Faith walks.
The Lord is always good.
Awesome drawing Jonathan Edwards by @dariogtrz1. Just had to share it!
It's so easy to forget the most blessed & basic truth in our lives as Christians. We are counted righteous by the blood of Christ. This is the most precious truth in all the universe. And we must never forget!
The new birth is most fundamentally a change in the desires of the heart. When we are dead in sin, we cannot desire God - it's impossible for us, because we are his enemies, & we love other things more than his glory. But when God, through his word & by his Spirit, brings us forth from death to life by revealing the glory of Jesus Christ to our hearts, our desires change at their very root. The most revealing sign that God has done a work in us is that we now desire to know him, where before we had no heartfelt response to his glory. Before we knew his grace (by an inward work of the Spirit), other things were more compelling to us than the God we were created to know. We found happiness in other places besides his glory. But when he transformed us, we now desire him above all things. Because, by the Spirit, we have been reconciled to the God we were created to know. Our hearts intrinsically know this, & so, when God changes us, we know we have found the truth we were created for! Jesus died to purchase this transformation of reconciliation with God for us. And when our hearts are made alive to see God's glory in Christ (2 Cor. 4:4-6), we believe, because we cannot do otherwise. And God's glory becomes the singularly most compelling thing to the desires of our heart.
As you cultivate your relationship with God through spiritual discipline, allow the precious truths of his word to change & transform your heart.
Life is about the glory of God.
