Finding out Hans Zimmer is a transphobe genuinely had me falling to my knees
Thank you blastybaku for explaining this!/gen
If you've ever heard a movie score and thought "holy shit, this is incredible", there's like, a 50% chance it was Hans Zimmer who composed it.
This is a pretty major letdown, ngl.
Anyways, fuck transphobes, which includes Hans Zimmer, apparently.
Anyway shoutout to John Williams, amazing composer and probably the one who made the other 50% of "holy shit amazing" soundtracks (Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Superman, and incidentally the original Harry Potter theme and score) who famously worked closely with the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for an Academy Award, Angela Morley. He respected her, and so far as I can see, has never made transphobic remarks.
things Iâve noticed in the UK:
- when youâre jay walking, cars will actively accelerate bc the drivers want to kill you for breaking the rules
- servers in restaurants act very scared and apologetic, so maybe people arenât nice to them here??? or I could be terrifying
- itâs really cute when little kids have British accents, but Iâm unmoved by adults with accents
- extremely good gluten free options. this country is like 20 years ahead of Canada in that regard
- people will give random insignificant buildings names with little plaques. and then thatâs the name that shows up on the map. like even a smaller than average family home, you can name it like itâs a dog
- lots of brick and stone buildings. looks cute and charming until you enter one and thereâs no air conditioning
- people are still wearing jaguar print. I like this. donât let it die
ohhh okay! amendment: cars will actively try to kill you for being small and made of flesh, instead of cool and metal like them
they need to come up with more words like necrosis and miasma and mausoleum and cadaver and morose and decrepit and stuff like that just so metal bands can expand their vocabulary
every year I post this meme and every year people get more mad at me than they did the previous year
my dog don't bite she just smiles a lot
keep digging. maybe you'll find something of substance under it all. maybe it never meant anything to begin with.
or- the council prescribes self flagellation as a cure for doubt. and an angel can heal from anything.
Don't forget to take care of your sinful employees
You know when you finish a game that was really good, and itâs just over? When you try to push the falling action as long as you can even after the final cutscene plays and you have to say goodbye to that world you left a piece of yourself in?
You know that deep feeling that follows, as hollow and sinking as full and uplifting, thatâs so powerful all you can do is sit there and feel it?
Those games are rare, Lunacid is one of those games for me. I left more of myself than I think I ever should have in the Great Well, but I think thatâs okay. Even if the dream ends, it lives on in the dreamer and they carry that into tomorrow. Iâd like to think thereâs something beautiful in that.
A quiet trans man, Robert Allen (1914-1997) was never the type to make headlines. However, his 1957 marriage was front-page news. He transitioned in 1943 and was among the first in the UK allowed to legally change sex.
Allen published his autobiography in 1954, âBut for the Grace: The True Story of a Dual Existence.â There is contradictory reporting on Robert â if he was intersex or simply found a sympathetic doctor. Regardless, he lived a long, happy life and shouldnât be forgotten. I restored and colorized these photos to celebrate his life.
Do you guys fw scriddler too or am I insane
This would have had me crucified on tumblr 10 years ago but maybe we are ready for this conversation now:
If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.
This is a PSA to about 3/4s of the Portland Youth populace
everyone who reblogs this and is like "I ordered my own tea this week" or "I only barfed once when I had to give a presentation'- you are doing amazing sweetie. Have patience with yourself, you are relearning a skill so difficult that people get 4 year degrees to do it professionally.
Thought that post was cute so i drew it
