3D printed FISH!!!!!!!!!!! We have a 3D printer in the department! And I used it! To print a fish!!!! (Obviously). It's just amazing!!!!! This is about 7cm long. And cost me 20p!!!! How amazing is that! The design for the fish came from Thingyverse.com, but hopefully I'll learn to make my own designs! Dead exciting!
So I popped to Sunderland Glass Centre one day because I saw in a magazine that they had a glass fish workshop. Which I thought would be absolutely perfect for my work!!!!! When I got there, it turned out the workshop was for children. So I did make a glass fish. With a bunch of kids. And this is what it looks like ... I am so cool.
Making half-planets/bowls out of terracotta clay. And made a clay goldfish from a silicone mould I had bought ages ago. Can't wait to fire stuff like this and see if I can glaze it!!
Lentil planet ball/bowl things are finished! Coated in gold paint and PVA glue to help hold the lentils in place. Weird goldfish bowl/planets things.
Tried to use spray paint to make a mini space scene. Doesn't look that great because I was working on such a small scale (A6) it was hard to aim it perfectly. But it's a good start to making bigger spray paint pieces.
Making some advancements on my weird lentil planet goldfish ball things. Oh yes.
A small drawing inspired by Klimt! Dreamy floaty underwater fish for hair lady.
Moon Experiment I Tried making a little moon out of terracotta clay. But I made it over a bauble. So as the clay dried, and shrank - the bauble did not, so the clay cracked off the bauble. So I was just left with moon fragments. But they look interesting! Might do something with them.
Some failed experiments with lentils and clay! Wanted to create like a weird goldfish scale planet thing. But the clay started drying faster than I could shove in all those lentils. Really stupidly fiddly and time consuming.
Walking down the corridor in uni, I came across this! I think it's a really simple idea but it just works so well! Not sure who actually did this! I didn't have a lie down, but I had a good listen to the head phones and the sounds were just like rainforest noises, really relaxing! Love it!
This is an online version of my Goldfish in Space collage book!!! Take a look! It's ordered and on its way to me in the post. I am awfully excited!!
Here are possible front covers to the book I have been making. Yes. This book is of all the ‘goldfish in space’ collages I have done.Â
I have collected all 40 collages that I made from one book called ‘Astronomy Photographer of the Year’, scanned them into my computer, edited each image, written a fake description for each image, arranged the image and text in a page format, written a fake foreword, and finally made front cover images for the book.Â
But god help me, I don’t know which one to choose!! If anyone would care to tell me which one they like the most, that would be most appreciated!
So I hung the 60 sided paper Jupiter and moon with a wee plastic fish and took my own astrofish-photographs. They've worked quite well I think!
I mounted one of my copper bowls on some black board and displayed it with an image of mercury. Bam. Not bad
Photos from my strand exhibition. A kind of installation type of work that was really hard to photograph. My idea of hanging planets, merged with a little plastic goldfish, underneath a starry galaxy constellation light type arrangement.Â
It’s surprising the difference it makes to the work to have it hung and presented like this. Before, the paper planet globe things were just stacked on my desk, but it changes them completely to see them like this.Â
Made a moon and a Jupiter out of paper! Can't wait to hang these up with a fish. Starting to use these more to think about '3D collages'.
