was slow and she didn’t feel like eating the chili one of the other guys made at the station. While she didn’t mind chili, she was more in a sandwich mood so she opted out to go to the Hilltop for her break. She was checking her phone, talking with Ruby at the daycare to see how her son was doing, when she felt someone tap her shoulder and she turned to see Sunny. “Speak for yourself.” She said and put her phone away. “True, but if you jinx us, I know where to point fingers.” Franny teased. “I’m good. How are you? And the beautiful fiance?”

Sunny gave a shrug, “Hey, there’s always time for food.” he said. Some days he barely had time to scarf down his lunch in the ambulance when he had a few moments, other days dragged on, and this was one of them. Sometimes he missed being in a busier city like Colorado but he knew he shouldn’t complain about the lack of people getting hurt. “Well, knock on wood, then.” he said wrapping his knuckles on the wall next to him. “She’s good. We’re getting pretty excited about the wedding. We’ve decided to bump the date up a little and maybe do something this summer.” he told her. “And don’t worry, you’ll definitely be invited. What about your wedding?” he asked, knowing the other had been engaged as well the last time he had talked to her.

Darius chuckled at his cousin’s words. “Not at all,” he nodded his head as he said he would fill him in on the engagement plans. “absolutely,” Darius didn’t have a preference on where that they went. “Listen, I’m not going to order a salad either,” he said as he put his bag into his locker. He would pick it back up later to take home, but didn’t need to bring it with him to the diner. “We can take my car over to the diner if you want and I’ll swing back around after,” he suggested to the man, putting the lock on the locker and shoving his car keys and wallet into his pockets.

Sunny was glad that his family was excited about his engagement and his wedding which was coming up faster than he had anticipated. A thought that made him both nervous and excited. “No judgement, man. I won’t tell if you don’t.” Sunny nodded. “Sure, sounds great. I’m in no hurry to get home. Ash is working late tonight.” he explained. “I’d suggest going there to eat, but she’s actually helping with the renovations. The diner has new owners and everything. You heard about that?” he looked up as he finished changing. It seemed to be the talk of the town, since everyone loved Maggie’s Diner. He followed him out of the locker room towards the parking lot.

“Something.” She smiled softly and leaned into the touch on her cheek. “We’ll figure it out. Maybe we could even do it on the beach. We don’t have to rent anything. Or maybe I can tall to Finn and we can get a deal on the restaurant.” She suggested before her face fell a little. “I know. I’m gonna keep working on it.” She said and her heart ached as he said she didn’t deserve to be treated the way she had been by her family. “I just don’t know what I did to make them hate me like this.” She said and her eyes lined with tears. “I know you support me and are proud of me. That means more to me than you’ll ever know.” She said and leaned her head against him as he kissed her head. If this was how things were going to be, she wasn’t going to speak with her family anymore. She wanted them to support her more than anything, but if this was how things were going to be, she was going to have to write them off. “I’m so lucky to have you, Sunny.” She said softly and shook her head. “No, I don’t care about that. I just want to be married to you.”

Sunny nodded. “The beach would be nice. And yeah, that sounds good, too. I’ve heard people talking about the new restaurant. Apparently it’s going to be pretty classy.” he smiled and rubbed her cheek. “We’ll do whatever we need to do. I think maybe talking to an counselor about your family could be helpful as well.” Sunny did his best to give her the support she deserved but he knew that it wouldn’t make up for the years her family had turned their backs on her. He hated that they made her feel this way. “We’ll have your brother there at least. We don’t need to have the guests sit in a bride or groom section, either. You’re going to be part of my family.”  he smirked before a small sigh escaped him. “One day your family is going to regret being this way. When we have kids and they don’t even know them.” He smiled a little at the thought of starting a family with her. Something he was realizing he wanted more and more. His smile grew when she said she wanted to be married to him. “I want that, too. My sexy wife.” he smiled kissing her lips. “I gotta hurry up and get you married so no guys can hit on you.” He joked before straighting up. He reached into the drawer in the small table by the couch digging around until he found some scrap paper and a pen. “Okay, so guest list. I’m going to have to remember who all I’ve invited so far, because there’s been a lot.” he chuckled. “Who do you want to invite?” he asked.

He was a little bit in the past when it came to Ashlyn's struggles with addiction and wanted to believe it wasn't something they were going to have to worry about in the future. But he sees the error in his ways now.

That things are going to work out and he shouldn't worry about the future so much. Also that he does amazing work because he often beats himself up over the times he hasn't been able to save/help people who needed it both at work and outside of work.

He still has remorse for the accident that caused the death of his best friend and the fact that it was supposed to be him driving the ambulance that crashed, but not so much regret anymore.

She nodded. “We will. We can today. I don’t mind.” Maybe the distraction would help, but she knew he just wanted her calmed down before they went into wedding planning; especially because there wasn’t going to be too many people on her side. Ashlyn leaned into his touch and she looked into his eyes. “I want to better too. It’s just harder than I realized, you know? I’m getting married and we’re planning this future and I hoped my family would be part of that and they’re still treating me like I’m not important.” She closed her eyes as they rested their foreheads together before kissing him back again. “No.” She shook her head. “Don’t do that. I know we’re both working to save money for our life together. None of this is about you. You are the light of life, the sun that pushed away my darkness. No matter what, you still do that. Even if the shadows try to come back, you help get they away. Don’t put any of this on yourself.” She touched his cheek. “A potluck sounds nice, though.”

“Okay.” he agreed. “We can figure out how many people will be coming to the party. We could probably rent a space, maybe have a DJ or a band.” he said smiling a little, thinking of how much fun they would have celebrating their special day. His smile faded and he touched her cheek. “I know. You’ve been doing so good so far, but things aren’t always going to be smooth sailing.” he lowered his hand listening as she talked about her family. It was true that it felt off not having all of her family members happy for them, like they should be. “You don’t deserve to be treated this way, you know?” he said putting his hand over hers. “I know that you haven’t always had the support that you needed, but I support you and I always will.” he assured her. “I told you I was proud of you when you first started, and I’m still proud of you now.” he leaned forward planting a kiss on her head. He smiled hearing her tell him that he was the sun in her life, despite him feeling bad for not being there as much as he could have. It was just hard because he knew it was going to be expensive. His didn’t have his dad to help out and his mom would probably help as much as she could but he knew she didn’t have much. And as for her family, well that seemed out of the question to even ask. But he was sure they would make it work. “Yeah. I know it’s not as formal, but... we could always save that for our fiftith anniversary or something.” he said with a smirk. “We could also do something outside, maybe? If the weather is nice by then.” he shrugged.

“I know.” She said with a smile. If it wasn’t for his mother, she would’ve preferred going the whole eloping route, but she wanted her to have the experience of all this. She sent ideas to her and honest, Ashlyn needed to start making decisions with Sunny. “A small wedding and a bigger reception. I like it.” She grinned as he suggested June first. “Two months. Sounds like a plan. Now to just getting invitations out and such.” She said kissed him back before her face fell. “Maybe. I’ll talk to Noah about it when I see him next.” She looked down. “I’m sorry I’m not as good as we thought.”

Sunny smiled, glad that she was on board with his idea. “Yeah, we’ll take care of all that. We’ll have to sit down and figure out who we’re inviting. But it doesn’t have to be today.” he added, not wanting to pressure her right now. His heart sank a little with her words and he touched her cheek, shaking his head. “Baby, don’t say that. I know that it’s not your fault, alright? I do want you to get better though. If we’re going to start a life together, because that’s what I want more than anything. I want to make sure you’re healthy if we have kids and all of that fun stuff.” he smiled as he rested his forehead head against hers and kissed her once more. He let out a sigh as he pulled away and gave a shrug. “Maybe I should have been around more.” it was hard sometimes with both of them having busy work schedules. “I just took a lot of shifts because I knew that we have the wedding to pay for. But maybe we can cut down on the costs. Instead of doing catering we could have a potluck,” he suggested

The idea of someone sifting through another person’s laundry didn’t seem too far fetched but it still made Trevor’s skin crawl. Yet another reason he didn’t mind paying a little extra to rent a crummy house instead of apartment. “That’s disturbing. My landlord says if I want machines in my house, I gotta pay for them.” He shook his head in disgust. “I got the on call shift. Figured I might as well do something instead of wasting my time at home waiting for a call.”

He and Ashlyn were happy with the small space they had for now, but the day would come when they wanted their own space that they didn’t have to share. “Yeah, those aren’t the worst shifts.
