Damn it I was wrong about the drakon but Hiss-Majesty youâre a truly mvp.
What the heck! People, forget about Nico and Will PERSEPHONE!!!!!!! I never felt so fucking related to someone I even didnât think it was possible to see my thoughts so well embodied.
Currently, I have been in a relationship for almost 10 years now, and every time family and friends ask me how did we manage to last so long together, I have just one answer by choosing
MAJOR SPOILER
Nico was the first half-blood to come out.
Nico was the one that made it possible for the others to come out, and yes, that includes PIPER AND WILL.
The true villain in tsats is a mortal whose name is Henry Whittaker.
Not a spoiler, but you can quickly see how inexperienced Nico and Will are about a quest. Will by overdoing and Nico by thinking anything itâs too much and makes sense. Will never went on a quest before, and even if Nico was an essential piece in almost every prophecy after Biancaâs death, he never had a proper quest.
Asdfghjk GOOD BYE MY FRIENDS NOW Iââ UNSTOPPABLE!!!
The Nico Mythinagic cards is from the beautiful Venxi
Holly shit itâs happening
People, weâre hours away from having TSATS in our hands. Did you already process that!? Cuz the heck, I donât.
PJO and Solangelo fandom. I thought Iâd be prepared when the day arrived, but not a day near to have it, and now I start panicking. I know there are people that already or are currently reading, but Iâm not prepared. Well, I told my piece fandom it was an honor. I'll see ya in two days (Iâm gonna avoid spoilers as best I can and tomorrow Iâll inhale that shit)
I am once again asking Rick to confirm in TSatS that the reason why Nico thought no one at Camp Half-Blood wanted him around was that he exclusively spent time with Percy's friend group while he was there.
Like... ToA confirms that Will's claim that people would be Nico's friends if he talked to them is accurate (I can't think of any non-villain character in ToA who responds to him with worse than neutrality, and he's clearly become very close with the whole Apollo cabin, not just Will). So does Will, Cecil and Lou Ellen's reaction to him running into them during their recon mission; all three of them are as friendly and pleased to see him and work with him as you could expect under the circumstances. But we also know that Nico is right about people not wanting him around, because the Seven (minus Hazel and later Jason) are about a step removed from openly hostile towards him in their POVs the whole way through HoH and only interact with him when they have to to the point where they barely seem to remember how he literally had to walk through Tartarus alone like a week before they rescued him from the jar where he had been locked up to slowly suffocate to death. And we can confirm that Percy was basically gossiping about Nico on the way to Rome (and we can assume that Annabeth, who would also have been one of the people Nico spent time with at camp, either didn't know or didn't try to do anything about it) and that that did play a part in the Seven's dislike of him based on Jason's POV in the Split section. And if Nico's only been spending time at camp with that group...
Basically Percy's friend group are fine on their own, but they do seem to be pretty insular (Percy says he has other friends at camp, but aside from Annabeth, Grover and Tyson they seem to be more like school/work friends than close friends; he gets on with them okay, but he doesn't seem to really interact with them except when they're put in proximity to each other by the structure they're part of) and they clearly don't particularly like Nico specifically. Both Percy and Annabeth are pretty open about being uncomfortable around him in their POV, and while Tyson's his usual friendly self when he runs into Nico in BoO he and Grover tend to take their cue from Percy and Annabeth in a lot of things. Nico clearly picks up on that (his bitterness when he tells Jason that he's sure Percy told the Seven all about him really does speak volumes), and he never really sticks around at camp long enough to interact with other people (and even when he is around he's definitely not the most sociable of people, and while people are clearly perfectly happy to be his friend there probably is a sense of intimidation from his death powers and general Big Three energy that means people are a little nervous about approaching him first; I suspect part of the flashbacks in TSatS will feature Hazel, Jason, Reyna and Will dragging him into socialization). It would make sense for him to conclude that no one at camp wants him around when all the people he actively talks to don't really want him around!
And also like... just in general it's the only way I can really think of to reconcile Will's claim that Nico could very easily have friends at camp if he talked to people (and how that's backed up by ToA) with how Nico has never felt welcome at camp and how the Seven's POVs (minus Hazel's and later Jason's) show that he's right to feel that way based on how they think of him. At least the only way that wouldn't feel like a copout. And that's one of the things that really bothers me about Nico's situation, because almost all the POVs in HoO prove his view of the situation right... but then he does seem to have made friends pretty easily between HoO and ToA, and it just doesn't line up.
Nico having friends and being welcome to camp isnât true, or at least it isnât entirely true. You said yourself that people didnât trust Nico, not even one. All we saw about Nico on PJO was the guilt Percy had for him, but at the same, he couldnât allow himself to trust in Nico's real intentions.
And donât let me start with how any of the 7 saw him. Even Hazel, at first, doesnât trust Nico's intentions to take her out. Hazel thinks she was just a consolation prize for Nico at the begging, a replacement for Bianca (and Nico did a poor job at first to show her that he saw her as his own person, his lil sis, and not a replacement). All of the 7 fear Nico and assume way too many things about him.
And Iâm sorry I brought this up a few days before tsats release, but, yeah, also, Will didnât help Nico being self-conscious.
"Nico." Will patted his boyfriend's arm. "You're scaring the other campers."
"More than usual," Julia Feingold muttered under her breath.
"Oh, come on," Nico protested. "You've all heard that annoying song, right? It's from Welcome to Camp Half-Blood."
Nobody responded.
People felt uncomfortable being near Nico. Actually, we can argue that Will, Lou, and Cecil felt relieved when they saw Nico on BOO cuz Nico was an essential force in the battle of Manhattan, not cuz they liked him. Nico said the only demigod that was okay being around Nico was Clovis, son of Hypnos, and thatâs cuz they meet a lot when dream traveling (cuz Clovis is stronger than Nico).
So Nico never made up for being an outcast in both camps. People made him feel that way, and Iâm not saying that Will didnât want to know him before HOO, but we all know (at the time) he never tried to be Nico friend before Nico yelled to Octavian that he would quit both camps.
A wild thought...
Weâre waiting on tsats release, so did you want to know something wild?
Uncle Rick never planned or intended for Nico being gay⌠itâs sounds so ridiculous now when we all think about Nico as one of the first queer characters in kids and YA books sagas but by the end of the PJO saga (the first five books), Uncle Rick never planned to Nico being gay even if now people can point at him as queer coding on those books. In reality, he was just an angry kid with solid morals; as we saw, he didnât allow skeletons to harm Percy.
It is just when Uncle Rick starts to write more about him that he, as he described, realizes this is an essential part of him. When HOH first came out, he had an interview in which he said he didnât intend to happen, but while writing, it makes too much sense to him that Nico is, in fact, gay.
THE SUN AND THE STAR OUT OF CONTEXT (PART 2)
Holy crap, putting Nico aside, we all love our shadow boy the impact to PERCY when, because Nico MUST NOW tell that probably they share a sister now.
Still donât know how I felt about Estelle and Bianca being one soul.
7 days awayâŚ
So weâre just a week away from tsats release, and even if Iâll go all the way to my nearest Barnes & Noble to pick my book, I bought it as an ebook as well (actually, I preorder both English and Spanish ebooks).
Are you ready? Iâm not emotionally prepared, but I donât care. I look over a year, to this book destroyed me completely.
This is the fastest book being translated ever istg it took at least five complete months for any TOP book to be translated (HOO books took one year at least between the original and the translation to be released) by the same publisher. Still, they would release tsats in Spanish a month away from the official release.
Nico; a brief study on grief and abandonment.
â ď¸If youâre so biased toward Bianca, donât readâ ď¸
Weâre a week away from tsats release, so I wanted to do a brief character study about Nico and his worst battles (occasionally worsted than battle gods, titans, and primordial deities). Be aware that Iâll donât sugarcoat anything, and yes, Iâm talking about Bianca, Jason, and Reyna (briefly Percy). I love them all, but that doesnât mean they didnât have some harmful impact on Nicoâs life by THEIR CHOICES. Be aware of this before reading.
Nico is maybe the demigod with the worst case of abandonment issues out there (and thereâs Annabeth). Our first encounter with Nico was this sunny, cute dork just to Uncle Rick, turning him into the little murder shadowy boy heâs now, but you take a moment to think about how the fuck it happened.
A few days ago, I saw this post that jokes about Bianca abandoning Nico. A few people lash at the one who posts, yelling at them just for literally taking quotes from Titanâs curse and using the meme template of a boy making a peace sign and banishing. People comment that Bianca doesnât abandon Nico, how she wants to have a life out of her and Nico, and how valid she is for it. Someone goes as far as bring up their experience being the parent sibling and how exhausting it was to be so. Okay, valid points for yâall, but this affects Nico and his future relationships.
When all Artemis's shit happened, Artemis allowed Percy to come with her while [Artemis] was planning to ask Bianca to join the hunt. Grover and Nico werenât allowed to follow them (using the lack of Nicoâs knowledge about Greek mythology so Grover could tell some things). Bianca, without talking to Nico, takes the oath to Artemis while a chapter before just 13 pages before; Bianca tells Percy, Nico, and Dr. Thorn that they only have each other and no one else. Besides the fact Artemis and Zoe brainwashed their hunters to join them, Percy tries to tell Bianca to think it through before choosing. Percy could be seen as an early big brother (since Tyson), and yeah, Percy could be a little older than Bianca (just for one year). Still, he knows how this will be affected Nico (bless Sally for Percy being one of the few demigods with emotional intelligence, sorry but NO, Annabeth could be a genius, but her emotional intelligence is lower than Percyâs) in a wrong way.
It took Bianca 10 chapters to understand how her choice could affect Nico and decide to grab/steal a figurine to make amends with Nico (we all know how well that worked). Then BIANCA CHOOSE gave up her life to save everyone else. She was a hero, the biggest kind of a hero; she gave up her life to save her friends (even if she was the one that put them in danger). After Biancaâs death, Nico changes; not only did he lose forever (or at least at that time he thought this) the only person he loves the most in the world, but Nico realized he fell in love with Percy, that Nico noticed when even if he yells he hates Percy and wish Percy were the one who dies instead of Bianca he didnât let any harm to come near Percy.
Then Nico learns his parentage and thinks maybe he could see Bianca one more time, but even if Nico calls and pleas she never shows up for Nico, an 11 yo boy this was his sister abandoned him again (for Nico, it doesnât matter the reasons good or bad this was Bianca avoiding him). I mentioned before Bianca ended up knowing SHE WAS THE ONE WHO HURTS NICO, but as before, she couldnât confront Nico, so she doesnât answer the call, at least until Percy call.
At this point, Nico only knows his sister abandoned him two times before by choosing the hunt and now choosing not to answer him (even at first she didn't acknowledge Nico). In this dialogue, Bianca is rude to him; she forces Nico to face his feelings, and no, Iâm not talking about his crush on Percy but his anger towards his sister. Nico was a boy from Italy in the â40s. If you donât know a thing about Italy over those years, this is something I could tell you family was important, the most essential and integral part of the being, and Bianca is forcing Nico to hate her to be mad at her BECAUSE IT WAS BIANCA CHOICE TO HURT HIM and this shit hurt Nico. We all mention Cupid being a piece of shit for forcing Nico to come out. Still, here Bianca do the same, forcing Nico to accept those feelings (that Nico absolutely is feeling but canât accept by his beliefs and his love for Bianca). At this point, Nico forgave every abandonment (the three times Bianca left him behind and when Percy chose not to look at him at the end of Titanâs curse), and it wonât be the last time for him to accept people to leave him behind.
While Nico is looking for a way to help Percy, he also looks for his mom because nobody tells anything about his mother to him, even though it was until he tries to summon Maria gosht that Bianca allows herself to show in front of Nico to tell him to stop searching for his mother. Now this is another time we know Nico saw his sister; even if Nico spent a while in Hades kingdom, he just saw his sister until he tried to summon Maria. Actually, this is the only time he yells at Bianca.
Nico's grief and abandonment are so intertwined as one that he is grieving Bianca at the same time to understand why she could leave him behind quickly but trying never to blame her. Then the doors open, and he tries to seek Bianca and bring her to life to learn she decided to be reborn and finally left him behind alone. By choosing reborn, Bianca decides to lose her memories of everything, including Nico. Even if somehow Nico founds Biancaâs soul, she would never recognize him.
HOO brings Nico more relationships, not just he finally talks with Percy about his feelings and behaviors (that I want to read more about besides that little talk they had). He gained two sisters, a boyfriend, and a best friend, just to lose almost everything. Jason was the first one to tell Nico to risk and trust someone while he also made Nico stay in Camp half-blood (a place where Nico never felt safe or at home), partially telling him he wanted Nico to stay with him there only to choose left and go to school at the end of summer. Reyna, who acknowledged/addressed him as family, someone Nico trusts at the point of sharing intimate memories with and starts to see as a big sister, chooses to join the hunter (the ones who were practically part to blame in Biancaâs death). People who told him to trust left him behind the same way his sitter, whoâs supposed to love him unconditionally, and yet chose other people rather than him. Whatâs so wrong inside Nico that the ones he loved the most decide he isnât worthy enough? Now I donât know if Uncle Rick or Mark will address all of this, but when (because we know for sure they will) Will and Nico get separate, I hope they didnât let Nico go through these thoughts as I implied Nico didnât handle grief to well, on the other hand, he always forgave people for left him behind I hope they donât make Will be another love one that does the same to Nico.
Iâll post the last reference as a response to this text.
Also, Reyna chose Artemis and Jason to die both ended up being Bianca all over again.

In addition to my last post all Nico stands want to the boy to had a break and be the kid/teenager he deserve to be are the same people that already had his money ready for summer 2023 to read how Nico go to Tartarus for second time but now with his bf.
Also I want to see Nicoâs flashbacks about his first time in the Tartarus alone just to break my heart even deeper.
Two weeks away from seeing my baby boy go on a honeymoon with his boyfriend; it was a long wait, but it was totally worth it.
Okay but how about solangeloâs Tartarusbook with changeable pov. We knew uncle Rick usually write in just one pov with the brief exceptions we had so far, but imagine the potential of see Will pov facing Tartarus for first time while Nico pov is full flashbacks and noticing how different is to go solo and now that heâs with Will at his side. The potential also the heartbreaking. Also not to force others characters into the picture but I donât think at least Hazel could be cross arms if she figured that his brother go to Tartarus a second time not to mention that Percy would be so broken if he learns that Nico hear a voice (probably Bob) calling him from the Tartarus. Percy would blame himself (even is heâs sick to death of the gods and his quest).
Fuck I forgot about this. Now the only thing in my mind is that the map on tsats book show clearly Sallyâs apartment in the early route on the boys journey⌠so did Percy would mention this on The Chalice of the Gods or that meant to happen before? âcuz I remember uncle Rick said COG would be happening the summer before Percabeth enter college and the preview said Nico and Will were the only campers that sign to be full year campers that year. Side note I really hope we saw at least Hazel, Austin, and Kayla reaction when they learnt his brother go for a brief honeymoon vacation to Tartarus. Also hey I was right we will have different pov but I donât ask for Will and Nico to split in the Tartarus.
Not related but serious question is in Tartarus or on Tartarus âcuz itâs a place but at same is the body of a primordial, even if only Nico saw him as a primordial rather than a place (donât look at me I donât made the rules it was uncle Rick).
