The horribly familiar sound of your alarm pulled you out of your peaceful sleep, the noise scaring you awake and causing you to suck in a short breath as you opened your eyes. Immediately the weight around your waist tightened and the body behind you shifted, Simon had likely also been woken by the alarm.
You moved to roll over onto your back, carefully scooting away from the man beside you only for his grip on you to tighten and pull you back into him.
“Simon...” You whispered while tilting your head down to his, “I have to get ready for work.” You gently ran your fingers through his messy hair while rubbing your eyes with the other hand.
Simon was a large man, this was not an unknown fact but it became increasingly obvious when he was curled up beside you in bed, his large frame clinging to your side and his head nuzzled in your neck. He also ran extremely hot so most nights when he was home the two of you slept under just a thin sheet.
You knew he was awake, he had always been a light sleeper, “Simon love,” You whispered again, “I have to get up.”
He squeezed your hip and shook his head, nuzzling it further into your neck, “Call in sick.” His voice had more of a rumble to it in the morning, his hot breath hitting your skin and sending chills down your spine.
“I can't do that.” You tried to pry yourself from his hold but it was useless, “Simon.” You drug out the last syllable as you huffed in frustration.
He let go of you and for a moment you thought he was going to let you out of the bed, you were proved wrong when he grabbed onto your hip again and pulled you to the center of the bed. He flipped you on top of him and wrapped his arms around you, holding you tight to his body and preventing you from leaving once again.
“Tell them you have food poisoning.” He mumbled as he stared up at you with his tired eyes, “We can stay in bed all day.”
“I'll squish you if I stay like this all day Simon.”
He dropped his head back onto the pillows and blinked, “I'm okay with that.” He grumbled.
You sighed and glanced over at the clock on your nightstand, “I will call and tell my boss I'm sick,” You dropped your forehead onto his chest, “But, I have to get up and pee before we stay here all day.”
“I’ll make us some tea while you do that.” Simon slid you off of him and sat up, his arms stretching above his head causing his shirt to lift slightly at the bottom. A smirk appeared on his face when he caught you staring at his midriff, “See something you like?”
Your face turned hot and you turned to climb off the bed, “Nope! Not a thing!” You snatched your phone from your nightstand and strolled off to the bathroom connected to your room.
You could hear the quiet chuckle as he left the bedroom to make your tea, your face still burning as you closed the bathroom door behind you.
When you finished in the bathroom and called your boss to inform them that you were too sick to come to work, you walked back into your room and over to the bed. The tangled sheet was bundled at the bottom of the mattress from you both kicking it off while you slept. The mattress squeaked quietly as you crawled onto it and flopped down on your pillows, the dim light coming from the hallway flowing into your room causing you to squint.
“One cuppa earl grey for the pretty lady.” Simon walked back into the room with two steaming mugs in his hands, the smell of tea filling the room. He walked over to your side of the bed and set your mug down on the green coaster sitting on your nightstand, “Might wanna wait a bit to drink it, it's pretty hot.” He knew of your tendency to always burn your mouth on hot food and drinks.
“Thank you, love.” You smiled up at him.
Simon walked around to his side of the bed and place his mug on his nightstand before climbing back onto the bed. He moved over to your side and wrapped his arms around your stomach so he could lay between your legs with his head resting on your stomach, a content sigh leaving his mouth.
Your hands moved back to the back of his head and began running through his hair, “You owe me for this you know.”
He hummed against your stomach.
“I'm skipping work just so we can cuddle.”
“And?”
“And, you're lucky I love you.” You leaned forward and kissed his head before leaning back and closing your eyes.

The car beeped behind you as you clicked the button on the key to lock it before fiddling with your keyring to find the one for your front door. Your fingers settled on the small silver key with a flower painted on the base of it as you stopped in front of the door to your house, the porch light shining faintly on you as you unlocked the door and stepped inside.
“Simon? I'm home!” You called out as you kicked the door shut with your foot, locking both of the locks before dropping your keys in the small ceramic bowl next to it.
When you didn't get a response from your boyfriend you immediately knew something was up. Simon had been sent home on medical leave after he was involved in a pretty nasty accident while on a mission that left him in pretty bad shape, with three broken ribs and a nasty wound on one of his legs. He had been home for a few days now and since he wasn't able to drive himself anywhere at the moment you knew he had to be somewhere in the house.
You assumed that he was asleep since it was rather late, you had been stuck working the late shift at work the entire week which meant you didn't get home until well after nine o'clock.
Walking into the kitchen to drop off your lunch bag you shrugged your coat off your shoulders as you walked, the soft fabric folding over your arm as you set your lunch bag on the table and turned to head upstairs to your bedroom.
The hallway was dark as you walked down it, the only light being what peeked through underneath your bedroom door. Simon couldn't sleep with lights on so you knew he was still awake.
“You in here love?” You called out again as you pushed the door open and walked into your shared bedroom only to find he was not in there either.
A faint grunt came from the bathroom followed by a string of loud curses, “In here.”
You tossed your coat and purse onto the bed and quickly walked over to the bathroom door before stopping to knock, “Si? Can I come in?”
“Mhm.”
You gently twisted the doorknob and pushed it open, the warm lighting of the bathroom flooding into the bedroom. The last thing you expected to see when you walked into the bathroom was your boyfriend sitting on the tiled floor looking absolutely defeated, his usual dark under-eye circles seemed to have darkened five shades since you last saw him. The site instantly worries you.
“Hey, what's wrong?” You dropped to the floor beside him and began looking him over, worried that he had hurt himself more.
He sighed and dropped his head back onto the wall behind him, “Was just tryin’ to take a shower.” He gestured his hand to the open shower curtain, “My bloody leg though.”
“Why didn't you wait for me? I could've helped you.” You moved your hand to the side of his face and turned it so he would look at you, “You could've pulled your stitches.”
Simon pulled his face from your hand and shoved you off of him, his hand moving to the side of the tub before he slowly hauled himself up, “I can take a bloody shower on my own, I'm not helpless!” He snapped.
You knew he didn't mean to raise his voice at you but it still hurt, “I know you're not helpless Simon, you're the farthest thing from it.” You carefully reached your arm out to his hand and grabbed onto his pinkie, “I just hate seeing you hurt yourself.”
Simon’s shoulders were slouched and he was staring down at the floor when he spoke, “I’m sorry for yelling, you didn't deserve that.” He glanced back at you and wrapped his pinkie around your own.
You leaned forward and rested your forehead against his bicep, “Just let me help you, Simon, please.”
He slowly nodded his head and squeezed your hand, a silent reassurance that he did appreciate everything you did for him even if he didn't say it.
“Thank you.” You kissed his arm before letting go of him and moving to the tub.
You leaned over the edge of the tub and plugged the drain before turning the water on to a nice warm temperature and letting it be to fill up.
“Just sit down and wait, I'm gonna go grab you some pajamas.” You pointed to the toilet before walking out of the bathroom.
Simon and you both had your own dressers where you kept your clothes, when he had first moved in with you he had just taken up a single drawer but it quickly became obvious that you would need more storage for the two of you.
You dug through his dresser and pulled out a pair of boxers, grey sweatpants, and one of his old rugby shirts before walking back to the bathroom.
When you returned Simon had one arm out of his shirt and his face was twisted into a pained expression, “I can't get this shirt off.” He tugged on the bottom of it with his free hand.
You stepped behind him and turned off the water before turning back to him, “Not a problem.” You reassured him as you slowly helped him pull the shirt off, his bruised side on full display for you in the dim lights. “How bad does it hurt?” You trailed your fingers along the blue marks leaving goosebumps in your wake.
“About as bad as it looks.” He shrugged.
You turned your attention back to the bath and reached below the sink to pull out some of your bath salts and bubble bath.
“What is that?” Simon questioned as you dumped a little bit of each product into the water.
“It'll make the bath smell good,” You reached your hand into the water and began shaking your hand around until bubbles began to fill the water, “And who doesn't love bubbles?” You smiled and turned to face the man behind you, “Do you need help with your pants?” You didn't want to jump in and take over if he could do it on his own.
Simon's hands went to the zipper of his pants and undid it. You chewed on the inside of your jaw while watching him, making sure he didn't fall or hurt himself while sliding his pants off.
Before he moved to take his boxers off he froze and looked up at you, “Can you help me?”
You gently nodded and moved in front of him, kicking his pants out of the way and holding onto his arm while he stood, his body tensing up as he moved and you could tell he was in pain. You had seen Simon naked on many different occasions, this time was different than most of them though, there was nothing sexual about it yet it somehow seemed much more intimate.
The stitched-up wound at the top of his thigh was surrounded by yellowing bruises, “This is healing nicely.” You glanced up at Simon as you guided him to the bubbly pink bathwater.
“Sure don't feel like it,” He hissed as he stepped up with his injured leg and into the tub.
“Just move slow,” You cautioned him and he slowly lowered himself into the water with your hand tightly clutching his arm.
“I've got it,” He winced again, “Thanks.”
You reached up and grabbed Simon’s loofa from where it hung on the shower wall, “Is it too hot?” You dipped the puff into the water and squeezed the excess out.
“No, it's good.” He ran his hand along his leg.
You squeezed a bit of Simon’s body wash onto the loofa before moving to wash his shoulders. You could visibly see his body begin to relax as you moved along his shoulders and back, your movements slow and gentle so you didn't hurt him any more than he was.
The bruises on Simon’s side wrapped clear around his back, the black and blue colors standing out harshly against his pale skin.
“It's gonna take time you know.” You spoke quietly as you finished washing his body.
Simon hummed in response, looking at you as you reached for the shampoo.
“For you to get back to normal, it'll take some time. You just need to be patient.” You squeezed a bit of his shampoo into your hands and began to lather it into his hair, “You’ll be back in the field before you know it Si.”
“At least I get to spend time with you while I'm off.” His eyes fell shut as you scrubbed his head.
“Exactly, what more could you want?” You smiled when his lips turned up slightly at the corners.
It didn't take you long to finish washing Simon’s hair and help him out of the tub where he worked on drying himself off. You dismissed yourself to go get changed out of your work clothes after he assured you he could handle dressing and then promised he would call you if he did.
After you had changed into one of your (Simon’s) large shirts and tossed your work clothes into the hamper you pulled down the covers on the bed.
“You alright?” You asked Simon as you clicked on the lamp on your side of the bed.
The bathroom light clicked off and the man in question walked into the bedroom, “I gave up okay the shirt, I doubt you'll mind that though.”
You turned back to look at him, your face instantly heating up at the sight of him shirtless and in nothing but his sweatpants, “No, that's fine.” You stuttered causing Simon to laugh.
He crossed the room and walked up to you, his arms moving to pull you into his chest, “Thank you,” he rested his chin on top of your head, “Thank you for helping me.”
You carefully wrapped your arms around him, “you don't have to thank me for helping you, it's kind of in the contract of a relationship you know.”
“Yeah but I'm a stubborn arse sometimes, and you have to put up with that.” He pulled back and looked down at you, “so thank you.”
“You're welcome.” You kissed his chest, “I love you.”
