Brim
Tim groans as he slams Brian's truck door shut behind him. Brian follows suit, looking exhausted. The stars and moon above are covered by heavy, dark clouds, hinting at a coming storm, keeping the manor yard in pitch black darkness.
"That was brutal." Brian croaks.
Tim nods, opening the back door, grabbing their bags. He tosses Brian's over to him, slinging his duffle bag of his shoulder.
"Wanna watch a movie and just eat like soup or something?" Brian groans.
Tim nods, "I wanna sleep to."
Brian laughs a little. He walks over, tugging Tim into a hug.
"God damn, me too sugarstick. Me too." Brian rumbles
Tim hugs Brian back, swaying lightly. Brian rubs his back, letting him rest in his arms. And owl calls out, its hoot lonely and quiet in the darkness, followed by no response.
"I want our bed so badly..." Tim mumbles into Brian's chest.
"C'mon babe, it's okay. We can get you some Advil for your leg then we can rest." Brian whispers.
Tim nods and stumbles to a walk as Brian softly tugs him along towards the dim lights of the manor.
"Can we watch something we've already watched?" Tim croaks.
Brian hums, "Of course, Tim."
Brian's boots thud heavily against the wooden steps of the porch. Tim's work boots are caked in snow. Tim sits down on the bench under the living room window heavily, groaning while Brian rummages for his keys in his pockets. He pulls them out, clumsily shoving the key into the lock blindly and turning.
"God it's so dark, c'mon Tim. Lets get inside. It's cold as shit out here." Brian grumbles, pushing the door open.
Tim grunts in pain as Brian tugs him to his feet, walking them both inside, kicking the door shut behind him with the heel of his boot, locking it.
"I think the running made my leg flair up." Tim growls.
Brian grunts.
"Yeah, I can imagine. Those cops did not let up." Brian mutters, sounding a little pissed.
Tim glances over, but decides not to mention it. Brian goes into the kitchen, dropping his backpack on the floor next to the counter. Tim follows behind slowly.
"No, baby, you go up to the room. I'll make us something to eat, gimme your bag." Brian says softly, tugging Tim's duffle bag away from him, setting it down on the floor next to his backpack.
"Thank you, Brian. Thank you so much." Tim rasps, kissing Brian on the cheek repeatedly.
Brian smiles cheekily.
"Mmm, love you to pumpkin, and of course." Brian rumbles, kissing Tim's forehead softly.
Tim smiles and leaves the kitchen, making his way to the room. Brian grabs two bowls and two bowls or broccoli and cheese soup. He tugs the tap, opening them, pouring the contents of the cans into their bowls. He microwaves his first, standing there with his arms crossed, waiting for the beep. Then Tim's. He picks up their bags, putting his backpack on properly, holding Tim's duffle back on his shoulder before putting spoons into the bowls, picking them both up.
Brian leaves the kitchen, hurrying upstairs, trying not to spill the soup. Soon he nudges the bedroom door open which Tim thankfully left cracked. He nudges the door closed, setting the bowls down on the bedside table. He drops their bags to the floor, kicking them under the bed for now. He looks around, eyes drifting to the bathroom, the shower is running, the door is open, steam spilling out. Brian smiles, tugging his hoodie and black tank top off. He then kicks off his boots and jeans, flopping into bed comfortably.
"Oh holy fuck that feels so good." Brian groans, sliding further into the bed.
Soon Tim comes out, in a fresh tee shirt and sweatpants. He looks over and sighs.
"No shower, seriously?" Tim snorts.
Brian grins, "I was waiting for you darling. In all my dirty sweaty glory!"
Tim laughs quite hard, throwing his head back.
"Oh my goodness, I love you. But I don't love you enough to sleep with you when you're sweaty." Tim teases,
Brian huffs, standing up, "You've done it before."
Tim frowns, looking confused while Brian strides off to the bathroom.
"No I haven't. I've never let you sleep in the bed when you're gross after a missio-OH! Brian! You're fucking disgusting, that is different!" Tim scolds, turning over to the closing the bathroom door while Brian cracks up.
Tim sighs, lying down in the bed with a smile. He grabs his soup, gratefully gulping it down despite it scalding the back of his throat. God, what would he do without Brian. Tim pauses, remembering before he came back. He shakes his head, sighing.
"No sad thoughts, he's here now. And now its fine." Tim mumbles.
He gets comfortable, grabbing the remote and turning the TV on, trying to find a movie he wouldn't mind rewatching. He looks up once Brian comes out, drying his hair, in fresh sweatpants. They've gotten so used to quick showers. Goodness. Brian walks over, flopping into the bed once again. He turns over, resting his head in his hand, watching Tim.
"May you hand me my soup?" Brian croaks.
Tim nods, setting his soup in his lap, handing Brian his. Brian gets comfortable under the blanket, scooting closer to Tim, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. Tim smiles, leaning into Brian, sipping his soup while he puts on The Dark Knight.
"This is nice." Tim mumbles.
Brian nods, scarfing down his soup, setting the empty bowl aside. Tim smiles, watching as Brian lays down comfortably, resting his head in Tim's lap. Tim finishes his soup, setting it aside, lying down to, his head drifting to Brian's scalp, scratching lightly. Tim glances to the window as thunder finally starts to make itself heard. He hums, eyes already starting to drift shut while Brian starts to snore. They're so exhausted.
TicciJack
Toby sighs as Jack tightly wraps bandages around the giant gash in his arm, the light buzzing of the florescent lights of Jack's personal clinic combined with the smell of that harsh sterilizer Jack uses is making his head spin.
"Now, how did this happen again? I couldn't quite make anything out over Timothy's panicking." Jack rumbles lowly, the tar on his mask glinting in the lights.
"...I uh...I tripped in the abandoned hospital about 2 miles North from the cliff that leads down into the lake, you know, the one were you found like 12,000 dollars worth of medicine, sliced my arm open some exposed rebar" Toby says quickly, watching as Jack walks off to grab something.
Toby tilts his head a little, grinning a bit.
"Damn, you're fine." Toby snorts.
Jack pauses, turning around with the vial and needle, tetanus shot.
"Excuse me?" Jack rumbles, standing there silently.
Toby pauses, getting a little rosy in his nose and cheeks. Jack tilts his head, looking very amused, maybe, kinda hard to tell with the mask. Or at least one can only assume by the way his shoulders are shaking trying to fight back laughter.
"I-I mean...you...are a very..conventionally attractive man." Toby mumbles, looking at his shoes.
Jack nods, walking over, tugging his mayo tray along with him, setting the vial down once he gets over there. Toby watches his hands move, his face feeling increasingly odd as he gets redder and redder thinking about how badly he just fumbled. Jack obviously knows Toby is freaking out. Hell. He can smell blood pressure changes. Or was it hear? Toby can't remember.
'This is so fucking embarrassing.'
Jack pats the syringe lightly, bringing the air bubbles to the top before pushing it out. Toby's eyes drift to his claws. Long, sharp black nails with a razor sharp tip that could probably do more damage than the rebar. Toby reaches down, messing with his fresh bandages while Jack rubs an alcohol wipe on Toby's arm. Jack growls a little.
"Don't touch that." Jack huffs, slapping Toby's hand away from his bandages, bring the needle up to his arm.
Toby yanks his hand away and looks at the needle sliding into his arm carefully. Jack tilts his head up a little to face Toby. Toby tightens up. Its always eerie seeing past the shadows that usually cast in the holes of his mask, hiding his eyes. Or..well, lack of. Empty sockets stare back, leaking thick black tar slowly. Jack's eyelids awkwardly narrow a bit, skin collapsing into his sockets and Toby abruptly looks away. Jeez he hopes Jack didn't notice that.
"..Done." Jack mutters, standing up fully slowly as he tosses the syringe into his large sharps container.
Toby stands up slowly, rubbing his bandaged arm. While Jack attempts to put a band-aid on Toby's arm, giving up since Toby isn't even noticing and won't quit moving. Jack stands there with the bandaid for a moment before sighing and throwing it away.
"Thanks man. Sorry for getting injured again." Toby sighs.
Jack hums, throwing the vial in to. He shakes his head, shoving the mayo tray away, letting it roll till it thunks against the counter across from the beds.
"Don't apologize, I enjoy your company. Just wish your company did not come with a broken bone or something." Jack hums.
Toby nods, hugging himself as he starts walking towards the door.
"Tobias." Jack calls calmly.
Toby looks over, hoping desperately Jack doesn't mention it.
"Y-Yeah?" Toby asks cautiously, stepping back a bit.
Jack is writing something down in a notebook, neatly ripping out the page. How does he even write? Toby doesn't question this sorta shit at this point. Jack opens a drawer with the manor resident files, tugging out Toby's file. Its thick, and looks heavy, a couple notes spilling out. Jack sighs, crouching down to pick them up, he shoves everything back in along with the new paper. Quickly shoving the folder back in the filing cabinet before things start spilling out again. Toby smiles a little despite himself, laughing a bit.
"Ridiculous. Goodness." Jack mutters before turning to face Toby, crossing his arms, the sleeves of his grey sweater wrinkling as he does so, leaning back against the counter, "I think you are attractive to."
Toby feels his heart leap into his throat. He grins awkwardly, tilting his head a bit, his bangs drifting into his eyes.
"A-Aren't you blind?" Toby snorts.
Jack nods a little, shifting his weight onto his other foot heavily, the rivets on the back of his jeans scraping against the counter a bit as his hips juts out a bit. He looks so fucking sassy all the time Jesus.
"Yes. But attractiveness will not always be visible I suppose." Jack rumbles. "Yes, attractiveness is not always form."
He is quiet for a moment, looking thoughtful as he closes the filing cabinet with a light tap of his index finger. Toby starts laughing nervously, he just moves so calmly. Like nothing can scare him. There is a certain kind of comfort in that that makes Toby's head spin.
"Oh...well..thank you." Toby says quietly, tugging the hem of his shirt down, wringing the fabric in his hands.
"Yes of course. Now shoo with you. You need rest. You've been working yourself to the bone." Jack mutters, preparing something for one of the other residents.
Toby sighs, "Mkay. Uh, see you."
Jack nods and Toby starts walking out. Jack waits quietly till the door closes behind Toby before letting out a low, confused groan.
"That idiot. God he's so dumb, its so cute it hurts!" Jack grumbles, slipping his mask off so he can start rubbing his face, large canines glinting as he snarls in frustration.
Jack relaxes after a moment, grumbling a little, pushing his mask back on and collecting himself, sliding his hands down his front, fixing his shirt, before brushing his hair out his face, sighing.
"...What was that joke Nina told me. Morosexual. Yeah. Yeah I'm that. He's a fucking idiot." Jack huffs, getting back to work.
Vinbit
Vinny is sitting quietly in the kitchen, at the kitchen counter with his desk chair, messily writing down stuff in a notebook, surrounded by papers. Habit is lounging on the kitchen counter, eating a sandwich, watching Vinny work.
"Man...I bet the IRS hates you." Habit snorts.
Vinny glances over at Habit over his glasses, sighing.
"They wouldn't hate me if you stopped using my credit card to buy random shit." Vinny mumbles.
Habit shrugs, looking up at the ceilings. Vinny continues on, the soft click of the buttons on his calculator weirdly rhythmic. Habit sighs, sitting up and sliding off the counter.
"I'm bored." Habit says, walking over to hover on Vinny's shoulder.
Vinny nods, not answering as he gives his papers a deeply confused look, crossing something out.
"Vinny." Habit grumbles.
Vinny hums a little, nodding again. Habit frowns, staring daggers into the back of Vinny's head.
"Vincent." Habit snaps.
Vinny jolts up and looks up at Habit, terrified already. Habit smiles.
"Well trained rabbit. Now. Are you gonna stop ignoring me?" Habit snarls.
Vinny shakes his head. Habit hums, leaning against chair.
"I'm bored." Habit sighs dramatically.
Vinny sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"And what exactly do you expect of me right now? I can't read your mind." Vinny mutters.
Habit glares at him for a moment before standing up straight, drifting over to stands next to Vinny, shoving all his stuff off the counter.
"Hey! I need to do those Habit!" Vinny huffs, moving to pick everything up.
Habit reaches out, grabbing the back of Vinny's color, yanking him back up. Vinny deflates, staring at Habit irritably.
"Entertain me!" Habit hums, resting his elbows on the counter and his head in his hands.
Vinny grumbles, already feeling the headache starting in his temples. He stares at Habit for a moment.
"How, exactly? You're particularly picky." Vinny says, voice a tad snide.
Habit tilts his head a little, snorting.
"Hm...I wanna watch you eat a raw deer." Habit purrs.
Vinny pauses, rolling away from Habit a bit. Habit sneers, rolling his eyes.
"Oh, yeah, right on your high horse, voyeur." Habit mutters.
Vinny's brows furrow and he rolls his eyes.
"Fuck you, I'm not being pretentious, I just think that's fucking disgusting." Vinny snaps.
Habit seems to think about it for a moment.
"What if everything was boiled?" Habit rasps.
Vinny gives Habit a disgusted look and Habit lets out a very dramatic groan.
"You're soooo boring!!!" Habit whines.
Vinny sits there, crossing his arms, waiting for Habit to wrap it up.
"Wanna get high, eat pizza and play COD instead?" Habit mumbles.
Vinny hums before shrugging, "If you're paying."
Habit nods, starting to go upstairs to get his bong. Vinny sighs, putting together his papers and supplies neatly.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll pay! Just promise me you'll let me make a cave!" Habit calls.
Vinny groans, thats such a big mess though. They have to put the TV and the console in the weird blanket igloo situation Habit somehow creates every time. He brings out a small tent and piles blankets from all over the house over top till its pitch black inside, then puts weighted blankets down on the floor and pillows around the edge on the inside. Its hot, and dark, and akward.
"Can we not?" Vinny calls.
Habit comes back in, holding his bong, setting it down and grabbing some water bottles.
"Then you're paying." Habit snickers.
Vinny groans, "Fine, fine, you can have your fucking suffocation cave."
Habit whispers a little 'yeeeesssss', rushing off to go find the tent. Vinny sighs, grabbing the landline. Well. At least Habit is nice when they do this. Then again he also wraps himself around Vinny like a fucking cobra while they're sleeping in that oven, but at least Habit is being nice. Vinny groans as hears a crash from the living room.
"Habit!!! Be careful!" Vinny calls, returning to the phone, "Uh, yeah, our usual Dan."
Vinny groans, is it bad that the local pizza places knows Vinny by name? They must think he eats enough pizza to kill a horse. In reality Vinny has like four slices of that. Habit eats it all. He eats like he's on death row.
"Six large meat lovers pizzas with two one liter bottles of coke?" Dan asks boredly.
Vinny huffs, he doesn't want to be reminded, "Yes...yes Dan. Our usual."
There was a little grunt and Vinny rubs his temple, he needs Advil, or, well, weed. Vinny grins, looking over at the bong. Yay.
"Alright, should be there soon, bye Vinny." Dan mutters.
Vinny nods, hanging up, grateful for that to be over. He sighs, picking up the supplies and taking them into the living room where Habit is already finished. He's currently tugging the X-Box and the TV in.
"Vinny, c'mon, its nice and cozy. Is the pizza coming?" Habit says excitedly.
Vinny slips into the tent, jeez he's already suffocating and the fucking flap is open.
"Yep..cozy. And yeah, the pizza is coming." Vinny grunts, sitting down.
Habit flops onto the blankets, groaning happily.
"So warm, c'mere. Waiting for the pizza." Habit grumbles, wriggling over.
Vinny attempts to scoot away but Habit is already dragging him back, practically slamming him against the blankets. Vinny lets out an exhausted grumble while Habit wraps himself around him comfortably.
"My bunbun." Habit snorts.
Vinny grimaces, "Ew, don't call me that. I hate that."
Habit shrugs. He tugs over a couple weighted blankets, oh yeah, those. Its like thirty pounds all together. Habit sighs once he gets all three over the top of them. Vinny lays there awkwardly, staring at the ceiling of the tent.
"Habit, how am I supposed to get out when the pizza gets here?" Vinny asks.
Habit smiles, snickering already before he even says anything. Vinny stares, preparing himself. Habit sits up, placing a finger against Vinny's lips.
"Shhh, princess, let me get it for you." Habit whispers.
Vinny lurches away, horrified. Habit frowns, giving Vinny a irritated look.
"Ew, what the fuck. That's worse than bunbun." Vinny laughs nervously.
Habit huffs, rolling his eyes, tugging Vinny back.
"Whatever, rabbit. Fucking prick." Habit snaps.
Vinny sighs, attempting to get comfortable while Habit starts to boot up the XBox, handing Vinny a controller. Vinny takes it, curling up while Habit rambles on about all the guns. Vinny barely listens, catching bits and peices while he sets his controller down, grabbing the bong and the other stuff, scraping the dab out carefully. Habit looks over, grinning widely while Vinny picks up the lighter, bringing it to the cup.
"Ooooo, yaaaaaay, gimme!" Habit says excitedly.
Vinny laughs lightly, bringing it to his lips, taking a hit. He exhales slowly, feeling the burn rise into his chest. He hands it over to Habit, starting to hack his lungs up.
"Holy fucking shit, that's harsh." Vinny wheezes, leaning forward, coughing loudly.
Habit shrugs, handing it back to Vinny, exhaling smoke rings. Vinny watches, his face feeling warm and fuzzy.
"Damn...how do you do that without choking?" Vinny laughs.
Habit shrugs, exhaling the remaining vapor with a huff.
"I've been smoking weed since that shit was discovered Vinny. I'm a die hard stoner. The gods of natured have gifted you humans the magic plants that make you see shit or feel weird and you ban it, weirdos." Habit mutters.
Vinny rolls his eyes, taking another hit. All he needs is two, he a fucking light weight. He hands it back to Habit.
"'Nough for me." Vinny wheezes.
Habit nods, taking a giant hit.Vinny looks around.
"Oh my goodness we're gonna hotbox the tent Habit. Chill." Vinny laughs.
Habit grins, leaning back, getting closer to Vinny.
"Nah, we're gonna be sleeping in smoke, bun." Habit laughs lazily.
Vinny snorts, as Habit nuzzles into his neck roughly.
"Habit, Jesus, calm down." Vinny snorts, leaning his head back a little, letting Habit rest his cheek in the crook of Vinny's neck.
Habit shakes his head and Vinny hums, picking his controller back up while Habit starts to game. Yeah, its nice when Habit is nice.
crazy how jay’s defining character trait in rosswood isn’t his insatiable curiosity but his attachment to alex. which is so equally intense that he passively allows both of them to be pulled deeper and deeper into danger as long as alex gets his way. to the extent that jay’s dying fear is losing alex again. and the primary tool the operator uses to keep jay trapped is literally the sound of alex’s voice. which means nothing, probably.
Okay, so I saw some art of fem Jay a couple days ago and it inspired me to finally sit down and draw Jay from Sorry, It's Locked in a sort of "What Could Have Been" piece of art showing how he'd have progressed if he didn't die in entry 80. It got me to figure out what her name would probably have ended up being, too, and I've settled on Lark.
Specifically, she'd have become Lark Wright and she and Tim could have raised their kid together (whose name is Birdie in the 'canon' of Sorry, It's Locked because Tim named her by himself after Jay died) but it's such a cute name I kept it even for an au where Lark survived.
I had to kinda guess at how old Jay would have been in around 2013, so yeah if 26 is wrong, whoops. I feel like the outfit i gave Lark is pretty 'right' for someone in their mid thirties in 2024 though so 🤷🏻♂️
I adore the idea that Lark goes grey early, and that she has a few wrinkles she otherwise might not at her age because of all the stress she's been through. She's so goddamn pretty because of it though, I'm so not surprised that Tim married her. She's literally a milf.
Also, her wearing Tim's shirt :] just. So cute. She's just trying to figure out her style and ends up in unintentionally the cutest outfits Tim's ever seen. Poor guy walks into the kitchen and is immediately struck by the debilitating urge to kiss the heck out of her.
Anyway.
You'll probably see me switching between using Lark and she/her, and Jay and he/him when I talk about S,IL depending on what part of it I'm talking about. If I'm talking about Lark's gender exploration, I'll probably(?) call her Lark and she/her, whereas if I'm talking about anything before he figured out his gender I'll probably(?) use Jay and he/him. Just to help me better differentiate between 'canon' S,IL and 'no one dies au' S,IL. Because unfortunately in the S,IL I'm actually going to write, Jay never gets to the point where he's comfortable to change his name or pronouns.
Anyway, individual shots of Jay and Lark under the thingy Bob
Love the little trans flag feather and bracelet I gave her.
