his thumb scrolling through the relatively short article about lucas winters, daniel read it the way he would read a textbook. he highly doubted that the aces had anything to do with the death of a 212 member, mostly because they would never target someone at the bottom of the food chain. it would’ve made more sense to place a hit on adrian. an eye for an eye. a leader for a leader. “you hear what happened? tragic, isn’t it? just reached the legal drinking age.” there was no hint of sorrow in his voice. in fact, he was rather apathetic.
sitting across from the other male, his head sprung up as he heard his words flow out towards him, knowing instantly who and what he was talking about. and as much as he still couldn’t believe that lucas was gone, and it was eating him up inside, he didn’t want to show that in front of the other boy. he didn’t need him seeing him feeling weak. “i’m pretty sure the fact that he can’t go to a bar legally isn’t the saddest thing about that story, man. a kid is dead. you could only imagine what his family is going through,” he said, immediately envisioning the other 212 members.

after a shift that seemed like it had lasted days on end, there was nothing don wanted to do more than have a drink. or FIVE. and so he found himself in a crowded bar on a saturday night, steadfastly ignoring the giggling group of girls to his left in favor of staring down into his old fashioned like it contained the answer to the meaning of life. he downed the last of his drink before signaling the bartender for another. he moved to turn around and face the noisy crowd in the bar, but as he did so, he bumped into someone coming toward the bar. “ sorry, ” he said, more out of habit than sincerity, not really looking at the person’s face.
iverson didn’t usually go to bars alone. he really wasn’t even supposed to be in a bar alone tonight either. he had only run in to use the washroom, even running through a whole speech to the bouncer as to why he didn’t have his I.D. on him, and that he super pinky promised to be in and out within three minutes. which was why he wasn’t truly paying attention while he whipped past people on his way out of there, eventually colliding straight into another person, the apology flooding out of his lips instantly. “oh my god, i’m so sorry, i wasn’t paying attention to where i was going,” he said, looking up towards the man. “i didn’t spill anything on you, did i?”

She was quite the mature young lady, said no one ever. It was evident that she had to of been the most immature adult that walked to face of the earth. She was using an etch-a-sketch to express her emotions throughout the day, very professional. “Look I drew Bart Simpson flipping the bird.”
iverson wasn’t exactly sure WHO the girl had been talking to, before he had seen the red children’s toy being held up towards him. “wow,” he said, tilting his head slightly to examine the drawing. “that’s so.. — where did you learn to do that?”

curls fluttered in the neon lights, as head turned to glance over her shoulder every few seconds. she hated parties but somehow one of her fellow gang members had dragged her away from the dark room where she was tapping away on her laptop. sobriety had been broken and now she was on edge, pushing through the sea of people to swipe another glass of murky liquid off the countertop. edging her way past the dj booth she stopped abruptly, head spinning as she reached out to the wall for support. breathing became harder as the brunette glanced over her shoulder. “fuck, i gotta get out of here.”
iverson was never the biggest party animal, but he also wasn’t the biggest loner known to mankind. no, when it came to having a good time, he was all for it, even if he did hate feeling slightly overwhelmed from being surrounded by so many unknown faces. still, with a few drinks, some of his favourite tunes, and a whole lot of mental pep talks, he wasn’t having a half bad of a time. yet from the looks of it, he couldn’t say that sloane had been feeling the same as he had. he watched as she leaned against the wall, making his way over to her as she glanced over her shoulder. silent words came out of her lips as the music from the speakers drowned her out before he tried to speak back to her. “what was that?” he yelled, a look of concern and confusion on his face as he tried to be louder than this unfamiliar song. “are you okay? do you need to get out of here or something?”
