I've got a new room-mate, it seems!
Oh! That would be me.
Awesome! Hi!
I'm Alice.
I'm New Here // Roger & Alice
Finally, after trudging along aimlessly for who-knows how long, he was getting some help. He couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across his face as he reached down and picked up his bag once more.
"Thanks! That’d be a big help," he told her happily. "I should probably take that guided tour, just so I don’t get lost again tomorrow." He laughed as he hoisted the bag over his shoulder. Knowing himself though, he’d be getting mixed up direction-wise for the next week or so. "I’m Roger, by the way."
"Hey, no problem at all. I was new not that long ago too, so I feel your pain," she joked. "Roger? That's a nice name," she smiled. "So, have you eaten anything in a while? Because if not, then we can totally grab you some before we start - the food's great there."
As she waited for his reply, she began mentally planning out a route. Probably best - if they were headed that way - to start at the train, grab some food and then head round in a circle. She hoped he was a chatty kind of guy, or else this would just be boring.
I'm New Here // Roger & Alice
Roger fumbled with his bag, umbrella in one hand and zipper in the other, as he attempted to get a compartment on it open. He could have sworn he’d written down instructions or something… then again, he might have been mistaken.
Pausing in mid-fumble, he glanced up at the sound of an unfamiliar voice and quickly spotted the girl approaching him. Quickly dropping the bag, he stood straighter and laughed with embarrassment.
"Me? Oh yeah, I’m fine. You’re right about the lost part though. I can’t seem to work out where anything is! I know that’s the big top," he pointed towards the massive tent that poked up over the shorter structures. "And that’s a ferris wheel," he gestured to the large ride with his thumb. "But that’s as far as I’ve gotten."
"Well, you got the main attractions down, so that's a start. It takes a while, but afterwards it gets a little easier to tell what tent holds what particular attraction. It's a lot easier when it's open, I have to admit, when they're trying to drag people in to the different tents." She shrugged.
"So, yeah... you looking for anywhere in particular? Or just a general guided tour? Cause I could probably help you out with both," she smiled again. He seemed like a pretty nice guy, kinda cute too... she paused for a second, hoping that she didn't say that out loud. Nope, all was good.
I've got a new room-mate, it seems!
So, uh, who's Ducky?
I'm New Here // Open
The carnivals he had been to as a kid where nowhere near as big as this place. On one hand, that was a good thing. Once he got to know his way around, and got a good feel for everything, there would be a ton more things to do. On the other hand… he actually had to get to know his way around first.
Roger carried his duffle bag and umbrella through the grounds, pausing once he realized he was completely and utterly lost. He set the bag down by his feet and reached up to scratch his head in confusion.
He knew where he wanted to be, but actually finding that place was a different story altogether.
Alice was on her way back to her car when she saw the guy standing around looking completely confused. He wasn't a familiar face, so he was either a newbie or a customer. Considering she was pretty sure they hadn't opened yet, she figured it was the former. Especially with the duffel bag.
She turned on her heels and began to walk over to him. Better that he meets one of the friendlier people first, she thought, although there wasn't any guarantee that he'd be in the same category.
"Excuse me? Are you alright? You're looking a little lost..." she began when she got over to him.
I haven't not talked to anyone for this long ever
Well, that's gotta change. Barrel, right? How's it going?
Night Wanderer || Aster & Alice
He nodded, shrugging slightly. “Yeah yeah, I’m old, I know.” He laughed slightly. “But it was a good job. And it wasn’t like I was in the same place all the time. I got moved around from station to station every now and then. The scenery changed up quite a bit.” He raised his eyebrows a bit at the angelic look, but grinned anyway, hands on his hips.
"That’s the spirit. I know most people don’t take much interest in this sort of thing, but." He shrugged. It was something he thought was intriguing. So many name meanings, and stories to be told through them. The idea that your name was likely once shared by a famous being was fascinating to him. Well, maybe not specifically in relation to him. No famous philosophers were named Aster.
He nods. “Not much to look out for here though, is there? It’s all industrialized and incorporated and bah. Maybe I’ve just lived in the parks too long. Used to diverse scenery with a surprise every day.” He glanced around the lot. “Very good point. I haven’t even seen a full show yet.”
"It doesn't necessarily mean old," she smiled. "My sister's pretty much been teaching for ten years, especially if you count the tutoring stuff she did, and she's not even thirty yet. Anyway, you're only as old as you feel, or so they say." She shrugged, and made it more exaggerated with the raised eyebrows.
"Interesting's good. I like interesting - the more of it, the better." He was actually getting her kind of intrigued with the name meanings stuff. "Do, uh, do names tend to fit the person then, even if they're not... named for the meaning?" She laughed. "That probably made no sense whatsoever!"
"This bit's industrialized, yeah, and to be honest, most places we go will be - it's where the money's at. But, I guess if you got a day off or something, you could go to the outskirts of a place. Rent a car or something, I don't know. But even then, there's still some beauty in the cities. You haven't seen a full show? Well, that's definitely got to change You should sneak in to tents... pretend you're keeping an eye on a suspicious individual or something!" She could just imagine that - Aster going full on covert-spy just to see something like the tumblers.

-shrugs- I dunno. I suck at naming things. I named my own brother Panic. You really want me to name your cat?
You named your brother? Well, as far as names go - that's a pretty awesome one. Like yours. If my sister named me, she probably would have come up with something as boring as Alice, like Jane or whatever.
So, yeah, go ahead. I'd love to hear what you come up with -smiling-
I'm so booooooooooooooooored.
What d’you mean that’s it? My job is fucking awesome, not boring.
What do you do that’s so great, huuuuuh?
I never said your job was boring, just the fact that all you seem to do is run and work... actually, make that just run, seeing as that's what you do for a job, isn't it? I take tickets for the funhouse - not particularly exciting, but I've known that right from the start. However, I do stuff outside of that.

She’s so fluffy!!!
I know, she’s so cute!
What do you think you’ll name her?
I don't know... what do you think would be a good name for her?
I'm so booooooooooooooooored.
-she shakes her head- nope, not me. So anyway, you do anything else other than run?
I work in the Globe of Death in the Big Top. [he nods, presuming she’ll be impressed] I know, it’s awesome.
So... that's it. Don't get me wrong, the Globe of Death sounds pretty cool but... that's all you do? Run, and work?
That sounds pretty boring to me.
I'm so booooooooooooooooored.
-smiling- Hey, I am not lazy! I do stuff… just not running. It’s really not my thing.
Laaaaaaaazy! [he laughs] Lazy, lazy ass.
-she shakes her head- nope, not me. So anyway, you do anything else other than run?
I'm so booooooooooooooooored.
Ah, see, I would but I only run when I need to.
Who’d run by choice?
Whadda you mean, who’d run by choice? Everyone should run by choice. If not then it means you’re a lazy ass.
-smiling- Hey, I am not lazy! I do stuff... just not running. It's really not my thing.
Twinkle Toes | Kronk & Alice
Kronk laughed at the thought of everyone joining in - a musical in the streets around them, like something out of a movie. “That would be brilliant!” He couldn’t stop chuckling at the mere idea of it. “Dancing all around the lamp posts and on the benches and all of that would just be great. I think that people would just stare at us and think we were a little bit crazy though, don’t you think?” He turned to look at her with the same expression on his face as before - the cheeky smile that always stayed.
"Ahhh," he nodded, "I have heard of those but I have never learned any of them. They are very…" he paused to think of the right word, "full of many skills? I do not know the right word for it." He laughed a little and blushed. "But all the same, I do not blame you for not wanting to learn them."
"There are some holidays that we celebrate them on, but sometimes we just like to have a celebration. Carnival is the most famous one I think, but that is always celebrated in Brazil. Me and my family usually travelled over to take part in it." He smiled nostalgically, thinking of all of the fun times he’d had with his family in the past.
"Do you celebrate many holidays in England?" He asked as they walked further into town.
Just the mental image sent Alice into peals of laughter. "Oh dear God yes, that would be perfect!" She seriously hoped she would never forget the image of stereotypical Texans (aka cowboys) dancing around on the benches and swinging around lamp posts, with a cheesy song playing in the background. She looked back at Kronk and caught the cheeky smile. She really liked that smile; it suited him a lot.
"You mean skilful? Yeah, I guess they were." She shrugged. "Well, that's good then," she joked. "I wouldn't go anywhere near them now, God no. Imagine that! Me in a leotard or something, prancing around like some... some little fairy princess!" She laughed at the thought. No, that was definitely something that would stay in the past.
"That's pretty cool, having a party just for the sake of it. Makes everything seem kinda happier, in a way, I guess," Alice nodded. "Brazil, huh? I'd better add that to the list of places to see, then."
"Erm, kind of. Not really much in the way of big-arse celebrations - that's Christmas and Easter, mainly. There's normally something for the New Year as well. One time, when I was a little kid, my parents took me and my sister to the celebrations in London. We even got on the television too - just a small shot, but apparently my gran saw it. Then we have things we call holidays but really are just days to laze about. Like bank holidays. It's just an excuse not to go in to work or school. Not that I was complaining when they happened - I loved an excuse to not go to school."
I'm so booooooooooooooooored.
Anyone wanna race?
Ah, see, I would but I only run when I need to.
Who'd run by choice?
Well..
it turns out, I don’t know many people here yet. Introductions are in order, I guess.
Name’s Hades, head of HR and at your service for all of y’er…oh so important desires.
Hades? That's an unusual name. Cool - I'm Alice.
Head of HR? That must be an interesting job.
